The Makeup Show NYC

It’s time again for every beauty lover’s fantasy – no, it’s not being locked inside Sephora for 24 hours but it’s just as good – welcome to The Makeup Show.

Brought to us by The Powder Group (publisher of On Makeup magazine) and the Metropolitan Pavilion Events, The Makeup Show is New York’s trade show for the makeup industry which bring together industry educators, retailers, product companies and manufacturers. Celebrating it’s 5th Year Anniversary, the show featured more than 60 pro-makeup companies including: “MAKE UP FOR EVER, Luminess Air, Inglot, Temptu Pro, Crown Brush, Alcone, Smashbox, Becca Cosmetics, Dermalogica, Embryolisse, Eve Pearl Cosmetics, Face Atelier, Graftobian, Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, Korres Natural Products, L’Oreal, M.A.C Cosmetics, Mai Couture, Mario Badescu Skin Care, Naked Cosmetics, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Senna Cosmetics, Shu Uemura, Three Custom Color, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, and more.”

“In celebration of our 5-Year Anniversary, The Makeup Show Director of Artistry, James Vincent has created a special tribute “5 Years. 5 Icons. 5 Boroughs” representing women born and raised in each corner of New York City who have each, in their own way, brought a unique vision of beauty to the world: Bronx: Jennifer Lopez. Brooklyn: Barbra Streisand. Manhattan: Brooke Shields. Staten Island: Joan Baez. Queens: Cyndi Lauper.”
I came across some very cool products and made some cool contacts. One of my first stops was to Luminess Air Airbrush Makeup System, if you’ve ever been up at about 2am (perhaps after watching Medium on Lifetime) then you may have come across Marc and the Luminess Air System. I’ve actually written about them before while they were featured at the Haute Look Lounge’s return to New York

Then I came across something new in the eyelash game from Paperself Eyelashes – these will definitely get your eyes some attention. “Inspired by the art of Chinese paper-cutting, Eyelashes blend an element of traditional culture with contemporary design. Intricately cut and delicately pretty, Eyelashes are available in three styles, each infused with symbolic meaning rooted in Chinese culture:

Horses: symbolic of success
Peony: for happiness and good fortune
Peach blossom: a symbol of love and romance”

I also came across some very awesome body painting, first from MAC

and the magic of Makeup Forever

But back to airbrush makeup for a minute, Luminess Air was  not the only airbrush makeup company there, Temptu was there showcasing their silicon airbrush makeup and to introduce their new blush line

and Dinair Airbrush Makeup who created some very wild looks on not just the face but hair as well

It was fun learning about new products, new beauty tools and of course trying samples and purchasing a few treats for yourself. I highly recommend attending the next Makeup Show. Meanwhile, enjoy a few more event photos
