Structure and movement, like what is seen in the works of Spanish Artist, Santiago Calatrava, is the inspiration for the Lela Rose Fall 2012 Collection. Calatrava’s sculptures always look like they are in the midst of motion and its this aspect that influences the essence of Lela Rose’s feminine daytime and evening collection – “… this whole kind of poetic fluidity through everything” – Lela Rose (a self-proclaimed architecture buff).
Much like the twisted metal, stacked beams and curved stones seen in his sculptures, Lela Rose’s collection featured geometric and digital prints, angular stripes, and colorful graphic fabrics to “effortlessly balance geometry with a natural fluidity”. Her color palette included grays, rust, amber, dark bronze, white, black, and white silver. Favorite looks include the very chic cable-stayed plaid side pleated dress (2nd image), the gorgeous two-toned gray double-faced graveled cool coat (3rd image) and the ivory silk cloque dress with twisted metal embroidered shoulders (4th image). As with all her collections, it’s no surprise why Lela Rose has such a huge following.
