Bess Spring 2012 Collection

When the invitation for Bess’s Spring 2012 show arrived in my mailbox, I didn’t know what to expect – you see I knew very little about Bess except for a cute pair of studded sandals I spied on vogue.com back in the early spring so I figured if its in vogue, I must check it out. I ventured far away from the tents to their store location on Lafayette Street and entered a world of color in overdrive, mixed bold prints, eclectic decor, lots of leather and studs (in the audience too) and unconventional fashion.
The show and ambiance reminded me of the long ago Keith Haring’s paintings – coincidentally I later found out Bess’s location used to be Keith Haring’s Pop Shop – perfect fit. If I were to categorize this design aesthetic, i’d say its very club kid.

Amidst the quirky collection, I found several pieces that caught my eye (as you can see above) – especially the shoes. I suddenly am dying for a pair of hot pink wedge platform converse sneakers. Of course neon green with multi-colored stones and grommets will absolutely work as well.

Bess’s looks for men were even more unconventional but in a world where hardcore rapper Lil Wayne wears animal print jeggings for women, these will do more than fine

I left the Bess Spring Spring 2012 Show with thoughts of sheer polka dot dresses (my fav clothing piece from the collection), platform converse sneakers and the Cazwell’s “Ice Cream Truck” song which has been playing non-stop in my head during fashion week. See below for more from the collection
