Brother Jimmy’s Union Square Opening

If you love great Southern Food and live in New York, then you know the place to be is Brother Jimmy’s BBQ who encourages you to “put some South in yo’ mouth”.

Whether you’d been to the original location on Second Ave, btwn. 77th & 78th St or any of the other five locations (a bonus location is Jimmy’s Burger Shack on 31st btwn. 7th & 8th), Brother Jimmy’s is the place to enjoy some good old-fashioned Southern Hospitality…..and some damn good food (I love their sauces, I put it on just about everything but it doesn’t last long in my house). Now the people who work and live in the Union Square location can now enjoy some southern food or maybe a game or two between Duke and UNC as Brother Jimmy’s opened it’s sixth location. The celebration was hosted by Nick Lachey and sponsored by good ole Jack Daniels

A very large crowd came to celebrate the grand opening of Brother Jimmy’s Union Square on a cool clear night and a few celebrities arrived to celebrate with Brother Jimmy’s owner, Jeff Lebowitz pictured below with Nick Lachey). Also walking the red carpet was Joey Fatone (Katrina Bowden from 30 Rock was in attendance as well but didn’t walk the red carpet). I love the fact that Joey Fatone let a litle loose on the carpet – he seems like a fun guy

I was lucky enough to piggy back on an impromptu interview Nick Lachey did after doing the carpet. At first his handler said no interviews but someone said it’s food questions and I got lucky. Here it is below:

While enjoying some continuous finger licking good food such as Sliced Brisket Sandwiches, Fried Oysters, Peel and Eat Shrimp, etc. (yes, my mouth is currently watering at this very moment), the very HOT and super yummy DJ Ruckus was setting the pace by playing his usual hot mix of music

He stopped briefly to allow for a rocking performance by unsigned artist, Sarah Mather, you may remember her as a finalist on American Idol 4 in 2005. As I said (and as you can see above) the place was packed (and space got tighter as the night wore on) and it certainly well deserved because the food was incredibly delicious. The only way to stop eating was to leave which I did after two fun and belly filled hours. So ladies and gentlemen, hop, skip, jump, run to Brother Jimmy’s BBQ in Union Square and order several items from the menu nd bask in the glorious fulfillment of some damn good Southern cooking. I can’t wait to go back
