Sunglasses Inspired by the Little Black Dress – Ilori & Badgley Mischka

Again all, I’m a little behind in posting the events I’ve attended because it’s getting to the point where it’s two or three and on some days, four events in one night. So, with that said, please note that the following event was not tonight but it was started on the night in question and just finished now.

Dave and I, displeased with our singledom (as we are every day) made a conscious decision that every event is a chance to possibly meet our perfect mate (or at least perfect for right now). So off we go to the one and only event we have tonight (thank goodness because we are exhausted). Tonight it is to the grand opening of Ilori (the name Ilori orginated as an African name. It is most often used for a girl and means special treasure) and to view the Sunglasses Collection by Badgley Mischka inspired by the Little Black dress.

Ilori, under the embrella of Luxottica, “a global leader in eyewear, with nearly 6,200 optical and sun retail stores in North America, Asia-Pacific, UK, China and South Africa and a strong brand portfolio that includes Oakley, Ray-Ban, license brands Bvlgari, Burberry, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Prada, Versace and Polo Ralph Lauren, and key house brands: Vogue, Persol, Arnette and REVO.”

Dave and I walk in, check our coats, grab a glass of champagne and proceed to try on a few pairs of these beautiful eye wear collections. Dave and I got there pretty early, so we got to play dress up with the sunglasses. Dave fell in love with multiple brands whereas I fell for a pair of purple aviators from Blinde.

Between the two of us, Dave and I totally

The atmosphere was very relaxed, even the servers made me smile and laugh a little and not just because they were cute. The crowd was very receptive to each other which is always a good thing

We talked to one of the sales managers who walked Dave and I through the various lines. I must note that this Badgley Mischka line of eye wear are named after some very famous women. Although for trademark purposes, the sunglasses cannot be called “The Marilyn Monroe” for example, they are however inspired by these women who were THE women at that time. I saw the Josephine, Marilyn, Dorothy, Elizabeth, Greta, etc. You get the idea.

Here’s a closeup of the information of the Marilyn

and a photo of the Josephine

I also got a chance to get acquainted with a very exciting line called Sama, a very exotic line of eyewear by designer, Sheila Vance. Mark Badgley and James Mischka and Sama came together in 2006 to create this line of eyewear that we’re celebrating at this event

Here are some of the gorgeous sunglasses from Sama

I was also introduced to the line by Loree Rodkin, a jewelry designer who does a lot of medieval inpired jewelry

and has continued the inspiration into her eyewear.

All in all, we had a good time, on the way out I noticed this in the window

On to the next thousand events.
