Layering was the key at the IMPROVD Spring 2012 Collection Presentation; structured and asymmetrical vests were layered over maxi dresses, long tunics and dresses were paired with skirts and pants; lots of loose draping were seen in dresses and blouses; lots of length were seen in vests, skirts and blouses – a cornucopia of various silhouettes all in a mix of dark blue, red, grey and green
Designer, Valentino Vettori, got his inspiration from the movement, colors and texture of the parrot. The inspiration was seen in the models makeup and hair (which were as colorful as a parrot’s tail) – even the shoes were reminiscent of the parrot’s claws. I admit when a fellow blogger who went to the presentation early told me the inspiration was the parrot, I expected lots of in your face color, feathers, etc but I was pleasantly surprised and happy the inspiration wasn’t so literal.
