You’re Invited – Get Sketched at W Union Square!

Walking down any street corner in New York City (especially Times Square), you can’t help but notice the street artists sketching drawings of tourists (and sometimes a few locals). This of course mostly happens during the summer time because who wants to sit outside freezing their cheeks off posing for a sketch. Well thanks to the W Union Square hotel, you have the luxury of getting an amazing illustration of yourself by the very talented Parson The New School artists without worrying about catching pneumonia. See details below.

Those who have been sketched in this way and who found the experience inspiring may want to try giving sketching and drawing a go for themselves. This would include buying the requisite materials: pens, pencils, paper, etc. You also have to think about the environment you’re going to be sketching in as you want it to be well-lit so that you can see exactly what you’re putting on the paper. Maybe a light box (like this – https://drawinglightbox.com) could help to illuminate your sketches while they’re in progress so you can see all the details and recognize which areas need more attention. It’s an artist’s best friend!

The W Hotels are kicking off the season in style with in-residence fashion illustrators from Parsons The New School For Design in the Living Room of W Union Square from February 9 – February 17, capturing the inner fashionista of the hotel’s guests and stylish locals. Those who are sketched get to keep their work of art.
