New Year’s Cocktails to Celebrate 2016

We, along with everyone else, cannot wait to raise a glass to the new year and today we’re sharing a short list of New Year’s cocktails to celebrate 2016 (we will be sharing a few more cocktails as the time gets nearer). We’re looking forward to welcoming the new and wonderful opportunities, adventures, and experiences 2016 has to offer. We’re starting the new opportunity to start over by breaking the rules a bit. Instead of toasting with a straight glass of traditional champagne, we’ll be ringing in 2016 with a non-traditional cocktail from Sauza Tequila, Midori Melon Liqueur, Brotherhood Riesling, and Blanc de Blancs.

Who says you’re only allowed to toast to the new year with a flute of champagne? As humans, we love to show our individuality and let’s face it, some traditions are now outdated and can be changed. So if you’re ready to ring in the new year with a delicious drink, here are some of our favorite New Year’s cocktails to celebrate 2016:

Armand de Brignac Champagne Giveaway

Two months ago I was personally introduced to a very exclusive line of Champagne (I was first made aware of this luxe champagne by this its appearance in Jay-Z’s music video and then his support of it after),

but I got up close and very personal at a tasting event they held – refresh your memory HERE. I am of course talking about Armand de Brignac or Ace of Spades Champagne.

Armand de Brignac is the luxury Champagne from the award-winning Champagne Cattier Chateau of Chigny-les-Roses, France. Bearing recognizable Ace of Spades insignias on its bottle, Armand de Brignac boasts three prestige cuvées – Brut Gold, Rosé and Blanc de Blancs (shown above) – each reflecting the discerning tastes of those individuals who desire the finer things in life.

I will generously gift one My Life on and off the Guest List reader to a gorgeous bottle of Armand de Brignac Brut Gold, which retails for $300 (the Rose and Blanc de Blancs retails for $500), was recently ranked the number one Champagne in the world in a blind-tasting of over 1,000 brands, beating the likes of Dom Perignon, Cristal, Pol Roger, etc. Armand de Brignac exemplifies unmatched winemaking expertise and a true passion for the art of Champagne.

Since 1763, the Cattier family has owned and cultivated vineyards in the prestigious Montagne de Reims terroir of the French Champagne region. Family patriarch Jean-Jacques Cattier and his son, Alexandre Cattier, along with only eight others, produce the Champagne from grape to glass through traditional hand labor-intensive methods. Aged in a gated section of the cellars considered among the deepest in Champagne, each cuvée includes a unique liqueur de dosage aged nine months in oak casks, ensuring that every bottle of Armand de Brignac is of superior and unmatched quality.

Inspired by famed French fashion designer André Courrèges, each metallic bottle is crafted entirely by hand, featuring two Ace of Spades insignias and four hand-applied pewter labels. The striking bottle is housed in a black wooden case embossed with the Champagne’s royal crest. Each box is lined in velvet and fitted with an engraved nameplate, reflecting the splendor and grand style of the French fashion world and perfectly complementing the Armand de Brignac Champagne within.

Ace of Spades Champagne – “A Taste of Luxury”

I had the pleasure of attending the tasting of new luxury champagne, Armand de Brignac (also known as “Ace of Spades”). What is Armand de Brignac and where did it come from you may ask? According to their press material, “Armand de Brignac (also known as “Ace of Spades”) is a huge favorite among celebrities, particularly Jay-Z, P.Diddy, Beyonce, Alex Rodriguez, and so on. Often seen-on-the-scene at celebrity events, videos, and in songs, Armand de Brignac, or “The Aces”, has quickly become the must-have Champagne of choice for A-listers across the globe. We were recently rated the #1 Champagne in the world in a blind taste test of 1,000 brands, beating out our main competitors – Cristal and Dom Perignon.”

Armand de Brignac held the tasting of their Gold Brut, Rose, and Blanc de Blancs Cuvees at their downtown offices; the event was hosted by celebrated Latin chef,  Alex Garcia of Calle Ocho Restaurant whose delicious food we devoured. I walked into the darkly lit loft-style office space to bottles of the champagne everywhere, after checking in, I was immediately given a glass of the Gold Brut (I arrived too late to enjoy the Blanc de Blancs). I don’t usually like bruts but this one I very much enjoyed and I surely was not the only one.

I first heard of Armand de Brignac when it was featured in a scene of rapper Jay-Z’s video for his song “Show Me What You Got” where it was delivered to him in a silver briefcase. Everyone wanted to know was that gold bottle real. Wherre did it come from. The UK’s telegraph quoted “Jacques Cattier, president of Cattier Champagne, Armand de Brignac’s producer with just 20 staff based in the village of Chigny Les Roses in Champagne-Ardennes, said he was astonished by the rise of the brand, which was only launched in 2006. The name – taken from the hero of a 1950s romantic novel – was suggested by his mother. “We could not imagine the success we have had,” he told The Independent, saying that they could sell out their 60,000-bottle production run several times over.” See my interview with Esther-Mireya Tejeda on Armand Be Brignac (she and I both share a love of Rose Champagne)

and speaking of Rose, see the video below for more information on Armand de Brignac Rose and the delicious dessert it was paired with (the last hors d’oeuvres photo above) FYI – I am in love with the pink metallic bottle

As I stated I love Rose and this one was a winner with me. I gladly had my glass refilled again ( um…an again). Unfortunately I cannot afford to purchase this champagne and drink it as freely as I want thanks to little pesky things called bills but hopefully our paths will cross again at other events (yes there might be a bit of champagne stalking in my future)
