Milam & Greene Whiskey, known for its celebrated bourbon and rye offerings, has introduced Unabridged Volume 3: A Cask-Strength Blend of Straight Bourbon Whiskeys. This limited-edition release is part of the distillery’s esteemed Blender’s Reserve Collection, showcasing rare casks from their warehouse. The Unabridged Volumes series is a literary-themed collection that pays tribute to Master Blender Heather Greene’s book, Whiskey Distilled.
This series reflects the talents of Milam & Greene’s award-winning team, led by Master Blender Heather Greene, named 2023’s “Master Blender of the Year.” Their Unabridged line presents whiskeys at cask strength and non-chill filtered, ensuring authenticity. The distillery’s Master Distiller, Marlene Holmes, was recently recognized as 2024’s “Master Distiller of the Year” by the Women of Whiskey Awards, adding to the distillery’s growing acclaim.
Unabridged Volume 3 is a deep mahogany-colored bourbon with fragrant aromas of caramelized brown sugar, honeysuckle, and oak, complemented by hints of almonds, cigar boxes, and old leather. The palate delivers a smooth, viscous mouthfeel with flavors of sweet cornbread, crème brûlée, vanilla, peanut brittle, and malted milk chocolate. The finish is silky smooth and lingers with marzipan, baking spices, and simple syrup, making it a dangerously smooth pour.
Following its well-regarded predecessors, Unabridged Volume 3 maintains the tradition of excellence. Unabridged Volume 1 debuted in 2022, earning a Double Platinum award at the Ascot Awards. Unabridged Volume 2, released in 2023, also won Double Platinum and was listed among the Top 25 Whiskeys of 2023 by whiskey expert Fred Minnick.
This year’s release is a carefully crafted blend of 49 barrels, combining a 10-year-old and 9-year-old Kentucky bourbon for structure, a 4-year-old Texas malted-rye bourbon for sweetness, and Tennessee bourbon for vanilla and balance. Bottled at 118 proof (59% ABV), it is perfect for sipping neat or with ice.
After a successful pre-release debut at the 2024 Kentucky Bourbon Festival, which sold out over the festive weekend, Unabridged Volume 3 is now available online and in select U.S. retailers.
