There’s a quote by American Fashion Designer, Elizabeth Hawes that goes, “The French legend is a very simple one. All really beautiful clothes are designed in the houses of the French couturiers and all women want these clothes.” That is what was brought to our minds as we relished in the stunning Pamella Roland Spring 2018 Collection during NYFW. Our first runway show of the season definitely started with a very breathtaking bang as we watched the 33-look collection beautifully glide down the runway.
No surprise what this quote popped into our minds as the effervescent Pamella Roland Spring 2018 Collection is inspired by the French Riviera. An ode to the glamorous seaside town of Monte Carlo, the Pamella Roland Spring 2018 Collection featured hand draped tulle ball gowns and clean streamlined silhouettes that we’re sure Princess Grace Kelly would covet. Looks were decorated in intricate metallic fringe, crystal, and sequin firework motifs, 3-D degrade embroidered scalloping, fabric manipulated flowers, and feather plumes.
Much of the magic and glamour you find in Monte Carlo was celebrated in the ombre Mikado, pleated tulle, and embroidered lace that made up the sea of luxurious fabrics you see above. The collection’s color palette boasted royal tones of cobalt, navy, and aqua (very much like the tones of the Côte d’Azur coastline) that seamlessly briefly sparked to hues of fuchsia, then paled down to elegant blush and lilac.
The collection also featured high low gowns, capes, lots of layered tulle, and bow details that rounded out a collection fit for a princess or glamorous Hollywood starlet. Some of our favorite looks from Pamella Roland (we’ve had a difficult time narrowing it down to three) include the sensuous blush and fuschia ombre Mikado draped cocktail dress, the lilac, and white ostrich feather cocktail dress with pleated tulle waistband, and the lilac high low gown with hand draped tulle.
