Que Viva Brunch: Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch

If you haven’t been lucky enough to enjoy an authentic Mexcian breakfast, we have the next best thing – Rosa Mexicano’s new bottomless brunch menu. The famed restaurant’s new bottomless brunch begins Saturday, May 18th; and we don’t think the great weather we’re going to have tomorrow and the rest of the week is not a coincidence. We think Mother Nature is also excited about this amazing and flavorful brunch. We’ve enjoyed quite a few brunches and while several have been good, most focus on the drinks, rather than the food. The result is usually good cocktails and “okay” food. With Rosa Mexicano’s new bottomless brunch, the food is amazingly delicious and the cocktails are equally divine. We sat down to experience the flavorful feast and we can tell you, every bite and sip is sensational. Let’s begin with the bottomless options

Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch offers unlimited servings of six cocktails, red or white sangria, beer, and wine. As much as you can enjoy in an hour and a half. These are so delicious, it won’t be surprised by how fast some of these go down.

MORNING GLORY – A frozen Mexican twist on an Aperol spritz
LA TRADICIONAL MARGARITA – Frozen or rocks, Blanco tequila, lime, organic agave
FROZEN POMEGRANATE MARGARITA -Blanco tequila, triple sec, pomegranate, lime
FROZEN LIME – Lime, Blanco tequila, triple sec, organic agave, flor de sal rim
BLOODY MARY OR MARIA – Choice of vodka or tequila, tomato juice, horseradish, Cholula, pickled jalapeño, jicama, chicharrón
MANGO MIMOSA – Cava, mango and fresh squeezed orange juice

We started with the Morning Glory, a superb creation that combines an Aperol Spritz with a margarita. Even if you’re not a huge fan of Aperol, you’ll love this absolutely amazing frozen delight; not just for its Instagram-worthiness but it’s taste. Fair warning, this goes down very quickly. We also predict the massive Frozen Pomegranate Margarita and refreshing Frozen Lime cocktail will also dominate during brunch. For those who want to drink less, the Mango Mimosa is a terrific option.

The Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch specials start with Cornbread With Buttered Agave-Lime. It’s available to every table and it amazing. Spread the buttered agave-lime over the warm cornbread to fully appreciate the flavors. We cut our cornbread before slattering it with the butter so it would melt beyond the crust – we highly recommend doing this.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Up next was the Sopa de Frijoles, a hearty Black bean soup with poached eggs and roasted jalapeño with flour tortillas. This vegetarian dish can be made non-vegetarian with the addition of chorizo. It’s a mild soup that can be punched up a bit when you break into the roasted jalapeno pepper….so those who love to up from mild flavors.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

The Huarache Con Carne Asada is definitely not your typical steak and eggs. The gluten-free, Mexico City-style huarache is served with marinated skirt steak, fried egg, queso fresco, salsa Norteña, and guacamole. Your tastebuds won’t know what hit them.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Want an even more international touch to your brunch eats? The gluten-free Sopes Benedict Traditional features poached eggs served over corn masa cakes with Canadian bacon (yes Canadian bacon) and Hollandaise. We love the surprising addition of the sweetness the Canadian bacon adds to this dish, and you will too.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

We live for anything with pork belly, so of course, seeing the Torta de Desayuno on Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch menu brought us extreme joy. This succulent pork belly sandwich is served with a fried egg, Menonita cheese, avocado, and black beans. You can request it with a side of potatoes or fresh tropical fruit.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Last but certainly not least of our journey of Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch was the Tacos de Huevos. Also gluten-free, this dish features scrambled eggs a la plancha, rajas, bacon and queso Chihuahua. It is finished with chile de árbol salsa, onion and cilantro. We could survive on this all week and be very happy.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Of course, that’s not all that’s available on the Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch menu. Other dishes include the gluten-free Huevos Josefina (named for its Founder) and Huevos Rosa (not pictured), as well as the vegetarian Churros French Toast.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Enjoy Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am – 3pm for $20.00 per person with the purchase of an entree at all Rosa Mexicano locations, except for Boston. Happy brunching!

Patron 2019 Margarita of the Year Contender

Will The Golden Hour Margarita Win 2019 Margarita Of The Year?

Patrón Tequila hosted a happy hour being held at The Archer Bar in Jersey City to kick off the Margarita of the Year competition. We had the pleasure of tasting one of the competing cocktails before we voted for our favorite. Of course, it was easy to select Bartender Natalie Jacob’s Golden Hour Margarita as our favorite. The decadent cocktail mesmerized our tastebuds with its inspiring mix of ingredients.

The Golden Hour Margarita is one of eight contenders vying for the title of The Margarita of the Year. Natalie and the seven other masters of margaritas hope to entice judges with their mixology skills to win the coveted title. We loved the Golden Hour Margarita for several reasons; we love the use of turmeric (it doesn’t magically make it a “healthy cocktail”, but in our heads it does); we love the combination of the earthiness, sweetness, and slight heat that the cocktail’s ingredients brought.

Patron 2019 Margarita of the Year Contender

We also love how dangerously easy it all went down (thankfully the wonderful cocktail didn’t call for any “hair of the dog the next day, despite us enjoying five (keep the judging to the cocktails). Check out the full recipe below. Trust us, you will want to recreate it at home. If you’re not skilled behind the bar, Cocktail Courier will happily send you all you need to recreate this delicious cocktail.

Golden Hour Margarita

Bartender: Natalie Jacob/New York City

Patron 2019 Margarita of the Year Contender

1.5 oz Patrón Reposado
.5 oz Patrón Citrónge Orange
1 oz. Fresh pineapple juice
.5 oz Fresh lime juice
.25 oz Turmeric agave syrup*
+ Salt/turmeric/chili pepper rim
+ Pineapple wedge for garnish

*Turmeric agave syrup:
2 cups agave
1 cup water
2 tbsp. turmeric powder
Add agave, water, and turmeric to a saucepan. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently to incorporate the turmeric. Let cool and strain into a sealable bottle.

This drink can be shaken and served on the rocks or frozen. Rim a rocks glass with a mixture of equal parts salt, turmeric, and chili pepper. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker or blender to combine. Pour into a rocks glass (filled with ice if you used a shaker). Garnish with a pineapple wedge.

We must also give major points to The Archer Bar for their amazing and inventive bar fare. Our Golden Hour Margaritas were made even more enjoyable with the addition of the Buffalo Maple Duck Wings & Waffle and the Bison “Jucy Lucy” Sliders.

The Archer Bar Fare - Buffalo maple Duck Wings & Waffle The Archer Bar Fare - Bison Sliders

If you love heat and spice, the Duck Wings will answer your prayers in satisfactory spades. Burger fans will love the double dose of dill in the Bison Sliders from the Dill Havarti cheese and Horseradish dill spread. In all honesty, we were expecting the typical bar food when we arrived and praise the culinary gods for surprising us with such decadence.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on Natalie Jacob’s margarita and of course, we can’t wait to hear which margarita will be crowned 2019 Margarita of the Year on April 25th.

Indulgent Valentine’s Day Cocktails Regardless Of Relationship Status

If you picked 10 random people from your local coffee shop and asked them how they felt about Valentine’s Day, you’d probably get 10 different answers. Some people view the love-themed holiday as a capitalistic cash cow, some spend months looking forward to a special day with their loved one. While others resent those doe-eyed couples for reminding them of their singledom.

No matter your connection, Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate a loving relationship with anyone in your life. With half of the American population identifying as single and a quarter of them planning on doing something for Valentine’s Day, this holiday is no longer reserved for those with a romantic partner.

Photo from www.813area.com

For single women especially, the concept of “Galentine’s Day” has given this time of year an entirely new meaning. Coined by Leslie Knope on the sitcom Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day is held on February 13 and focuses on celebrating friendships between women. People around the world have latched on to this alternate version of the heart-filled holiday. It gives anyone with any type of relationship status the chance to get in on the worldwide celebration of love.

Champagne Glasses and Bottles

Whether you’re planning on inviting your closest gal pals over for a night of drinking and debauchery or planning a romantic dinner for two, these Valentine’s Day cocktails are sure to make even the most cynical feel the love.

  • Figgy Sparkler
Along with chocolate, flowers, and giant teddy bears, champagne is a key ingredient for a classic Valentine’s Day celebration. Luckily, it is also a key ingredient in the figgy sparkler. This unique drink pairs vodka and Prosecco with figs and cranberries for a distinctly fruity palette. If you want to amp up the fig’s flavor even further, infuse your vodka with the dark fruit.
  • Love Potion #9
This dessert-like drink is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. The recipe even calls for vanilla ice cream, the most popular flavor in a survey of International Ice Cream Association member companies. Combine the well-loved ice cream with chocolate liqueur with an option of clear, vanilla, or strawberry vodka to get this boozy smoothie. Top it off with a strawberry, and you’ll have Valentine’s Day in a glass.
  • Kir and Kir Royale
A wine cocktail for all time, the Kir is a simple addition to any celebration of love, romantic or platonic. The star of the drink is blackcurrant, a lesser-known aphrodisiac for those who want to romance their partner. All you need to do is pour creme de cassis in a glass and top with white wine. If you’re among the 32% of people who are worried about the look of their teeth, choose a white wine with low sugar content and maintain the integrity of your pearly whites.
  • Besame
Spanish for “kiss me,” this drink will have anyone dreaming of a sunny summer day spent swimming, the fourth most popular sports activity in the country. As you think of warmer days in blue waters, you’ll taste Agavero, the centerpiece of the Besame. This tequila-based liqueur is flavored with the essence of the Damiana flower. Mix it with passion fruit juice and Chambord, and then pour the cocktail over muddled raspberries and lime to concoct this refreshingly fruity drink.

Valentine’s Day isn’t about how much money you spend on your special someone, but the experiences you share together. Whether you join the masses at the movie theatre, go on one of the 27% of trips that are taken solely to attend an organized sporting event, or serve up these uniquely themed cocktails, you’re sure to make memories that will last a lifetime. Or at least until next Valentine’s Day.
