Holiday Gift Ideas – Game Night!

In the world of video games, we’ve lost game night. Do you remember the days when either you and your family or a few fun friends to get together to have a “battle of the sexes” (it always been to be men vs. women) or just an all out battle royale. Time flew by as arms flailed about, cheating accusations were hurled backed and forth, laughter, screaming with delight at winning, made fun of one another, etc. You can get those days back with several new board games that are or will be available soon. Some of my favorites include:

Saturday Night Live the Game – unless you’ve been living in a cave deep in the Earth’s core since the 60’s, then you are well aware of the awesomeness of Saturday Night Live. Test your knowledge of the famed television sketch show, which has been around since the 1970’s, with this trivia game. The Game features several SNL-inspired activities such as acting, improvising, guessing, and of course, laughter. Players customize each game by choosing cards from the eras they know best (1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s). If you or anyone DVR’s Saturday Night Live or can quote whole sketches from the show, then this is the game for you. This game can be yours or bought as a gift for only $33.00

Consensus® Movie Edition (the Original Edition is pretty hilarious too)- let me first note, this game is NOT a trivia game, it’s better to call it an opinion game but it is nonetheless utterly hilarious and fun. It features questions from the top 150 movies of all time and makes a perfect game for anyone who loves movies. As I said it’s not a trivia game, its a game based on opinion, here’s some clarification: ten random movie cards are placed on the board and then a movie question is asked and you make a choice, there is no wrong answer…just fun and you have to love a game whose creator, Marshall Chrein, spent hours watching 200 movies to bring you this game. Consensus can be yours for $24.95.

Truth Be Told from Buffalo Games
is the new laugh-out-loud, pretend to know your friends party game. Each round, a player is the Host; the host reads a question card aloud and writes a truthful answer. The other players writes an answer they think the Host wrote. The Host collects and reads all answers aloud, and players try to guess the True Answer to score points.The result is a lot of laughing out loud and a great way to really know your friends. Truth Be Told retails for $27.99

isABelt® – ORIGINAL Virtually Invisible Fashion Fix-it Belt

About a year or so ago (maybe longer), I was introduced to a clear plastic belt that looked like a wide bra strap, in fact, I thought it was a set of detachable bra straps, but it turned out to be what become a favorite of mine – an isABelt®. What exactly is a isABelt®? “It is the Original invisible belt, the MUST HAVE Fashion “fix-it” accessory. A thin, strong and flexible clear plastic belt, that virtually disappears when worn, providing you with the assurance that all is secure without even knowing it’s there. isABelt prevents back gap, slippage and of course, belt bulk and belt bulge. The isABelt solves all of these fashion issues and many more must-have fashion fix-it’s!” Chances are, you’ve either personally experienced the following (see photograph) or have seen it on a random woman – the unsightly bulge.

isABelt® is the answer for any wearer of low rise jeans or any jeans for that matter – its for any woman who wants a smooth look. Created by Leslie Wilkins–Gaudio while shopping for jeans, like me, she doesn’t consider herself a belt wearer – I mean, sometimes they are annoying or just plain do NOT work with an outfit but it most often than not a needed assurance from pant slippage, gaping, etc. While at Product-N-Press, I had the opportunity to meet with Leslie Wilkins–Gaudio and isABelt® co-owners, Elise Wilkins and Lori Wilkins-Vaughan who gave me more information about this great product.

As you can tell, the isABelt is completely adjustable, size friendly (one size fits up to 46″) and comes in two varieties – Regular which retails for $16.95 and Wide which retails for $19.95 (the wide allows Men to enjoy a belt bulge-free and streamlined look as well) and both varieties are available in Clear and Black

isABelt® also has a belt to help find a cure for Breast Cancer, The isABelt® BCA is a “special edition clear belt adorned with the symbolic pink ribbons. It retails for $18.95 and you can wear it discreetly on your pants or wear it loud and clear for the world to see.” A percentage of proceeds from this special edition isABelt®BCA will be donated to Breast Cancer Research (keep an eye out for more information during Breast Cancer Month)

Rio de Keratin Cocolada At-Home Keratin Hair Treatment

I have been blessed (or cursed – it depends on the weather) with very thick and curly hair. Don’t get me wrong, I love my hair, I get compliments on it all the time but every single time I get my hair done, it either rains or the humidity begins to break records. Now when the whole Keratin hair Treatment phenomenon stated, I, and many women like me, were ecstatic. Finally a saving grace! Of course that saving grace in no way saves our bank accounts with salon visits costs up to $400 per treatment. And then came RDK (Rio de Keratin) Cocolada Keratin Treatment, an affordable, at-home/do it yourself Keratin Hair Treatment.

“The experts behind the Lasio keratin treatment cultivated Rio de Keratin with one goal in mind: making affordable keratin treatments accessible to women the world over. Rio de Keratin’s line of keratin-infused treatments and aftercare products is our answer to women everywhere who just can’t seem to keep their hair in line. We’ve used our professional expertise to create products that are safe enough to be used at home, but effective enough to replace costly trips to the salon.”

So not only do you save money, you save time as well – this I found out first hand as I tried out the Rio de Keratin starter kit. It was so simple to do. All I did was shampoo and condition my hair, added the RDK Cocolada Treatment and blow dried my hair. The next day (you have to wait 24 hrs) I used the provided RDK Cocolada Shampoo and Conditioner and blow-dried and flat ironed my hair, of course all this was done one the first day of the week-long heatwave. This is where the cursed part comes in – heat and humidity are my cryptonite but surprisingly, my hair is still very much under control (normally, I would look like a giant q-tip or troll doll) but so far, so good. It’s not as straight as when I first did it but considering the ridiculousness of the humidity, a quick blow-dry tames the moisture. Your hair will go from frizzy to smooth and under control

I got a chance to find out more on the RDK Cocolada Keratin Treatment at the Product-N-Press event, see below for more details on this great product.

Unfortunately, you guys have to wait a little while to try this product out as it won’t be available until August 1st. On that day, you’ll be able to purchase the starter kit (1st photo above) on the RDK Hair website which includes the following:

Starter kit contains the following:

* 4oz Cocolada Keratin Shampoo
* 4oz Cocolada Keratin Conditioner
* 4oz Cocolada Keratin Treatment
* 1x Comb
* 1x set of Gloves
* Instruction Sheet

My Valentine’s Day Wishlist

For a terminally single girl like me, Valentine’s Day is filled with “wishing and hoping and praying” and cursing and jealousy. It’s bad enough to see couples throughout the regular holiday but Valentine’s Day is like love on steroids. Wherever you go, it’s red hearts and couples kissing and snuggling everywhere. To commemorate this day, I usually wear black and dream of all the things I could have possibly received from my imaginary boyfriend/husband. I even search online for possible gifts (not that the countless emails and store windows can be missed). Every year I come up with a few “I want” gifts – so for all you “in love” couples out there (OK, I’m really talking to the guys) here are a few things this single girl would wish to get from a boy

Borghese Classic Romance

The perfume, named Il Bacio is Italian for The Kiss, how much more romantic can you get and you get all these extra goodies with it. I love that the lipstick matches the lipgloss and train case – kinda like matching your lipstick to your car. She will think you spent way more than you actually did because this entire set is only $39.99

Top Notes: A glorious floral with delicate Freesia, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Lily-of-the Valley and Rose.
Middle Notes: Multi-faceted fruity florals of Melon, Peach, Plum and Passion Fruit.
Bottom Notes: Sensually warm as the Tuscan sun Musk, Amber, Sandalwood and Cedarwood.

Godiva Strawberry Rose Candle

Anyone can just give chocolates but imagine toping off those delicious Godiva chocolates with an equally yummy smelling candle. It’s amazing how it smells exactly like Godiva chocolates. I was introduced to this line at the NYIGF and I immediately fell in love with these candles (I think I stayed there for 10 minutes just smelling candle after candle). The best part, your home will continuously smell like chocolate for 50 hours and it’s a steal for $23.00 – $25.00 (depending on where you buy it). Godiva Candles can be purchased at several locations such as Neiman Marcus, Bath & Body Works, but if you go to Candle Delirium you can get 20% off the Strawberry Rose candle – Use code: VALENTINE4U

Joya Reserve Candle & Body Set

If for some reason, your love is anti-chocolate but you still want to gift her with a candle, then try Joya’s Reserve Candle, Body/Bath Wash and Body Creme. I revisted Joya at the NYIGF and got a chance to experience Caprice de la Mode. Choose from any of the following scents –

Royal Hunt Bouquet: refreshing orange blossom, petitgrain sur fleurs, and siam citron {original bouquet ingredients: esprit de rose triple, neroli, acacia, fleur d’orange, musk, orris, tonquin, otto of citron}

The Alhambra Perfume: damask rose, geranium and cassis brightened by wild mint {original bouquet inredients: extract of tubereuse, geranium, acacia, fleur d’orange, civet}

Caprice de la Mode (SHOWN ABOVE): an elegant, balanced blend of juniper twig, lavender, tonka bean and cardamon. {original bouquet ingredients: extrait de jasmine, tubereuse, cassie, fleur d’orange, civet, otto of almonds, nutmegs}

St. Valentine Perfume

Top notes: Bergamot, Nutmeg, Parma Violet
Middle notes: Bulgarian Rose Absolute, Centifolia Rose Absolute, Raspberry, Tea Rose
Base notes: Amber, Bourbon Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, French Vanilla, Vanilla Absolute

I haven’t tried this one yet but any fragrance that has a base of Chocolate, Vanilla and Bourbon sounds like a great thing to have. Another great thing is you have a choice of how you want to experience this fragrance, you have your pick of a purse spray, roller ball, massage oil, liquid powder, body wash, bubble bath and the list goes on. This lovely fragrance just became available on Feb. 1st, perfect timing I say.

Freya Inimates

I received this Freya Madison Camisole Set at Product-n-Press Live for the Christmas holiday but I think it’s perfect for Valentine’s day. I’ve mentioned a million times how much I love pink and this delicate peachy pink has such a romantic look and feel to it. I must say that I feel very much like a girl in this set – simply lovely

So there you have it, my Valentine’s Day wishlist, maybe next year I will be so lucky to receive the rest of the above listed products (a nice hint to my future love – until then, I can only dream). What’s your Valentine’s Day wishlist?

Product-n-Press LIVE™returned for its 3rd season to showcase more than thirty top brands from global powerhouses to unique and independent boutique finds including Accessories, Beauty, Home, Food & Beverage, Gadgets, Babies, Pets, etc,

Participating brands included Alberto Luzzi Designs, Alpha Dog, American Humane Film & TV Unit – No Animals Were Harmed, Black & White Cookie Company, Bissell, Bustelo, Buzzy, Broadway Cares, Daffy’s, Divine Chocolate, DK Publishing, Ford, Gotham Wines, HoMedics, Juvederm, Kolache Mama, Maidenform, Maison Le Grand, Moroccan Oil, MPHC Fitness, Muze, National Basketball Association (NBA), Nivea, Pacimals, Passion Growers, Pergamino, Prudence Designs, Puppy Hugger, Rosetta Stone, Scentsy, Trixie + Peanut, Vioguard, Violight and VoiceQuilt.

The good news, I did get to attend and speak with a few brands, the bad news is I couldn’t stay long and only got to speak with three or so brands but at least they were my first choices. Why didn’t I get to speak with you more, you may ask? Time
is the answer and the issue. The event was held at the very massive and off the beaten track La.Venue; I do love La.Venue and I have attended quite a few events there but it’s not easy to get too and you need travel time. On any other day, this would have meant nothing to me but this event just happened to be on a day where my checklist was quite a long one.

Anyway, I got a chance to enjoy learning more about Moroccanoil (a salon-only product I’ve been dying to try)

the comfy bras and tanks from Maidenform

and Nivea (this brought back memories of me growing up sneaking some of my Mom’s Nivea Milk and Nivea Creme)

As attending press, we were lucky to get a full-size bottle of the Moroccanoil

which I happily used that same day when I got home. I’ve heard wonderful things about this hair treatment and as someone who doesn’t use any styling products in her hair, I can tell you I’m very picky and am very happy with it. I use leave in conditioners as my hair moisturizer as anything else would weigh my hair down and there’s nothing worse than limp hair. I love the shine it adds while keeping my hair light and non-greasy. I look forward to trying the shampoo and conditioner. Click HERE to find a salon near you that uses Moroccanoil products. I did miss out on getting Senior Stylist and Hair Care Expert Mary Zingone, from the exclusive AnthonyLeonard Salon who was offering Moroccanoil hair touch-ups and winter hair care tips but I did speak to her briefly about my hair. If you’re feeling lucky, enter their US Sweepstakes for a chance to win $375 worth of products

At Maidenform, I was introduced to Maidenform’s BOD SQUAD for a one-on-one fitting and discussions on “Why the Bra is Essential to Holiday Dressing”. As a proud member of the D Club, this was not a hard sell. I was introduced to two new wonderful products from Maidenform. First was the Custom Lift Satin Demi Bra, which is one of the best t-shirt bras I have ever had

Each cup size comes with custom lifting beneficial to your cup size, the result is a natural shape with soft satin fabric that gives you a smooth finish and eliminates any unsightly bulges.

Second was the Flexees Fat-Free Dressing Tank Top

While I needed a bra for the top part (again, proud member of the D Club), the microfiber liner smoothed out my midsection a little; I was given a large at the event so it didn’t hold me in as I thought it should (a medium would have been perfect) but I was still happy with it, especially that it was longer in length than most and I could use it to layer seamlessly. Why not visit Maidenform and find your perfect bra HERE

Last but not least was Nivea, as I mentioned before, my mom used Nivea Milk and Nivea Creme throughtout my childhood and I remember indulging in those products almost daily, so I grew up loving Nivea and I was very happy to see they had a presence at Product-n-Press. I was even happier when I was gifted with a full bottle of the Touch of Sparkle Cream Oil Body Wash

“Enriched with sparkling diamond powder and conditioners, this exquisite pearlescent cream oil creates a supreme lather that glides over skin and rinses smoothly, without leaving any shimmer particles on your skin”. As it gets colder, I always find that my skin gets dull and lifeless (sometime even after heavy moisturizing after I shower and throughout the day) but after I started using the Touch of Sparkle Cream Oil Body Wash, my after shower moisturising has been cut down to just once. My skin doesn’t feel dry and tight like with other washes and I find myself touching my skin more and it always looks healthy, moisturized and supple. If Touch of Sparkle is not your forte, you can try any of the following Cream Oil Body Washes- Touch of Radiance, Touch of Harmony, Touch of Beauty or any of the Moisturizing Body Washes – Touch of Bliss, Touch of Smoothness and Touch of Happiness.
