New York Fashion Week Roundup: Nolcha Fashion Week & Diesel/Tumblr in Union Square

Nolcha Fashion Week

Nolcha Fashion Week had tables of brands looking to hook up with social media savvy bloggers. Homanz had cute clear plastic purses stuffed with their ss2014 catalog, Grand had tiny tubes of lash growing mascara, and Biovea had…vitamins. Haircare giant Rusk had full sized samples of products like W8less, a 12-in-1 miracle treatment. Magnifico Giornato flavored champagne and Ron Rico rum were on hand to sate the unholy thirst brought on by fashion shows and the long days running to and fro trying to cover them all.

As show attendees tottered out, loaded with free stuff and cocktails? Subway, the sandwich franchise, handed out laptop bags with insulated sandwich pockets.

Diesel/Tumblr in Union Square

One lounge was completely open to the public. Actually, there was no way to keep them out! Not much of a surprise since NYC is known for its life-sized, oversized and interactive, curated art installations. Diesel (helmed by creative director Nicola Formichetti) teamed up with social media giant tumblr to create an open air space that was like a Chuck E. Cheese ball pit gone high-concept.

You were invited to lay around on strategically placed throw pillows in Union Square Park surrounded by these giant balls. Organizers handed out printed programs, with photos of all the “art” displayed on the spheres.
