Julie Dillon Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 Collections

Discovering new brands is a wonderful thing, especially when they influence your wardrobe. I’ve recently covered quite a few new-to-me brands that offer some beautiful dresses and I’m happy to introduce another. Julie Dillon is a contemporary dress line located in New York that offers great styles for petite to plus sizes and every size in between; their looks are available at Nordstrom and boutiques nationwide. For Fall 2011, the chic collection features lots of prints, bold prints, ultra feminine touches

Spring 2012 welcomes lots of colorful and bold geometric prints and patterns, color blocking mixing statement colors with neutrals, soft flowly and asymmetrical silhouettes, statement shifts, belted tiered and ruffled dresses – most of which give a nod to the colorful 60’s era.

The Julie Dillon woman is on trend with her own unique sense of style; the effortless silhouettes give the Julie Dillon woman a work – to – play chic versatility in her everyday wardrobe. Every collection is inspired by what would the Julie Dillon woman wear, where is she going and how she moves.

Donna Morgan 2011 Fall/Holiday & 2012 Resort/Spring Collections

My curves (and I) are more than happy to discover a fabulous brand, though it’s not new, it is new to me and I could kick myself for not being more familiar with this female body loving collection. I had the pleasure of previewing the Donna Morgan 2011 Fall/Holiday Collection and 2012 Resort/Spring Collection – naturally I fell in love with everything I saw.

2011 Fall/Holiday Collection

For Fall/Holiday, modern looks, in both solid colors and bold geometric prints are found in matte jersey, textured knits, ponte and scuba fabrications that make any woman look instantly sophisticated. You will also find on trend touches such as ruching, draping, zippers, color blocking and leather detailing. What’s more, all the looks are perfect for an easy day to night transition.

2012 Resort/Spring Collection

For Resort/Spring 2012, color and softness is key for Donna Morgan. We see mustard, black/white prints, ivory, hot pink, coral, banana, etc in ultra feminine fabrics such as chiffon, silk, crepe jersey, lace that moves with the body. Lots of draping, more color blocking, asymmetrical lines and more bold prints dance throughout the collection. It’s no wonder this versatile collection is flattering to women of all sizes. To see petite-framed Camille Grammer and voluptuous Mo’Nique (both huge fans) looking uber fabulous in Donna Morgan dresses is the best testimonial to this dynamic brand’s flattering silhouettes.

SOREL Footwear Searches for Fabulous and Fearless Women w/ Twitter Contest

I’m sure you’ve seen the very distinct ad campaign from SOREL Footwear while perusing the fall fashion books – black and white drawings featuring strong… fearless women – Catherine the Great, Amelia Earhart and Joan of Arc. This campaign stems from the heritage of the SOREL brand and their longstanding admiration for beautifully bold women. With their boots, SOREL have honored great women of the past and they are now looking to celebrate fearless women of the present. As part of their Fall Fearless Campaign, SOREL Footwear is launching a Fearless Women Twitter contest running from September 22nd through Nov. 3rd that gives you a chance to win one of these three fearless styles:

Their Cate the Great™ boot (above) honors Catherine the Great, who ruled Russia as a single woman, expanding and modernizing the empire.

The Joan of Arctic™ celebrates Joan of Arc, who led the French Army to victory over England and was later named a patron saint of France.

And the Sorelia Earhart™ pays homage to Amelia Earhart – a woman who captured the heart of the nation with her attempt to fly around the world and believed that, “There is more to life than being a passenger.”

To enter SOREL’s Twitter Giveaway, simply tell them about a fearless woman in your life by tweeting to @SorelFootwear and using hashtag #SORELfearless. Share what makes her fearless and the both of you (guys, this means you too, SOREL has great mens shoes) may end up with a pair of SORELs from their new fall/winter line.

Between now and November 3, 2011, SOREL will honor 18 fearless women and the amazing person that nominated them with a pair of SORELs named after the bold women who have inspired them. All winners will hear from SOREL by November 11, 2011.

Wacoal’s Fall 2011 Collection

Finding the right bra is like finding the right man (perfect man – if they exist). Both must caress you, feel great against your skin, make you feel comfortable while giving you the full support you need. I may still be waiting for the right man but I do believe I’ve found the right bra. I’ve complained many a time about my bust’s express lane travel from a B cup to a D cup (thanks to Wacoal, I found out that I’m a double D), and though some women would kill to be as gifted as I am now, I am more comfortable with a smaller cup and I tried out several bras to help conceal my bountiful gifts. I never found the right one that minimized my bust until I discovered Wacoal’s Retro Chic Full Figure Underwire Bra.

This modern-looking Retro Chantilly Lace Bra promises to fit like a glove and make you feel like a million bucks – and I do. As someone with a fuller bust, the bras I come across tend to get a bit grandma-ish as they get bigger in cup size. This bra has a Sheer mesh top cup that is light and airy on the body. It features flat seams that disappears under clothes for tremendous lift, shape, and support.

This was not the only fabulous bra Wacoal featured….I fell in love with several favorites including the Embrace Lace Contour Bra – a smooth, soft, stretch foam contour cup t-shirt bra with a dramatic open neckline and scalloped lace frame

Rare Beauty Underwire Bra – a beautiful underwire bra with decorative embroidery on sheer mesh cups and satin details

Wacoal also introduced their younger, edgier and coquettish collection – b.tempt’d. If you love more provocative lingerie, then look no further than b.tempt’d ‘s Collection. Two of my favorites include the La Parisienne Bustier, a fishnet print and striped mesh bustier that is quite bewitching. You’re sure to feel sexier wearing it

Ciao Bella Balconette Bra – seduction is the true name of this bra. This sexy bra features corded lace overlay, a dramatic scallop at neckline with a touch of fishnet at the sides and a romantic little bow

In addiction to enjoying the benefits of the Retro Chic Underwire bra, I am also taking the Wacoal 28-day Anti-Cellulite iPant Challenge. The iPant is made from LYCRA® beauty fabric which shapes and sculpts as it releases ingredients into your skin while you move throughout the day.

I am currently on day 14 of the 28-day challenge and so far, I am happy with the results but that’s for another post.

Lands’ End Fall 2011 Outerwear Preview

Although its difficult to think about cold weather while the temperature is eighty and above, days like today when its raining all day put me in the mindset for cooler days, autumn leaves and outerwear. And no one does outerwear like Lands’ End. Their Fall 2011 Outerwear Collection features classic styles and exclusive features such as toggle closures, Nautical and military-inspired silhouettes and pops of color that are seen in their coats and cold weather accessories.

Some of my favorite Lands’ End cold weather accessories include this adorable multi-striped knit scarf and gloves with button detail and the colorful scarves offered in general

Another great offering from Lands’ End are wonderful Down Feather jackets, coats and vests for the whole family. With special features like fun prints for girls, diamond quilted patterns for women, detachable fur hoods and collars, pull seams on kids jackets that extend an inch and a half for when they grow, soft cozy inner fleece linings for extra warmth and metallic colors

Lands’ End Outerwear is a must have for anyone’s closet as they are all classic pieces that will last you a very long time. Are you ready for Fall?

American Eagle Fall 2011 Preview

American Eagle charms us for Fall 2011 with its usual casual comfort in an array of prints, bold colors, mixing of textures, layering and a few surprise pieces. The brand continues to make their pieces possible to mix and match which makes American Eagle a go to brand. Featuring more than just their super comfy T-shirts, denim, totally live-in sweatshirts, American Eagle wowed with several must haves.

American Eagle has definitely grown up, I am loving this sleek tapered Navy Blazer with the black piping and this surprising chic belted trench with the faux fur collar – both classic looks that are quite sophisticated and should be staples in your closet.

Back to American Eagle’s well-known comfort, I could live in the cardigan featured below – A perfect layering piece, I mean eat, sleep, whatever….it just looks so inviting, it makes me feel very much at home with a mug of cocoa.

My other star piece is this muted grey motocycle-esque suede vest with a detachable faux-shearling collar. Super soft to the touch, this vest is another must have layering piece to help transition to the colder NYC months.

American Eagle is definitely moving in the right direction, they should expect to see several more consumers walking through their doors and perusing their racks for these great pieces. I already have my list ready. Do you? Enjoy a few more looks below
