J. McLaughlin Summer 2013 Collection Preview

Whenever I think of summer I can’t help but think of classic American clothing, maybe it’s because it’s the season of sailing and nautical inspirations in fashion, classic lightweight styles and weekend jaunts to the Hamptons. So it’s not difficult to think of J. McLaughlin when thinking of classic American summer fashion. For their summer 2013 collection, Creative Director Kevin McLaughlin was inspired by the “quiet authority” of the color blue.

“The palette married with our prints in all their permutations elevates something like a bohemian dress to downright elegant and takes the classics up a notch with a sense of fun.” – Creative Director, Kevin McLaughlin

The collection takes every shade from aqua to azure mixed with complementary hues, a portfolio of compelling J. McLaughlin prints like paisleys, florals, checks, zigzag and cheetah in silk georgette, crinkled cotton, daytime sequins, whisper-weight wool, bi-stretch cotton fabrications and J. McLaughlin’s trademark Catalina cloth.

The collection features looks that are easy, natural, and modern in their simplicity. The perfect combination of the easy, sophisticated Hamptons chic and fun Palm Beach-esque prints, boho elegance
and American classicism. The styles of the J. McLaughlin Accessories fit perfectly with the chic, easy-going and sophisticated women’s collection – hobos in boldly colored, butter-soft leathers, wicker and bamboo clutches, lizard-embossed leather structured bamboo clutches in muted pastels and neutral hues.
