Our SS2022 Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week journey takes us to another of our favorite haute couture designer labels, La Métamorphose. The collection, titled, “Le Triomphe des Fleurs” (The Triumph of Flowers), was inspired by the 1735 opera ballet Les Indes Galantes, by Jean-Philippe Rameau. The designers, Ewa Gawkowską and Margaret Szczęsną Marek drew their inspiration for their La Métamorphose SS2022 Collection from these verses:
“Triumph, pleasant flowers! Spread your perfumes, Revive your colors!
“Inconstant Butterfly, Fly in your bocage!” Stop, Suspend the course Of your fickle flame!
With a stunning 21 looks, unique, entirely handmade in the Maison’s workshops, the La Métamorphose SS2022 Collection is a fantasy of fashion. It boasts a selection of exceptional fabrications and materials, all respectful of the environment and made in France.
The collection’s looks are resplendent in Solstiss lace, silk, satin, and tulle, for an impeccable fit and spectacular flair! Looks were featured in enchanting and calming hues. The La Métamorphose SS2022 Collection is teeming with magical cuts, contrasting royal solar gold with the depth of midnight blue and the lightness of anise green.
From fitted trouser suits to evening dresses and more artistic looks, the collection highlights the House’s know-how. La Métamorphose’s spring/summer 2022 haute couture collection demonstrates that art is in the DNA of the creative sisters.
The collection featured flower embroideries that required at minimum a month of work to create. They were all cut and painted by hand; for example, it took a month to create the embroidery on the trouser suit, and two months for the pleating of the dresses.
The butterfly dress, entirely painted by hand, lands in the extraordinary garden of La Métamorphose. It reminds us our planet is a garden and that there is still time for the flowers to triumph again.
