Fit In Fashion Lounge Tailored by amNEWYORK

One of few lounges I got to attend during Fashion Week was the Fit In Fashion Lounge by amNEWYORK. As I enjoyed the time out to breathe and relax a little, I also had the opportunity to learn about some great new brands that were showcasing their products. One such great brand was Cece Toppings. If you’re above the age of 25, then I’m sure you are familiar with Dickies, fashionable little mock shirts you wore under sweaters, blazers, etc (I most had turtleneck versions). Well Cece Toppings has taken the old dickies and added much more chic flair to it

Created by Jamie Turquie, who was tired of the bulkiness of a shirt under her sweater, she took a pair of scissors and cut off all but the visible part of the shirt, leaving only the collar. Her collection features Classic Collars, Peter Pan Collars (which we saw several times on the runway) and Ruffled Collars in lace, metallics, snakeskin, eyelets, and a variety of prints including polka dots, leopard, plaids, paisley, etc.

My next stop was to Chaise23 to get acquainted with their Reinvention Chair, which provides you with an intense cardio workout, burning off countless calories, all done on the revolutionary fitness chair. Fusing sculpting, flexibility, and cardio, this chair isn’t meant for sitting.

suspended bungees from the ceiling, the fitness chair challenges and fatigues both large & small muscles. The constant resistance of the chair and arm-resistance bungees exhausts muscles by using repetitive movements in a seamless, Pilates and ballet based technique, creating a well-toned, long, lean, well-aligned, and sculpted body. The Reinvention Method improves flexibility and balance, defining the entire body. Next stop was to, a members-only site created by Founder and CEO Robin Ross, that provides those who sign up with invitations to exclusive events

From getting on the list to keeping on time, I moved on to Slap Watch, a unique twist on the silicone watch craze and a brand after my own heart, incorporating the addictive mechanism of the spring coil bracelet of the 90’s. I am a child of the 90’s and I did own several slap bracelets so this brought back fond memories while wowing me with the modern twist.

Released in July of 2010 in Germany, Slap Watch is the latest brain child of Big Time Brands. They provide 15 eye popping colors with interchangeable faces which allows for a vast amount of styles. So whether you’re a child of the 90’s or not, you’ll definitely want one or three of these. I took a quick break in between to replenish my energy with a few beverages including Sneaky Pete’s Oat-based Beverages

A collection of delicious, fruity, heart-healthy fiber drinks with an oatstanding nutritional value. I also enjoyed some delicious Vita Coco Coconut Water and Kusmi Tea to warm me up a bit

Up next was Sobe Seamles Tape Hair Extensions and their introduction of the No Heat Tape Hair application

Allowing guests to partake in colorful hair extensions with easy and quick applications in highest quality triple AAA grade Indo-European Temple hair in a variety of textures including beach wave, French wave, brazilian and yaki. My last stop before I had to head back to the shows was to Ricardo Rojas, who I covered doing hair backstage for Walter last season, returned to fashion week to once again showcase his vibrant hair brushes

Vita Coco 100% Coconut Water – Replenishing, Refreshing & Revitalizing

No matter what anyone says, on days like this when the temperature and the humidity are at a ridiculous high, there is absolutely nothing that quenches your thirst and cools you down like a nice cold coconut water. That is why when the temperature started creeping past the 90 degree mark, out came the very refreshing Vita Coco Coconut Water

What makes Vita Coco the standout among other coconut waters? “The coconut water used in Vita Coco comes from green coconuts, not brown coconuts. Young green coconuts are loaded with nutrients, electrolytes and healthful benefits.” Vita Coco is national beverage brand based on a single ingredient: fresh coconut water. Vita Coco is available in a variety of flavors and sizes, and offers the widest selection of flavors and sizes amongst all other coconut water brands.

People from the Caribbean have known the benefits of coconut water for eons, I mean anytime you visit the islands, one of the first things you’re offered is a fresh young coconut filled with refreshing water and if you notice, they’re happier, healthier and hydrated. Why?  Because coconut water offers a long list of benefits:

  •  free of fat, cholesterol, and sugar; low in acidity
  • Contains five essential electrolytes–potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, and phosphorous
  • helps to promote weight loss
  • helps keeps the body cool and at room temperature
  • helps carry nutrients and oxygen to cells and boosts circulation
  • helps detoxify your body and boosts your immune system
  • helps relieve stomach ailments

and lets not forget that it tastes incredibly good!!!

I can personally attest to another benefit of coconut water, particularly Vita Coco; as a migraine sufferer, hydration is essential (the majority of my migraine attacks are because I am dehydrated or very hungry/have low sugar). Two small Vita Cocos work wonders for me, I always keep a stash in my fridge for such occasions. This may not work for all but it does for me. It has cut my migraine prescription intake by half.

As you can tell by the photo above, Vita Coco has introduced several flavor combinations; while I do love the original coconut water, I have discovered and fell in love with the Passion Fruit

and Acai & Pomegrante (I haven’t tried the Peach & Mango yet)

Now, just because Vita Coco has all these wonderful health benefits doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it. In fact I had loads of fun over the weekend and actually discovered a new drink. My first was to add a dash or two of Bacardi Classic Cocktails Pina Colada (which is infused with Coconut Water) to my regular Vita Coco Coconut Water

My next fun drink and new discovery was to mix the delightfully smooth Stoli White Pomegranik mixed with Vita Coco Acai and Pomegrante. I must say I didn’t know what to expect but I figured I’d have a winner and I was right – a very smooth drink to the last drop.

So remember, on those 90 plus degree days or any day for that matter, stay away from the gatorades, sodas, plain waters, etc. Reach for a Vita Coco Coconut instead, you’ll be happier, cooler, more refreshed and healthier. Where can you purchase Vita Coco you may be asking? There are over 14,000 retailers such as, Whole Foods, Stop and Shop, airports, etc. (I usually buy mine at Whole foods but sometimes I get a good deal on amazon).

If you’re still not sure about buying Vita Coco (though I don’t know why you wouldn’t be), checkout the list of celebrities who are die hard fans: Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gisele Bündchen (Brazilians know their coconut water), Rihanna (Caribbean people too), Adrien Grenier, Chris Pine, Demi Moore, Anna Paquin, Steven Moyer, etc

CARRERA Summer Escape

For two days, Carrera Sunglasses treated media, VIPs and other guests to a vacation in the city on the rooftop of the luxurious 505 W 37th St (TF Cornerstone Building) on the most perfectly glorious days

The Carrera Summer Escape returned to NYC this month to give guests a retreat away from their busy lives. I missed last year’s event but I made sure I was in town to fully enjoy and indulge myself this time around. The Carrera Summer Escape served as the ultimate retreat for artists, celebrities and media to relax and enjoy poolside gifting from sought-after brands, luxurious beauty treatments, yoga sessions, live DJ sets and exclusive performances from today’s hottest talent and a host of other enjoyments which took us on a much needed vacation in the city.

We enjoyed RESCUE WATER by AriZona Beverages, Café Bustelo Cold Coffee Drinks, Vita Coco 100% Coconut Water, yummy smoothies, Milagro Tequila and Dos Equis Beer. It was a day of continuous refreshments for the eight hours per day the event lasted

As mentioned above, yoga and beauty treatments were available courtesy of the Townhouse Spa, Hair by Mizu (it was too hot for me), mini makeovers by Covergirl and while many took advantage, I didn’t, opting rather to relax and just enjoy the day in the sun (I have a gift for always messing up my nails seconds after getting a manicure without fail)

I did enjoy the other amenities offered, such as the complimentary t-shirt and free custom screen printing courtesy of Alternative Apparel

as well as the sun protection from Lancaster Sunscreen (and the very hot male model walking around rubbing Lancaster wherever needed). Of course I took advantage of “testing” out Lancaster’s products on this gorgeous young man – so very worth it

Now while there was a great amount of media and other guests, a few celebrities were in attendance while I was here (I didn’t attend the night’s festivities – which started up again at 9:30pm) – both Fox News’s Weatherman, Mike Woods and 90210’s Tristan Wild were in attendance

I’m sure there were more but those were the only ones I personally saw. I’m so happy I got to enjoy this – an amazing event and the folks at LFB Media and BMF Media did an amazingly flawless job – everything was wonderful. See below for more photos from the event
