Concept Korea Spring 2013 Collections

Concept Korea once again gave designers the opportunity to showcase their collections to an international audience at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Show Week Spring 2013 Shows. The collaborative project, in its 6th season and organized by the Ministry of Culture Sports, Tourism of the Republic of Korea, the Daegu Metropolitan City, the Korea Creative Content Agency and the Korea Research Institute of Fashion Industry helped Choiboko, Cres. E Dim, Kye, Lie sang bong and Son Jung Wan show their collections. This season, the theme (as represented in the designer’s backdrops) is Five Korean Traditional Colors, each with a meaning – White (Iron), Red (Fire), Black (Water), Blue (Tree) and Yellow (Ground).

Choiboko

Designer Choi Bo Ko showed a unique and bold collection filled with a vast array of colors and prints. As a designer, his inspirations come from daily life such as people, society and nature.

Cres. E Dim

For Designer Hongbum Kim, the theory of things “gradually getting louder” and “gradually getting softer” is his fashion philosophy, hence the name of his collection – Cres. e Dim. To say his collection spoke volumes is an understatement. From his bold asymmetrical mullet (high-low style) wrap dresses and skirts to his divine peekaboo zipper jacket and structured harem pants, he is definitely a designer to watch.

KYE

Kathleen Kye loves having fun with fashion as you can see, here she presents playful, artistic and distinct fashion concepts for her collection. We’re loving the bold patterned tights and the unconventional, coordinating stirups.

Lie sang bong

Structured is one word to describe Lie Sang Bong’s collection. Influenced by architecture, shapes and art, his 2013 collection features a lot of sophistication and uniqueness – volume, form and surprise details highlight his a flair for the slightly dramatic

Son Jung Wan

A Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and editor favorite, Son Jung Wan collection sings. Her use of minimalism and sleek silhouettes only highlight her ultra chic and feminine aesthetic. Her collection was romantic and gorgeous, true old Hollywood glam at its best.
