First Look | PENTAX Launches Color to Order Camera System

PENTAX posed the question “What if colors didn’t have to be kept inside?” As a fan of photography and a blogger who takes her own photos, I invested in a DSLR but it is bulky and of course it only comes in basic black which as a lover of bold colors like pink, is a bit of a downer for me (I do punch it up with a bright pink camera strap from Capturing Couture). Pentax actually answered their own question with a stunning array of K-50 DSLR, K-500 DSLR and compact Q7 cameras in numerous brilliant and eye-catching color combinations. No longer will you have to settle for a boring looking camera.

The mid-level PENTAX K-50 DSLR is available in 120 brilliant and eye-catching color combinations and sets a new standard in the customization of electronics with its Color to Order system, an industry first which makes this a breeze to show your style and personality with a unique offering of colors; it allows you to accent your personal style by selecting a body and grip color.

The entry-level PENTAX K-500 DSLR augments PENTAX’s DSLR lineup by including advanced features not found in the entry-level class. Perfect for families and casual photographers, “the K-500 features a 16 megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor, fast continuous shooting, high sensitivity shooting up to ISO 51200, 100% field of view, in-body shake reduction, and an advanced auto focus module”. The K-500’s wide selection offers simple user-modes and creative tools that enable limitless personalized expressions while its ergonomics and menu layout make it comfortable to use.

With the compact Q7 also available in 120 color combinations thanks to PENTAX’s Color To Order™ system, it ensures there is a camera for every taste and style along with features and settings to match. The Q7 is the smallest and lightest compact system camera in the world which allows creative control to the consumer with a complete system of interchangeable lenses, filters, viewfinders, and fun smart effects and digital filters. The Q7 features an upgraded 1/1.7 inch, back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, high sensitivity shooting up to ISO 12800 and enhanced Q ENGINE with faster response time during start-up and shooting time

The K-50 DSLR will hit retailers nationwide July 2013 with a suggested retail price of $699.95 for body only, $779.95 for the kit including the DA-L 18-55mm WR lens and $879.95 for the dual lens kit including the DA-L 18-55mm WR and DA-L 50-200mm WR lenses.
