Cocktails to Celebrate the Spirits, Ghosts & Goblins this Day of the Dead

Since we’ll be celebrating all things spooky until the Day of the Dead, we thought we’d share a few more cocktails to celebrate the spirits, ghosts & goblins this Day of the Dead (and of course our birthday), from some of our favorite spirits, like Basil Hayden, Cruzan Rum, DeLeon Tequila, and Milagro Tequila. What good is celebrating the day of the dead without an ongoing supply of delicious cocktails to enjoy. So please open u your home bars and whip u a few or all of these delicioou cocktails.

Basil Hayden’s® Pumpkin Bourbon Cider

Basil Hayden's_Pumpkin Bourbon Cider
2 parts Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon
¾ part Fresh Lemon Juice
½ part Sweet Vermouth
¼ tsp. Superfine Sugar
¾ part Pumpkin Puree
6 dashes Angostura Bitters
2 parts Dry Hard Cider
1 piece of Fresh Nutmeg (for garnish)
1 Cinnamon Stick (for garnish)
Combine pumpkin puree, superfine sugar, sweet vermouth, bitters and lemon juice into a mixing glass. Stir until sugar is nearly dissolved. Add Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon and ice. Stir well and strain into a cocktail glass. Top with dry hard cider. Garnish with grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.

Cruzan® Dark as Night

Cruzan Dark as Night

1 part Cruzan® Black Strap Rum
1/4 part Falernum Syrup
1/2 part Fresh Lime Juice
6 parts Cider
Combine Black Strap, falernum syrup and fresh lime juice in a mixing glass. Pour cider into a rocks glass and slowly float mixture over top of the cider. Finish with fresh grated nutmeg and a lime or orange peel.

Cruzan® Dead Man’s Mai Tai

1 part Cruzan® Aged Light Rum
1/2 part Cruzan® Mango Rum
1/2 part DeKuyper® Triple Sec
1 1/2 part Fresh Sour Mix
1/4 part Orgeat Syrup
Dash of Orange Bitters
Float of Cruzan® Black Strap Rum + Lime Squeeze
Combine the Aged Light Rum, Mango Rum, triple sec, fresh sour, orgeat syrup and bitters in a cocktail shaker. Top with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into iced 14 oz glass. Top with a lime squeeze and a float of Black Strap Rum and garnish with a cherry.

Evil Vibrations

1.5 oz DeLeon™ Platinum Tequila
.5oz Lime Juice
1oz Grapefruit Juice
.75oz Honey Syrup
Cucumber
Muddle ingredients in martini shaker. Strain into collins glass over ice. Garnish with Lime Wedge. Serve in a Collins glass

The Devil’s Beso

1.5 oz DeLeon™ Platinum Tequila
.75oz Lemon Juice
.75oz Simple Syrup
Dry shake ingredients in a martini glass. Add ice, shake. Strain into rocks glass over ice. Float red wine on top. Garnish with Orange Wedge. Serve in a Rocks glass

Blood Orange Margarita

Blood Orange Margarita

1 ½ parts Milagro Silver Tequila
1 part Fresh Lime Juice
¾ part agave nectar
¾ part Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur
Pour all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice. Shake and strain over fresh ice in a salt-rimmed rocks glass. Garnish with orange and lime wheels.

Paloma Negra

2 parts Milagro Silver
1 part Ruby Red Grapefruit (FRESH)
0.75 part Agave Nectar
0.5 part Fresh Lime Juice
1 Capsule Activated Charcoal
Top with 3 parts Club Soda
Garnish with Grapefruit Peel & Charcoal and kosher salt rim

 

 

Celebrate America’s Independence w/ Red, White, and Blue(berry) Cocktails

With all the recent tumultuous events we as American have been experiencing, there is not a better time to come together and celebrate the fact that we have freedom to live our lives without threat of persecution…..or at least we shouldn’t be. Let us not forgot the words of our Founding Fathers who wanted us to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What better way than a patriotic cocktail to help us celebrate life, our liberty and our continuous pursuit of happiness. In the spirit of celebration, let’s raise a glass or two of these delicious cocktail recipes from Basil Hayden Whiskey, Cruzan Rum, DeLeón Tequila, and Skinnygirl Cocktails. All of these delicious cocktail recipes are the perfect companion to the fireworks, and fun-filled cookouts.

Toast to America’s Independence with a one of two firecracker cocktails (your choice of tequila or vodka), a sparkler, odes to Independence, and living the dream. This weekend, kick back, be wowed by the beauty of the fireworks, and embrace your freedom to enjoy life.

Firecracker Red Manhattan

2 oz. DeLeón Reposado
½ oz. Cardinal Mendoza Spanish Brandy
¼ oz. Tempus Fugit Creme de Cacao
½ dropper Bittermans Hellfire Shrub
Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass over cracked and cubed ice until thoroughly cold. Strain into a chilled coupe and serve up.

Miss Independence

2 oz. DeLeón Platinum infused with fresh sage
¾ oz. clarified lime juice
¾ oz. fresh cane syrup
Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass over cracked and cubed ice until thoroughly cold. Strain into a chilled coupe and serve up garnished with a sage leaf.

The Firecracker

2 parts Skinnygirl® Bare Naked Vodka
1 part club soda
Watermelon balls, frozen
Toothpick/mini umbrella
Shake vodka with ice. Pour into martini glass and top with club soda. Spear frozen watermelon with a toothpick and drop in glass.

Blueberry Sparkler

2 parts Skinnygirl® Bare Naked Vodka
5 muddled blueberries
Dash of grenadine
Splash of club soda
Lemon wedge for garnish
Muddle blueberries at the bottom of a glass, add in Skinnygirl® Bare Naked Vodka and grenadine. Then, top off glass with club soda. Garnish with lemon wedge.

Star Struck Sipper

5 parts Skinnygirl® White Peach Margarita
Star fruit wedge for garnish
Pour Skinnygirl® White Peach Margarita over ice. Garnish with star fruit.

Basil Hayden’s Independence Spice (Created by Kristi Green)

1 ½ parts Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon
½ part Fresh Lemon Juice
¾ parts Simple Syrup
7 Blackberries
7 Mint Leaves
2-3 parts Sparkling Wine
Muddle 6 blackberries and 6 mint leaves in a Boston Shaker with ¼ part simple syrup. In the mixing glass, combine Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon, lemon juice and remaining simple syrup and add to the muddled blackberries and mint leaves. Add ice and shake. Double strain into a Collins glass with fresh crushed ice. Top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a skewered mint leaf and blackberry.

Cruzan Caribbean Dream

1 1/2 part Cruzan Blueberry Lemonade Rum
1/2 part Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 part Cream
Cinnamon
Maraschino Cherries
Combine all ingredients over ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and double strain into a shot glass. Garnish with freshly grated Cinnamon and a speared Maraschino Cherry.

Celebrate the Summer Season with these Cocktail Recipes

Although we haven’t reached the official start of summer date, according to the temperature (and the fact that Memorial Day – the unofficial start of summer – just passed), it’s summertime, time to whip out your summer cocktail recipes. Don’t have any drink recipes to try? You’re in luck, because today we’re highlighting some delicious cocktails to celebrate the season of sun, sea, and fun from Cruzan Rum, Skinnygirl Cocktails, DeLeón Platinum Tequila, and Blackwell Jamaican Rum. Looking for a tropical rum drinks, tequila drinks with more bite, or a something crisp, we have cocktail for you.

Cruzan House Punch

2 parts Cruzan® Estate Light Rum
1 part Cruzan® 9
4 parts Pineapple Juice
2 parts Mango Juice
1 part Orange Juice
Combine all ingredients, mix well. Pour over ice in a tall glass. Garnish with a fruit wedge.

Summer Slush

1 part Skinnygirl® California White Wine
1 part Cruzan® Light Rum
2 parts frozen lemonade
1 part seltzer
Crushed ice
Blend with a little crushed ice and pour into a flute glass. Top with seltzer.

Platinum Pina

1 ½ oz. DeLeón Platinum Tequila
1 oz. fresh pineapple juice
½ oz. fresh lime juice
1 dash of jalapeño syrup
Shake and strain over the rocks in a rocks glass. Garnish with a slice of jalapeño. Agave and spice is a match made in heaven, especially when paired with sweet tropical pineapple in the Platinum Piña. The experience of this modern cocktail begins with the fresh pieces of pineapple and lime, imparting a rich mouthfeel that complements the smooth agave and subtle coconut notes of the DeLeón Platinum tequila and finishes with subtle heat from the jalapeño. The result is a nuanced tropical cocktail with a kick that allows DeLeón Platinum’s delicate complexity to shine.

DeLeón Unadulterated

Pour 1 ½ oz. of DeLeón Platinum over a large, clear cube of ice
Stir seven times to thoroughly chill
Serve with a squeeze of fresh lime to complement the bright citrus notes of the tequila.

2 oz. Blackwell Jamaican Rum
1 oz. Salted Lime Cordial
1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
1/4 oz. Absinthe
Pinch of mint
