The Limited showcased some key trends for the Holiday 2009 season including a soft-Collared Pea Coat (my favorite – in Electric Lemonade), Cowl-neck Sweaters, Neon colors, fur, Asian Influences, Tweed Trousers, Black White Tuxedo Separates, Cocoon Coats and Sweaters, Infinity Scarves, Obi belts, etc. They also re-introduced the Forenza Sweater, a must have product originally launched in 1984 (mine was red, it was the only color I wanted as I was going through a red phase), during their Holiday 2009 Preview held at their showroom.
Upon entering, I was surrounded by gorgeous colorful and chic ensembles, the fabrics so rich and vibrant, their textures so inviting to touch (something no one could resist). As I stated above, the Soft-Collared Pea Coat was my favorite (I think I’ve found my new coat for the cold season). Made from a Wool Poly-blend, it will be available in sizes S – XL and in the following colors – the above stated Electric Lemonade (yellow), Teal, Hunter Green, Black, Deep Red and Hornstooth and will retail for $128
I loved the Pea Coat’s details, like to faux cuff, the pin tucked collar and the element of nature featured in the buttons
Other great influences we can expect to see this holiday season is color – big, bright, bold neon colors as is evident in The Limited’s Scarves and accents; a look that brings vibrancy to Tweed separates
Another big trend is the Black and White tuxedo separates; all of which can happily be mixed and matched with each other – a great victory for anyone who wants to get the most out of their wardrobe in this economy
The above last outfit brings remind me of the look our First Lady is looks so much and that is the belted cardigan/coat. A look that can be achieved with The Limited’s Obi Belt (as seen in the first photo below)
I interviewed The Limited’s Jennifer Guerra, the PR Manager for the brand about this look – see below
As stated at the beginning, The limited will re-introduce the Forenza Sweater. Now for those of you who either lived under a rock or was not a child of the 80’s, let me tell you about the Forenza: Launched in 1984 to satisfy the hunger for the European Preppy look that was currently taking over the nation, the shaker stitch knit Sweater could be worn backwards and normally (so you basically got two sweaters in one – at least I thought so). This phenominal sweater fits right into the 80’s comback we’ve been experiencing over the past few years. Side note – if you google Forenza Sweater, you’ll notice multiple mentions of it on 80’s affiliated websites and former owners proclaiming their love
As you can see above, the Forenza has been updated a bit, with a cowl neck and as a topper style or cocooning cardigan. But even with the slight differences, you can wear it as we all did in the 80’s – leggings for a more casual look or dress it up and go chic for work or a night out. This new version will come in eight colors including the 80’s inspired neon colors. A new addition has been added to the Shaker stitch line – the Infinity Scarf
The Forenza Sweaters and scarves will be available at all Limited stores and online at theLimited.com. The cowl neck sweater will retail for $59.50, the Topper (or Cocooning Cardigan) for $79.00 and the Infinity scarf for $39.50. The Cowl and Scarf will come in a variety of colors, such as Vibrant Red, Dark Raspberry, Dark Teal, Modern Black, Classic Off-White, Neon Yellow, New Geranium, Bright Magenta, Orange Pop, Classic Stallion and Ballgown Blue and the Topper will only be available in Grey Day, Classic Stallion and Burgundy
Along with all that I’ve mentioned above, The Limited also featured some gorgeous cocoon coats
and very chic Accessories. Brief fashion forecast – studs and other hardware (metal) are very in for bags and The Limited is right on trend
The Renaissance-era necklace above is exquisite, I immediately thought back to my college art history class where our professor stated that women would wear their most beautiful necklaces whenever a great impression was to be made. It was all about the jewelry back then
Besides the Electric Lemonade Pea Coat, I also covet this darling sweater, the bow makes it so feminine and being the girly girl that I am, of course I fell in love
Before I left I took some general video of some of the preview, check it out below
On the way out, thanked everyone, grabbed a giftbag which included a lovely bright purple and heather grey striped scarf and headed to the next event
