Mandee and Vanilla Star Celebrate Fashion’s Future

Hundreds of teens were in attendance for the unveiling of the Vanilla Star Back-to-School capsule collection created by students of The High School of Fashion Industries with a Back to School Block Party at the Mandee located on 14th street. The top three winning student-designs, which captured Vanilla Star’s “Smart Girls Rock!” image, were displayed in the Mandee store window

Students and guests enjoyed music spun by DJ Lexey, manicures, food from El Carrito Rojo and dessert from The Treats Truck and participated in several contests for a chance to win Katy Perry concert tickets, an HP laptop, and Mandee gift cards. Guests also enjoyed a percentage off shopping and free gifts with purchases that night – $40 gave guests free colored hair extensions and any purchase gave you a t-shirt with Mandee’s “Get Your Fashion On” slogan

As you can see in the photo below, these student designers are fashonistas, below are a few of the HSFI student designers

But the winners are these lovely ladies below who exude their own chic styles – Stephanie Pimentel and Keanna Wilkins

Also in attendance were Vanilla Star President Mark Levy and President of Mandee, Alan Mandelbaum

“We couldn’t be more excited!”, said Vanilla Star president Mark Levy. “Through this challenge, we hope to give the talented students of The High School of Fashion Industries the opportunity of a lifetime and an outlet to make their dreams come true”.

“We are very excited to have joined forces with Vanilla Star Jeans on this special partnership”, said Alan Mandelbaum, president of Mandee. “The designs created by the students are innovative and a perfect fit for our customer.”

As a student of fashion, I’m surprised no one has thought of doing this with teens before, they definitely have their own style and vision of fashion. I applaud Mandee and Vanilla Star for doing this and hope this becomes an annual opportunity for these very fashionable high school students. Enjoy more event photos below
