As the vibrant hues of Spring begin to paint the cityscape, New York City beckons with its plethora of entertainment options, notably its renowned Broadway shows and quintessential “dinner and a show” experiences. Amidst this cultural tapestry, The Lambs Club stands as a beacon of refinement and culinary excellence, offering a pre-theater dining experience that transcends mere sustenance to become an integral part of a memorable evening out.
Nestled within the historic confines of the Chatwal Hotel, The Lambs Club exudes an air of timeless sophistication, providing a respite from the hustle and bustle of Times Square with its classic New York fine dining ambiance and an impressive selection of wines. Pre-theater dining here is not just a perfunctory affair but a ritual designed to elevate the entire theater experience. Before being seated, The Lambs Club staff will ask about the start time of your show to ensure they deliver the level of attention and prompt service required to get you to your Broadway seats well in advance of the curtain rising.
The meticulously curated pre-theater menu, priced at $85.00 for two courses or $95.00 for three, tantalizes the palate with a symphony of flavors. Our culinary adventure commenced with the Fluke Tartare, a welcome gift from the Chef pictured above, which delighted our taste buds with its diverse array of flavors and textures, courtesy of the roe, basil, and pepper slices.
Now on to the delicious pre-theatre dining options. For this evening, we opted for the $95.00 three courses and continued delighting our palate with the freshness of Red Snapper Crudo adorned with pear, pomegranate, and citrus to the indulgence of Steak Tartare crowned with horseradish crème fraîche and caviar, each dish is a testament to culinary artistry.
For the main course, options abound, from the succulence of Seared Scallops accompanied by bacon, potato, and leek to the opulence of a 10 oz Wagyu New York Strip served with charred onion and choice of side. The Roasted Duck, with its symphony of flavors featuring sweet potato, sumac, and pot pie, promises a culinary journey like no other. The Pan Seared Salmon with a vibrant medley of tomatoes, peppers, and charred kale; their flavors intertwining harmoniously.
To conclude this gastronomic odyssey, desserts beckon with their irresistible allure. Whether it’s the decadent Chocolate Mousse with chocolate cremeux, hazelnut, and passion fruit caramel, the whimsical Sundae adorned with popcorn ice cream cookie chunks, candied peanuts, and salted caramel sauce, or the refreshing Gelato selection, each sweet finale leaves a lasting impression. For those not partaking in the Pre-theater dining options, we highly recommend the Baba Au Rum dessert (another delicious gift from the chef). This delightful treat boasts brown butter baba, raspberry sabayon, peach, and almond.
As for our drinks, The Lamb Club offers a delectable variety of libations. We loved that they also offer zero-proof options made with SeedLip non-alcoholic spirits. While it’s nice to attend a Broadway show in a festive mood, sometimes you may prefer an evening not imbibed. Whether you partake in a Vesper Martini, Spritz, Mescal Mule, Raspberry Hibiscus, Garden Gimlet, a glass of Red or White Wine, or one of their other delicious drink offerings, you won’t be disappointed.
In the heart of New York City, where every moment is infused with possibility, The Lambs Club invites theatergoers to embark on a culinary adventure that transcends mere dining, ensuring that every visit is not just a meal but an experience to be savored and remembered.
