I got to go backstage to witness the magic of backstage beauty during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2013. I was definitely in my element. L’Oréal Professionnel Portfolio Artist Joseph DiMaggio served as lead stylist and accented Timo Weiland’s S/S 2013 collection with hair inspired by 80s-90s hip-hop culture with a high fashion touch.

It was all about the textured, high ponytail and flat twists. It was important to DiMaggio to have the hair off the neck for spring and summer. DiMaggio also mentioned that the zig-zag patterns in the collection were to coincide with the parts in the hair and the crimping of the ponytail. With ponytail extensions by Lox Extensions; crimping the ponytail with a flat iron was necessary for the textured look.
Slicked back high pony tail was achieved using Mythic Oil Milk, a oil that is packaged as a spray. All looks were given hold with L’Oreal Infinium 3 spray.

The male models were donned by slicked back hair with a sharp part in the front. The stylists used NARS “Larger Than Life” long wear eye pencil in “Rue Bonaparte” to give the shaved effect. L’Oreal Professionnel Volume Expand Volumizing Leave-In was used to prep the hair and L’Oreal Professionnel Architexture to smooth and gloss the hair in the end.
NARS artists were on hand to create the strong eyebrow look and lined eye. Everything else for the face was kept simple.
