Two Weeks with The BlackBerry Playbook

Remember when I told you guys that I wish I had the BlackBerry Playbook? You can see my drooling HERE. Well my wish was granted…..well kinda….I got a chance to try out the BlackBerry Playbook for two weeks. Though I am not a technical girl, I know what I like and I usually like tech toys that are easy to use, small to carry, and allows the option to grow. Several sites give more technical reviews, I’d call mine a more emotional one….why? Because I fell head over heels in love with the BlackBerry Playbook.

As far as style it fits me perfectly. It’s sleek, chic, smart and fits perfectly in my handbag. The back of the Playbook is a muted ruberrized shell with a small metal BlackBerry insigna in the very middle. All the usual suspects are already available – App World, Weather, Music Store, YouTube, etc and some extras that usually have to be downloaded like Facebook, Twitter, Kobo Books, Bing Maps, Gmail, Hotmail, AOL Mail, Marie Claire, YahooMail, Slacker Radio, games – NFS Undercover, MindBuddy and Tetris and more.

Naturally it has all the BlackBerry staples – Excel Doc, PowerPoint, Adobe Reader, Word Doc so you can work on the go and from anywhere – say goodbye to being stuck at the office. Each document opened quite quickly and with ease. New documents were a breeze, just as good as being in your office. In other words, its the perfect Tablet for work and play.

As I stated before, I’m not a techie so of course I had to call customer service a couple of times. First to set up my passwords and secondly to delete the amazingly crystal clear pictures I mistakenly took while getting acquainted with the Playbook. Both calls went smoothly and the tech reps were very helpful and YES, you speak with an actual human who walks you through each steps, so there is no fear if you are not tech savvy. Once I got more acquainted, I couldn’t wait to try it all that the BlackBerry Playbook offers, including beating my high score on MindBuddy.

The only issue I had and I’m sure it must have been my internet connection, was that downloading took a while. Being a New Yorker, I’m sure my impatience surely needs a little adjustment but I felt powering up/powering on also took a while as well – it took 1 minute and 20 seconds to get to the main menu but I chalked it up to just being overly excited and anxious to start using this amazing device. Other than that I don’t have any complaints. I even appreciated the volume being quite sharp and loud with the option on the top of the pad to adjust to my comfort level. Lastly, one of my favorite aspects is the battery life, quite exceptional at over 8 hours. This two week trial makes me want the BlackBerry Playbook even more….sigh
