Stepping into Hypebeast’s 41 Division in Chinatown was like stepping into a time machine, whisking us away to the nostalgic world of CASIO’s 50-year journey of innovation in timepieces. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as we journeyed through the brand’s illustrious history.
The exhibition, aptly titled “Down to Business: 50 Years of Watch Innovation,” was more than just a showcase; it celebrated CASIO’s enduring legacy. From March 28th to 29th, the exhibit’s attendees will enjoy a retro-inspired experience that pays homage to the brand’s iconic designs and groundbreaking technologies.
Upon entering the space, we were greeted by a meticulously curated gallery that transported us back in time. A vintage office setup awaited, adorned with classic CASIO advertisements, retro tech gadgets, and nostalgic office decor. It was a feast for the eyes, offering a glimpse into the past while highlighting the brand’s evolution over the decades.
But the celebration didn’t stop there. As guests mingled and reminisced, they were treated to an array of delights for the senses. Delectable eats and craft cocktails tantalized taste buds, while the rhythmic beats of DJ Yazmine Rosario set the mood for an unforgettable experience.
Of course, the stars of the show were CASIO’s iconic timepieces, proudly displayed throughout the exhibition. Among them, the re-release of the Casiotron watch stole the spotlight. As the world’s first digital watch with an automatic calendar, it represented a pivotal moment in the brand’s history and a testament to its commitment to innovation.
But the surprises didn’t end with the Casiotron. Guests were also treated to unique souvenirs, including ring watches dispensed from vending machines—an unexpected twist that added an element of fun and whimsy to the event.
As we bid farewell to the celebratory event, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for being part of such a momentous occasion. CASIO’s 50th anniversary celebration was not just a tribute to the past, but a glimpse into the future of watchmaking—a future shaped by five decades of relentless innovation and a commitment to pushing boundaries.
