Joy Cioci Spring 2013 Collection Presentation

Welcome Guest blogger, Lindsay Lee of blackandblondeone.com as she covers the Joy Cioci Presentation for mylifeonandofftheguestlist.com. Lindsay was one of the many fab bloggers who attended a few Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week shows for us alleviating our crazy show schedule. Check out Joy Cioci’s beach themed collection.

At Joy Cioci’s Spring 2013 presentation, it was all about fun in the sun. From the sandy risers to the crashing wave soundtrack, the setting was perfect for a charming beach themed collection. Cioci showed separates, swimwear, and fanciful accessories with retro Americana touches.

The color scheme with mostly light blues and whites with a sprinkling of digital prints. A heavy amount of scalloped lace, resembling waves, was used both as a trim and an updated headpiece meant to serve as a stylized swim cap. While the details may have held a vintage appeal, the silhouettes varied, ranging from drop waist gowns to asymmetric sheer skirts. It seemed as though the collection was more of an evolution of traditional spring fashions, rather than a solely vintage-inspired line. Together with the details ranging from pearls to paillettes and lace to sheer fabrics, the looks became cohesive.

Besides clear eyewear, the models wore strong blue and silver eyes with a shimmered cheek to create a whimsical, mermaid-esque feel. The hair was pulled back in a ponytail, but with fingerwaves on one side, continuing to play on the retro look. Overall, Cioci presented an innovative, sophisticated collection all while keeping it light-hearted and fun. Even the models were dancing, flirting, and having a good time! It was just what spring called for, an invigoration and rebirth of lively, enjoyable fashion.
