Although you’ll have to wait until February 20th to personally view/touch the collection, I can give you a first look at some of the pieces of French designer, Sonia Rykiel’s newest collection for H & M – Knitwear (you can see the full knitwear collection on H&M.com starting February 9th). You may have remembered that she did a Lingerie Collection for H & M in early December with a huge launch party in Paris (link courtesy of the UK’s Daily Mail)
Held at the chic restaurant ( and damn delicious), Bobo (a renovated three story apartment building that totally reminded me of a Parisian inside),the collection was a vibrant contrast to Bobo’s lighting. What best describes this knitwear collection to me is color, color and color. Whether it reminds you of the 80’s, club kids or favorite childhood cartoon, Rainbow Brite, this collection certainly catches your eye. Chock full of bright colors – Fuchsia (great contrast with black), yellow, orange, etc. and bold wide stripes, it made the collection feel playful and fun
One key piece that stood out to me was the Sailor shorts. I love that they’re wide(r) leg, because you know….THIGHS HAPPEN. I also do love the fact that she has done this whole nautical look in Fuchsia and black (it also comes in yellow and black) as opposed to the usual Navy and white
I also had to get a closer look at this short Pea-coat, I mean who doesn’t love a double-breasted jacket
I must say this event was ridiculously crowded, so crowded that I missed photo opps with Chanel Iman (who was the DJ for the night), Leighton Meester, Kelly Rutherford, and (former?)Destiny’s Child member – Michelle Williams (who I heard was looking very She by Sheree-ish – wrong haircut love) but I at least got the guest of honor, Sonia Rykiel, looking very chic in her power red lips and animal print coat, her daughter, Nathalie Rykiel (who looks like a cross between Portia de Rossi and Renee Zellweger) and celeb super stylist, Phillip Bloch – looking dapper and relaxed as always
