And the Events Continue….Part 3 (Finally, the end of the Evening)

So we hop on down to meet Angelique* at West 3rd Street and head to the Village Underground.

I haven’t been there in years but it’s a good place to go hear live music and the band appreciates interaction with the crowd, infact, it’s mandatory. So is the 2 drink minimum person but if you order food instead of drinks, you’ll be ok. Anyway, we got there a bit after 9:30pm (show starts at 9:30pm). The band is huge, I think there are at least 14 people in the entire band but they’re really cool.

So we (Zia*, Angelique*, a friend of theirs and I) order our drinks/food combo and settle in to listen. They are not only good singers, they’re quite funny as well (one of the band members has this thing where he will stare at you for like 5 minutes straight…ok it’s more weird than funny but they do tell jokes and act silly).

We’re serenaded with music from the 80’s, 90’s etc and it’s a fun ole time. Then we are surprised to be introduced to Cheryl “Pepsi” Riley, known best for her song, “Thanks for my Child”.

Anyway, she hasn’t lost voice, her pipes are no where near rusty. She’s still amazing, in other words, the girl was still blow. And blow she sure did, I never knew the theme song to The Wonder Years could sound like gospel on a Sunday morning

As the night went on, they introduced various singers that perform with them throughout the week, we sang along (sometimes badly), danced along (and laughed at those who couldn’t seem to catch the beat), toasted Zia’s* birthday and at almost 1am called it a night. It is at this point that I realize that no matter what I do, I cannot stop my throat issue. My sore throat is now official and here to stay.

GREAT!!
