Diesel Black Gold featured some vintage influences to the trendy urban collection. Diesel’s signature cool denim is continually chic and in-your-face, in fact when describing the Fall 2011 collection, the word subtle is not to be found and that’s exactly how the Diesel consumer wants it and Sophia Kokosalaki did not disappoint.
The touch edgy women’s looks were softened with butter soft suedes and leathers, reversible shearlings and cozy knitwear. Some of the leather looks had unfinished edges and asymmetrical lines, which reminded me of some of the costumes from the 1966 Raquel Welsh movie, One Million Years B.C – with a longer hemline of course.
Funny enough, I found myself more drawn to the menswear looks. The menswear seemed more structured; old military influences from the days when men forever looked polished and ceaseless in their uniforms, their bodies stiff and solid but their hearts tired and weary as they yearn for the loves they left behind – a very romantic hard edge if you will
