GIVEAWAY: Art of Zippo with Fire Artist Steven Spazuk

There are so many incredible ways to create beautiful works of art. We’ve had the pleasure of experiencing quite a few through personal experiences and through museum visits, but the most amazing form of visual art creation we’ve seen was at the Art of Zippo event with Fire Artist, Steven Spazuk. Using the flame of a Zippo windproof lighter, Steven created some of the most stunning portraits we’ve ever seen, and to celebrate, we’re giving away a really cool Art of Zippo gift set that includes a genuine and original chrome Zippo Windproof Lighter (as seen in Die Hard), and a handcrafted Case Trapper with Caplifter Pocket Knife. Read on for more information on this cool Art of Zippo giveaway.

The unique technique, called “fumage”, allows the artist to paint with fire instead of the traditional tools such as paintbrushes. To showcase this sensational talent, Zippo has launched a captivating video highlighting how Steven uses a flame to create an original artwork and reveals how he expertly harnesses the power of fire.

The extraordinary footage features Steven “attacking the paper” with the flame of a Zippo windproof lighter and other fire tools and then retouching his designs by etching patterns with natural bird feathers and blades. Filmed in his studio in Montreal, Steven divulges how his unique artistic approach originated and his inspiration. Steven’s art style, which originally came to him in a dream, is steeped in improvisation and spontaneity and is something he has worked on perfecting for the last 14 years. His long-held affinity for his own Zippo windproof lighter, dating back to his days as a college art student. Regarding the Zippo campaign, Steven said the following:

“The flame is something that truly inspires my art; once I found my way of working with fire, I knew it would become my voice and I should be committed to that craft. A Zippo lighter has always been a part of my toolbox, and I also love how it can be a piece of art in itself. To me, it’s both a muse and a tool, so Zippo is a stimulating brand to work alongside.”

While at the Art of Zippo event, we also got to see the phenomenal impact and appearances Zippo Lighters have made on not just in the everyday lives of regular people, but in the entertainment industry as well. You may recognize Zippo lighters in the following movies: Die Hard, Charlie’s Angels, Indiana Jones, X-Men, etc

For 85 years, Zippo has brought unmatched levels of artistic talent to the smallest of canvases – from the early years of etching and hand-painted details to today’s cutting-edge 360-degree MultiCut engraving. With over 300,000 designs created since 1932, Zippo continues to push the boundaries of design, as well as inspire many other brands and organizations, as seen below:

By partnering with Steven Spazuk, Zippo is proud to continue showcasing art in all its forms. Steven has brought his unique artistic talent to a new limited edition Zippo windproof lighter, featuring his unique and hauntingly beautiful artwork, which is available now to order from Zippo.com.

Now on to the giveaway. Want to see exactly what you’re going to win? As stated at the beginning of this post, one person will win a chrome Zippo Windproof Lighter and a handcrafted Case Trapper with Caplifter Pocket Knife (pictured below)

Getting everyone back up to speed, we’ve had a bit of a whirlwind experience with spirits, one of which was tequila. As Tequila Herradura knows, there is no shortcut to greatness, which is why they the last true Tequila-producing hacienda on the planet, a sentiment highlighted through their new campaign and mirrored in the career of Eric Krasno. The Tequila Herradura Luck Is Earned campaign, which rolls out its first creative in the United States on September 16th in conjunction with Mexican Independence Day. The campaign features real people who emulate the courage of Tequila Herradura by resisting compromise and exceeding standards on the path to greatness. It honors the brand’s iconic horseshoe, demonstrating it isn’t just a symbol of good fortune, but a testament to Tequila Herradura’s commitment to excellence since 1870, when Aurelio Lopez found a horseshoe in his agave fields, and named his tequila “Herradura”, horseshoe in Spanish. It showcases how Tequila Herradura is crafted with a balance of respect for traditional processes with industry-leading innovation at the last true tequila-producing hacienda on the planet, a true piece of Mexico’s cultural fabric.

“We’re excited to launch a global marketing campaign that illustrates Tequila Herradura’s history, heritage and tequila leadership,” said John Tichenor, VP Global Brand Director, Tequila Herradura. “The ‘Luck Is Earned’ campaign not only reinforces the brand’s courageous legacy, but pays tribute to our consumers’ real stories of conviction and eminence.”

One of those talents was the extremely talented Eric Krasno, who enchanted the crowd with his career trajectory and performed an electrifying 30 minute set of jazz-funk music that blew the crowd away.

Get the Tea: Twinings of London’s The Art of Earl Grey

Do you still love the products you enjoyed as a child? Whether it’s something you enjoyed to eat or drink, played with, etc. We certainly do; there are brands we grew up that we still use to this day, one of which is Twinings of London tea. You already know of our obsession with all things tea, so we write this with a great deal of pleasure. We had the great pleasure of being invited to celebrate Twinings of London’s The Art of Earl Grey, the three newest flavor additions to the brand’s long legacy of fine teas (they have 300 years of tea expertise under their belt).

For those not in the know, Earl Grey is a black tea infused with bergamot, it is aromatic, flavorful, a great energy booster, and one of the two most popular blends of black tea in the world (English Breakfast is the other). Twinings has been blending Earl Grey tea for almost two centuries. The Twinings of London’s The Art of Earl Grey Collection includes Earl Grey – Extra Bold, Earl Grey – Jasmine, and Earl Grey – Lavender. Seeing as January is Hot Tea Month, it’s the perfect time to honor the new flavors.

Earl Grey – Extra Bold

Like the other two blends, the Earl Grey – Extra Bold is a modern twist on the classic tea. Starting with Twinings of London’s original Earl Grey tea, they then added more of its exquisite flavor to create a mouthwatering tea with a rich, vibrant taste.

Earl Grey – Jasmine

The Earl Grey – Jasmine is a smooth, uplifting blend that is known for its intoxicating aroma and slightly sweet taste. The uplifting flavor of jasmine creates an aromatic tea that will light up your day.

Earl Grey – Lavender

Get ready to sit back and relax with the soothing taste of the warm, inviting Earl Grey – Lavender tea. Known for its fresh, floral aroma and soothing taste, the luxurious flavor of lavender creates a rewarding tea that will calm and soothe your soul.

Along with enjoying several cups of the new teas in their flavorful glory, we also got to enjoy quite a few Earl Grey variety cocktails including The Canterbury, a bourbon rum hot toddy with Earl Grey – Extra Bold, The Newcastle, a white rum old fashioned with Earl Grey – Jasmine, and The Strand, a Gin Collins with Earl Grey – Lavender.

We also had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Stephen Twining (pictured below), a 10th Generation Twining. Along with singing the praises of Twinings tea to him, we had the opportunity to ask him a question we have wondered about since we first started drinking Twinings – what’s the significance of the “S” on the brand name? If you notice, his last name has no S.

As it goes:

When Richard Twining (The Grandson of the founder) put up the doorway to our Strand Shop in 1787, he did not like the ” ” at the end of the name, so removed it. Thus creating our brand name.

It’s not at all what we expected but I love that little detail. So there it is tea lovers, the new flavors that make up the Twinings of London’s The Art of Earl Grey collection. All three flavors, and so much more, are all available now on the Twinings website. Are you eager to try these new Earl Grey varieties?
