Custo Dalmau and his brother, David have always created vibrantly colored, heavy textured garments for their line, Custo Barcelona and this season’s collection was no exception. Appropriately titled Hairy Metal, the fall collection was filled with knts over knits mixed with fur and wool that was heavily peppered with metallic pieces and sparkling stones. To say you need confidence to wear these pieces is an understatement, with layers and layers of colors and fabrics, this collection is not for the tame of heart, only for the bold (you don’t want your garment to wear you afterall).
As expected the women’s side was much bolder than the men, don’t get me wrong, there were some extreme graphical designs for the men (which I’ll show below) but if graphics were power, Custo’s vision for women would be large and in charge. Vibrant in your face colors such as turquoise, fuschia, mauves and blues teamed up with and competed against greys, blacks and high voltage metallics (this statement really applies to the mens looks)
My favorite pieces are the mini dress in the second photo above and these two jackets below, especially the ombre jacket – the gradient blue (and the entire collection for that matter) screams “It’s all about me!”
