The Limited Holiday 2010 Collection Preview

According to The Limited, the 2010 Holiday season will be a sweet one. With a mixture of live models and mannequins, The Limited an array of easy business casual looks that can be mixed and matched and take any woman from day to night with little effort.

This collection featured sequins, chunky sweaters, textured jackets and ultra feminine top, many paired with knee-length skirts and sleek pants with smooth lines or over the dresses (as shown above). My favorite pieces were from the collection slated to be delivered to stores just in time for the holiday season celebrations.

I especially love the details from this collection, the ruffled shoulder on the little black dresses, the jeweled belt and the lace detail

And speaking of sweet, The Limited brought in Dylan’s Candy Bar to emphasize their theme that “Life is Sweet”. Guests, like me, indulged in favorites like gummi bears, gumballs, sour tape, jelly beans, etc

Now you may remember that The Limited opened up a pop-up shop last year for what should have been for 3-4 days but ended up being open for several months because the response was so great. New Yorkers were obviously so hungry for The Limited, especially with the return of the Forenza Sweater. I got a chance to speak with Linda Heasley, President and Chief Executive of The Limited regarding when we’re getting a Limited store in New York and she though she was vague, I think we will be getting one soon – hooray!!!

Jodi Arnold for The Limited & The Limited Fall 2010 Collection Preview

Jodi Arnold has done it again; she has won my heart with amazing and personality-filled looks for her newest collaboration with The Limited. The newest Jodi Arnold for The Limited Collection will be available in stores and online at on August 15th. The current Jodi Arnold for The Limited Spring 2010 collection is available online now, take a look at the look book.

“The Fall 2010 collection is a celebration of women discovering their own freedom of expression, reflected in the signature embellishments, unique prints and Jodi’s trademark attention to detail. For this second collaboration with The Limited, Jodi uses a playful mix of feminine and masculine-influenced design as a metaphor for the 1920’s and 30’s, a time when American women embraced greater personal independence. Influenced by social reformers, glamorous stage performers and middle-class women entering professions previously closed to women, the Jodi Arnold for The Limited Fall Collection honors the tremendous strides made by the dynamic women of the era.”

I had a chance to interview Jodi Arnold again about this collection and her inspiration for the fall season and just as before, she was very gracious enough to do the interview.

Jodi Arnold for The Limited’s collection is an easy mix with The Limited’s Fall 2010 Collection; Jodi Arnold’s unique embellishments added the perfect kick to the Tweeds, tailored lines and the more edgy touches featured in The Limited’s Collection. For example, you can substitute Jodi Arnold’s blush and Black chiffon Chemise (pictured above) with the Limited’s (showed below) or vice versa

Some of my other favorites looks from The Limited’s Fall Collection are featured, the fall jewel-toned blouse below was one of the first things to catch my eye  as well as the bold top below (as you can see, I do continuously love color)

I got a chance to speak with Elliot Staples, the VP of Design about the classic looks The Limited has to offer for fall.

The Limited will launch a Wedding & Event Collection on June 3, 2010, just in time for wedding season. The Limited is offering two wedding dress styles that are effortless, yet emanate romance and elegance. The two event/bridesmaid dresses are seasonless and will be staples in any woman’s wardrobe. This collection will be available for purchase online and the two event/bridesmaid dresses can also be found in The Limited Stores nationwide

In an oversaturated market, it is refreshing to find exquisite dresses such as these at a conservative price. Made from pure silk and cotton, these silhouettes will flatter any bride. Each wedding dress is available for $298.

The Romantic Wedding Dress is flowy and feminine without being fussy. It can easily translate to fit various wedding types; from a casual beach wedding or in a lavish ceremony. This eye-catching classic off-white dress will satisfy even the most discerning bride. Its silk chiffon cascading vertical ruffles allow for movement and airy flow.

The Elegant Wedding Dress stays true to its name with fresh finishes. With a classic silhouette and trendy touches, this ivory colored dress is perfect for any modern bride-to-be. A hidden pocket and smart belt is an instant update to this distinguished style. Though modern, the silky cotton material is the perfect combination; you will feel like you are floating on clouds while walking down the aisle.

A wedding would not be complete without a wedding party. The Limited is offering two select styles of event dresses ideal for any bridesmaid. These dresses can be found online as well as in The Limited stores nationwide. The Ruffle Front Halter Dress is fun and flirty. Available in 3 color ways: Bright Poppy, Gothic & Green Lagoon (shown). Any bridesmaid will be thrilled to wear this special dress that is not only seasonless but can truly be worn again and again. The soft materials and flattering movement is an added touch to this classic style.

The Draped Waist Tank Dress will flatter any figure and versatile for any type of bride’s taste. The length is not too long, not to short, and the sleeveless style of the top is not so bare. A deep “V” in the back polishes off the dress. With its soft color palette, yummy material and wear-again style, your bridesmaid will thank you. This dress is available in three colors: Smog Grey, Dark Periwinkle and Turquoise.

Jodi Arnold for The Limited Spring Collection 2010 Preview

I have attended quite a few events at the Limited Pop-Up store and here I am blessed to attend another. This time we were invited to preview the debut Spring 2010 collection from designer Jodi Arnold for The Limited.

It was love at first site for this bold, chic and delicate statement looks to The Limited. The collection is brimming with embellishemnts – beading, prints, knots, decorative fabric covered buttons, etc. The line called Craft is devrived from the term handcraft, the art of making creative and decorative things by hand. And the collection definitely has that – each of the elements of the garments seem to have the air of being handcrafted and made with love. I got a chance to interview Jodi Arnold and the beauty of her work.

There were a few pieces that stood out to me, that’s to say, these are the pieces I will surely be purchasing when the collection is available on March 18th, 2010

These, along with that very chic teal One-Shoulder Dress in the first photo will be happily placed in my closet. Although I guess I will have to purchase them online as the Limited pop-up store will say goodbye on December 24th.

The Limited Pop-Up Shop Closing

The end has finally arrived. It is with sadness that I announce that after being reintroduced to the iconic Forenza Sweater and discovering the Infinity Scarf (my winter best friend) and overall enjoying having The Limited in New York, they are closing. The funny thing is the pop up shop was only supposed to be open from October 14th – October 17th but we New Yorkers have been so incredibly hungry for The Limited, they were obliged to stay open until now. So finally after sticking around for 2 months, they’re finally saying goodbye to New York (tears).

The best part, they are saying goodbye on a very sweet note, with 40% off your purchase until their last day – Christmas Eve. So if you love The Limited, get down to 132 Spring Street and stock up.

Girl on Top Book Event at The Limited Pop-up Shop

Back again to the Limited Pop-Up Shop I go the very next night for launch event of Nicole Williams’s Girl on Top. An honest, straight-forward guide to using the rules of dating for success in your career.

From my observation, Nicole Williams is a feisty petite brunette, a woman older men would probably refer to as a firecracker. She is an honest, ballsy, no-nonsense individual with a mouth a little bit like a sailor (not to mention a striking resemblance to Demi Moore and Julia Louis Dreyfus) but that is what makes her fabulous and as her bio says – the original Girl on Top!

The original Girl on Top, is your tell it-like-it-is big sister who happens to be an expert in all things career. As a best selling author and founder of WORKS by Nicole Williams, she has re-defined the world of work—making it glamorous, relevant, and get this—fun!—to modern women who refuse to settle for a less-than-thrilling career.

As was the night before, I arrived to a packed event – I had a slight incident outside with a deranged guest (excuse me doctor, can we get some Prozac – STAT!!) but the cow doesn’t deserve anymore than this mention. Anyhoo, as I said a packed event, loads of people inside, shopping, reading select excepts from the book, just your typical fabulous night out

After shopping and munching way too many black and white cookies, we finally got the night’s festivities on the way. Introduced by The Limited CEO (and Girl on Top Tour partner), Linda Heasley

Nicole hopped onto the store elevated platform and had us hanging on her every funny, honest and (sometimes naughty) word (in fab shoes of course). We laughed with her, agreed with her, never moving an inch. If her speech is any indication, her book is a must, must read

Don’t worry, it’s not just us lucky New Yorkers who get to hear her truthful words, check out the October-November tour dates for Nicole and Girl on Top (how much do you love this tour date calendar) coming to a Limited near you
