L’Occitane en Provence has added some much-needed beauty to the Upper East Side with the opening of its brand new heritage shop on October 25th located at 180 East 86th Street. “Our new store honors the history of the brand, the entire story,” explains founder Olivier Baussan (pictured below). “This new heritage store reflects our roots in Provence, showcasing the authentic traditions and ingredients which have always guided L’Occitane.”
A first-of-its-kind boutique, the new heritage store tells the story of L’Occitane through dramatic design elements and visuals. As the brand celebrates its 35th anniversary, the new boutique is chronicling L’Occitane’s evolution from the first harvest in 1976 to the present through reclaimed, vintage furniture, authentic Provencal décor, and signature services.
Inside the store, visitors will see ingredients come to life. Lavender plants and Verbena are placed throughout the shop which also boasts bespoke signature services, including Skincare and Hair Care Consultation areas, a Hand Massage Station, and more. In keeping with L’Occitane’s heritage, the store houses a Citroën 2CV car just like the one Olivier first used when he got his start selling soaps and essential oils in the markets of Provence.
The Holiday 2011 L’Occitane collection is inspired by Confiserie Florian, a classic fragrance distillery in the south of France, where fresh fruits and flowers are transformed into decadent delights. And delightful is exactly what these season’s L’Occitane holiday treats are:
