This fall, Ann Taylor takes you on an intellectually chic journey through Paris with modern luxury. Broken down into four different themes – Nouveau Chic, Femme Military, Parisian Salon and Parisian Chic, your wardrobe will surely be the envy of many – with classic American touches mixed with a heavy dose of European sophistication and a younger appeal. Though shown in four themes, each had staples all throughout, like pencil skirts, comfy sweaters and cardigans. Held at the lobby of boutique Ace Hotel, the collection had the perfect backdrop with the rich red velvet couches and old books with accessories artfully placed on mirrored trays and cake stands. I must say I am very excited for when these looks become available.
August brings Nouveau Chic – cool relaxed fits, lightweight fabrics, casual jackets, stripes, lightweight animal prints
September takes a masculine turn with Femme Military – masculine cut jackets and sweaters, dark moody colors, lots of blacks, dark animal prints
October takes you to a Parisian Salon – soft tans, browns, warm and cool tones of greys, slim oversize cardigans paired with sleek pencil skirts
and finally November was all Parisian Chic – the most sleek and epitome of cool elegance; blacks and dark colors set the background to highlight small touches like a leopard clutch, a light grey cardigan over a polka dot blouse or a metallic skirt.
The Accessories were especially eye catching, we all know by now (or should know) that leopard is the hot print for this fall and while I’ve seen it in clothing, Ann Taylor is one of the few I’ve seen to highlight it in accessories because sometimes a little black dress calls for only a touch of boldness like leopard print skinny belt, clutch or pump. I’m also in love with the aged high heel peep-toe Brown Oxfords, the chunky cuffs and the metal and ribbon necklaces.
Many people came out to celebrate the new collection from Ann Taylor and a performance by singer-songwriter V.V. Brown, including celebrities Rachel Bilson and the fabulous Christina Hendricks, who so reminds me of old world glamour.
