Food Fete Presents Chocolat | Indulging in Chocolates

Our Editor, Glasgow, gave you guys a glimpse inside one of the largest chocolate shows on the east coast, but I had the pleasure of attending Food Fete: Chocolat which takes an intimate approach to stimulating all your senses with Chocolat. I spoke with chocolatiers’ in depth about their brands. Here is a recap of what I discovered to be more about the people producing the chocolate than the chocolate itself. Take Divine Chocolates for instance, part of the company is owned by the farmers.

Choosing Divine as your chocolate treat is a delicious way of playing your part in a more equitable trading partnership. Divine is the only Fairtrade chocolate company which is 45% owned by the farmers. While Fairtrade ensures farmers receive a better deal for their cocoa and additional income to invest in their community, company ownership gives farmers a share of Divine’s profits and a stronger voice in the cocoa industry. Divine Chocolates are beautifully decorative with Adrinka symbols on the packaging. Vitality and Enlightenment, Family and Solidarity are just a few of the meanings of the Adrinka symbols on the package. B.T.McElrath Chocolatier

This chocolate is so satisfying; sometimes you desire chocolate with multi-flavors and B.T. McElrath satisfies your cravings for salty, sweet, and crunch all at once. Indulge with delight as you bite into this delight. B.T chocolate is for a sophisticated pallet and the best part is you only need a little to gain a lot of flavor. B.T. McElrath’s Salty Dog Chocolate Bar is described as“…. rich, dark chocolate charms, only to discover the spiky crunch of toffee and sea salt.”

Another favorite is Chuao Chocolatier

This company is so much fun. I was presented with a cute little ball of fury. OMG the FireCracker Truffles are self explanatory, cute and innocent on the outside, insanely hot yet disturbing pleasant on the inside. I didn’t know which to choose between a date or sitting on the couch and eating these little sexy devils. After I made a mental note of my go-to snack for the evening, I was introduced to the Chocolate-covered Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips. You guys aren’t listening, I said…CHOCOLATE COVERED POTATO CHIPS!! Self explanatory….I need not say anymore, and if you were wondering the couch and the chocolate won my heart for the night. Check out Chuao Chocolates here: http://www.chuaochocolatier.com/
