The collection boasts razor sharp lines and edgy tailoring which left me thinking about the movie, Blade Runner… both for its retro and futuristic aspects. The Replicant, Rachel, would be perfectly at home wearing looks from this collection. I love the idea of the black leather body-con dress worn with ankle strap spectator pumps and a rolled, “Andrews Sisters-esque” hairstyle. Tres chaud!
The corresponding menswear designs were ruggedly individualistic, a slickly rock and roll slouch. As with other designers (the Prada Birkenstock anyone?), Skingraft used the humble shower sandal as inspiration for their footwear – think Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network. The fabrications say your clothes cost tons, but your attitude is totally, “Bro, I’m chill”.
Hot trends from this collection included the combination of black and yellow, blue/black/white tribal print for men and women. Check out the link to show’s finale video here – http://fashionzombie1.tumblr.com/post/60927491800/skingraft-at-pier-59-studios-guestblogging-for
