Joanna Mastroianni Fall 2012 Collection

What inspired Joanna Mastroianni’s Fall 2012 collection, none other than fashion icon, Iris Apfel, who was also in attendance at the designer’s show. The collection follows Mastroianni’s muse on a journey from New York to Paris an on to Asia, taking the audience on an adventure from sophistication, dazzling elegance, captivating style and undaunted flair

Featuring looks in a striking color palette that included gilded colors – burnished gold, bronze, copper and pewter, each ensemble provided numerous gifts for the eyes. The highlights of the collection were the details. Breathtaking ornate touches were seen in ostentatious necklines and magnificently elaborate evening gloves which were faceted, feathered, beaded and bejeweled.

The sweetest moment was when Joanna Mastroianni walked out at the finale, grabbed Iris Apfel from her front row seat and walked with her muse off the runway to a standing ovation

Unfortunately, while celebrating an icon, another passed away; Socialite Zelda Kaplan, probably the most loved fashionista (next to Apfel), died suddenly just as the show began. She will be missed.
