NYFW Debut: Farm Rio FW17 Collection Makes Its First NYFW Appearance

We find that we enjoying attending fashion presentations a lot more than runway shows during fashion week. For one thing, you’re not waiting an hour for a fifteen-minute show, and my favorite part, you get up close and personal with the fashion looks to see their details. After blowing everyone away at Coterie, 19-year old Brazilian fashion brand Farm Rio, born in a small stand of a fashion flea market, made their first NYFW debut highlighting the brand’s collaboration with Adidas Originals. We know Rio has always been a great source of inspiration for fashion and that is exactly what the Farm Rio FW17 Collection celebrates.

The freezing New York winter temperatures were quickly forgotten when we stepped inside the tropical escape. We sipped on delicious Leblon Caipirinhas while surrounded by tropical plants and feBossanovasanova-inspired Brazilian house music. The Farm Rio FW17 Collection features a vibrant and graphic color palate, with a mix of winter tones illuminated by points of light and hot colors, such as yellow and red. The idea behind this vivid color palate is to bring warmth with a tropical vibe to the cold season proving that you can rock standout colors in the winter. The collection, owned by designers Marcello Bastos and Katia Barros, successfully captures the essence and soul of their lifelong inspiration: the Carioca girl.

The fall and winter seasons have always been ideal moments to layer and mix prints and fabrications, adding a new dimension to contemporary and stylish looks.  As you can see the looks from the Farm Rio FW17 Collection are perfect for layering and blending. The artisanal and handcrafted materials, with an emphasis on crochet, are important aspects of Farm Rio FW17 collection. The collection also boasts fun accessories and head adornments that mix the tropical climate of Rio de Janeiro and Japanese pop culture.

Along with New York’s fashion elite, the presentation was attended by model Niki Taylor and actress Danielle Campbell (pictured in the first photo in one of the Farm Rio looks). The Farm Rio FW17 Collection is available in the US at all doors of Anthropologie, and www.RevolveClothing.com.
