Que Viva Brunch: Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch

If you haven’t been lucky enough to enjoy an authentic Mexcian breakfast, we have the next best thing – Rosa Mexicano’s new bottomless brunch menu. The famed restaurant’s new bottomless brunch begins Saturday, May 18th; and we don’t think the great weather we’re going to have tomorrow and the rest of the week is not a coincidence. We think Mother Nature is also excited about this amazing and flavorful brunch. We’ve enjoyed quite a few brunches and while several have been good, most focus on the drinks, rather than the food. The result is usually good cocktails and “okay” food. With Rosa Mexicano’s new bottomless brunch, the food is amazingly delicious and the cocktails are equally divine. We sat down to experience the flavorful feast and we can tell you, every bite and sip is sensational. Let’s begin with the bottomless options

Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch offers unlimited servings of six cocktails, red or white sangria, beer, and wine. As much as you can enjoy in an hour and a half. These are so delicious, it won’t be surprised by how fast some of these go down.

MORNING GLORY – A frozen Mexican twist on an Aperol spritz
LA TRADICIONAL MARGARITA – Frozen or rocks, Blanco tequila, lime, organic agave
FROZEN POMEGRANATE MARGARITA -Blanco tequila, triple sec, pomegranate, lime
FROZEN LIME – Lime, Blanco tequila, triple sec, organic agave, flor de sal rim
BLOODY MARY OR MARIA – Choice of vodka or tequila, tomato juice, horseradish, Cholula, pickled jalapeño, jicama, chicharrón
MANGO MIMOSA – Cava, mango and fresh squeezed orange juice

We started with the Morning Glory, a superb creation that combines an Aperol Spritz with a margarita. Even if you’re not a huge fan of Aperol, you’ll love this absolutely amazing frozen delight; not just for its Instagram-worthiness but it’s taste. Fair warning, this goes down very quickly. We also predict the massive Frozen Pomegranate Margarita and refreshing Frozen Lime cocktail will also dominate during brunch. For those who want to drink less, the Mango Mimosa is a terrific option.

The Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch specials start with Cornbread With Buttered Agave-Lime. It’s available to every table and it amazing. Spread the buttered agave-lime over the warm cornbread to fully appreciate the flavors. We cut our cornbread before slattering it with the butter so it would melt beyond the crust – we highly recommend doing this.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Up next was the Sopa de Frijoles, a hearty Black bean soup with poached eggs and roasted jalapeño with flour tortillas. This vegetarian dish can be made non-vegetarian with the addition of chorizo. It’s a mild soup that can be punched up a bit when you break into the roasted jalapeno pepper….so those who love to up from mild flavors.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

The Huarache Con Carne Asada is definitely not your typical steak and eggs. The gluten-free, Mexico City-style huarache is served with marinated skirt steak, fried egg, queso fresco, salsa Norteña, and guacamole. Your tastebuds won’t know what hit them.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Want an even more international touch to your brunch eats? The gluten-free Sopes Benedict Traditional features poached eggs served over corn masa cakes with Canadian bacon (yes Canadian bacon) and Hollandaise. We love the surprising addition of the sweetness the Canadian bacon adds to this dish, and you will too.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

We live for anything with pork belly, so of course, seeing the Torta de Desayuno on Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch menu brought us extreme joy. This succulent pork belly sandwich is served with a fried egg, Menonita cheese, avocado, and black beans. You can request it with a side of potatoes or fresh tropical fruit.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Last but certainly not least of our journey of Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch was the Tacos de Huevos. Also gluten-free, this dish features scrambled eggs a la plancha, rajas, bacon and queso Chihuahua. It is finished with chile de árbol salsa, onion and cilantro. We could survive on this all week and be very happy.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Of course, that’s not all that’s available on the Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch menu. Other dishes include the gluten-free Huevos Josefina (named for its Founder) and Huevos Rosa (not pictured), as well as the vegetarian Churros French Toast.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Enjoy Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am – 3pm for $20.00 per person with the purchase of an entree at all Rosa Mexicano locations, except for Boston. Happy brunching!

Restaurant Review: Boucherie West Village’s 2nd Birthday

There’s a lot to celebrate during the holiday season but for traditional French brasserie and steakhouse, Boucherie West Village, the holiday season is also a time to celebrate their anniversary. We had the wonderful pleasure of celebrating their second birthday with them in a family-style meal of French holiday classics and timeless bistro favorites. Since they opened two years ago, Boucherie West Village and Chef Jerome Dihui, have been captivating the palettes of fans.

Boucherie West Village Boucherie West Village

The 320-seat Boucherie provides a diverse array of dining options. It boasts a spacious dining room, a seat at the butcher counter, and an intimate second-floor gallery with private dining and outdoor cafe, where we were seated. With chic french cocktails, timeless French classics, and dry-aged steaks, our evening at Boucherie West Village, was filled with more than holiday magic. Join us on our culinary journey below:

COCKTAILS

Boucherie West Village Cocktails

We enjoyed two wonderful cocktails at Boucherie. We couldn’t begin our traditional French foodie adventure without having the classic French cocktail, French 75. So delicious, we ended up having two. We followed soon after with Boucherie’s Old Cuban, a blend of Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum, Cartron, Gingembre, Lime, Mint, and Sparkling Wine. It was our first time enjoying this cocktail and we have to say it’s a truly sophisticated rum drink.

STARTERS

MOULES NORMANDES

Boucherie West Village Mussels

French cuisine is known for the use of creams, cheeses, and wine; so what better way to begin than mussels cooked with white wine in a heavy cream sauce and bacon as a first course. We thoroughly enjoyed this classic dish, it’s wonderfully hearty without feeling stuffed.

RAVIOLIS AUX CHAMPIGNONS

Boucherie West Village Mushroom Ravioli

A wonderful, mushroom ravioli with black truffle beurre fondue, and burgundy truffles. We couldn’t partake because of our allergy to mushrooms but the consensus of the table proved that it is as delicious as it looks.

ENTREES

CHATEAUBRIAND POUR DEUX

Center-Cut Filet Mignon

You will swoon over this perfectly grilled center-cut filet mignon with assorted vegetables and bone marrow bordelaise. We tried to save our appetite for our own dry-aged steak but we just couldn’t resist this succulent cut. We highly recommend this perfect for two steak dish.

SUPREME DE POULET ROTI JUS DE BALSAMIQUE

Roasted Chicken in Balsamic Sauce

This divine chicken dish arrived at the same time as our main, so we didn’t enjoy a lot of it. The little we did try….wow!! The perfectly crisp skin and juicy inside were as we said, divine.

STEAK FRITES AU POIVRE

Pat LaFrieda New York Strip Steak

Alas, our Pat LaFrieda New York Strip steak with four peppercorn cream sauce and french fries had arrived. Every rustic bite of the rich flavor of this dry-aged steak was incredible. If we hadn’t mentioned before, Boucherie West Village is known for their exquisite steaks. One bite and you’ll know what we mean. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough, whether you love steak, French cuisine, and great food.

Boucherie West Village is located at 99 7th Avenue South in New York’s West Village. We’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve visited.

CMX CinéBistro New York Elevates the Dinner & A Movie Experience

The term dinner and a movie have long been stated, but CMX Cinemas has elevated the traditional date night experience to new delicious heights with the opening of the NEW CMX CinéBistro New York experience. CMX Theaters, the eighth largest movie theatre chain in the U.S, promises and delivers a VIP movie-going experience at the CMX CinéBistro New York. With a full bar and kitchen, guests are able to enjoy the full experience of enjoying a 5-star dinner and the latest movie release in one location. We had the pleasure of partaking in a VIP dinner-and-a-movie experience prior to the grand opening; enjoying an array of remarkable curated cocktails, and delectable culinary dishes by Chef Isaac Stewart.

CMX CinéBistro New York 62nd St

The 45,500 sq. ft, newly enhanced CMX CinéBistro New York theatre comes complete with cutting-edge audiovisual technology. Luxury-seeking moviegoers will enjoy an upscale and relaxing experience with its high-end décor, oversized upholstered reclining seats with leather accents, in-seat dining with seamless service and an exceptional assortment of wines and handcrafted cocktails made to order by top mixologists. We loved the option of seeing what seats were available and selecting our own seat.

The theater has six auditoriums, two on each level, ranging in size from 46 to 64 seats; and immersive bars in the common areas. Since the CMX CinéBistro New York theatre has on-site bars, you must be 21 and over to attend after 6pm.

CMX CinéBistro New York 62nd StCMX CinéBistro New York 62nd St

During our CMX CinéBistro New York VIP experience, we truly enjoyed the personalized service allotted to all guests. Our evening started off with a cocktail created by one of the on-site mixologists. The immersive bars offer a variety of artisanal cocktails ranging from classic to stylish modern options. Before our movie, we opted for the wonderfully crafted and equally delicious Strawberry Mango Lemon Drop. While seated, we opted for the equally delicious Pomegranate Elderflower Soda.

CMX CinéBistro New York 62nd St

To take advantage of the in-theatre dining at the CMX CinéBistro New York theatre, guests must arrive 30 minutes before showtime. This allows time to place your order and have plenty of time to sit back, relax and enjoy your meal. Speaking of meals, while we could order the typical movie fare of popcorn and soda, we wanted to experience the full VIP service. We ordered the Lobster Cannoli as our starter; the BBQ Spiced Rubbed CAB Cowboy Ribeye as our main; and the Caramelized Banana Cheesecake for dessert.

The CMX CinéBistro New York theatre offers a wonderful, sophisticated and varied menu. Check out some of the dishes below:

Don’t worry vegans, you are not left behind; CMX CinéBistro New York theatre offers such dishes as Korean Cauliflower Wings, Meatless Cobb Salad, and Lentil Kefta Veggie Burger. All in all, the experience was top notch. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive; the cocktails and dinner were divine; it’s the perfect dinner and a movie date night….elevated, of course. Well worth the return visits.

RESTAURANT REVIEW: La Pulperia Upper East Side Rustic Latin Cuisine

Three years ago, blogger buddy, Christine Ongsueng, an I had the pleasure of reviewing La Pulperia Hell’s Kitchen. It’s only fitting that we return to experience the menu of the La Pulperia Upper East Side location. Seafood savvy Upper East Siders have known about La Pulperia Upper East Side for four years. Now that the 2nd Avenue line is in full swing, it’s easy for everyone else to get to the restaurant– it’s right off of the 86th St. stop. Join us as we share our second experience from Chef/Owner Carlos Barroz and Victor Medina.

Atmosphere

Unlike its sister location, the La Pulperia Upper East Side is spacious and airy, yet inviting and cozy. Named and designed after the general stores or pulperias of South America, the decor features accents of reclaimed Brazilian wood and handcrafted tiles from Mexico lining the bar floor.

The front and bar area is a great meeting place for friends while the tables in the back make for a great date night option. The staff is as attentive as they are beautiful but you won’t have to worry about them hovering. Dining at La Pulperia assures you for a night of complete sensory satisfaction. Our dining experience consisted of wonderful libations, delectable starters, and mouthwatering entrees. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert

Cocktails

The Coquito Passion

Christine: For something refreshing and lightly fruity, you can’t go wrong with The Coquito Passion. Made with Bacardi Silver, Don Q Coconut Rum, passion fruit puree, agave nectar, and topped off with a sprig of mint, it’s like a tropical paradise in a glass. I can’t ever resist anything that mixes up rum, passion fruit, and agave. It was the perfect drink to imbibe on a balmy September night.

Upper East Side Lady

Glasgow: In celebration of the ending of summer, we wanted a cocktail that was slightly sweet yet a bit tart. The elegant Upper East Side Lady cocktail was a perfect choice. Featuring Strawberry infused gin, Elder Flower liquor, lavender nectar, and Gold flakes, this lightly floral cocktail was a great choice to start our evening.

Starters

Lobster Taquitos

Christine: I usually shy away from things that are described as spicy but the operative, and convincing word here, was lobster. I love lobster and I was eager to try it enveloped in a crispy wonton taquito with some avocado cream and grilled pineapple. There is a bit of a kick to these due to the spicy Kewpie mayo. However, the citrus juices from the pineapple along with the equalizing and smooth avocado cream helped to offset the spiciness.

Glasgow: The seafood lover in me was in pure bliss. The combination of creamy avocado and spicy Kewpie mayo, the smoky sweetness of grilled pineapple, and fresh lobster was divinely enhanced with a generous squeeze of lemon. Although this starter was delicious on its own, the zest of lemon added another dimension to its flavor.

Fried Oysters

Christine: Determined to train my palette to more spicy dishes, we ordered this appetizer containing 5 black ink tempura-covered oysters that sit on top of a small dollop of spinach cream and topped with chipotle mayo, blue cheese, and scallions photogenically cradled in a shell-shaped serving dishes. Who would have thought that oysters would go so well with an almost mousse-like spinach topping? Be forewarned that the lightness of the spinach cream and mayo can be a bit deceiving. While contemplating the complex mix that overwhelms the blackened oysters, the spiciness permeates your taste buds and lingers long after you’re done. For my next helping, I made sure to squeeze some lemon on top to cut back on the spicy mayo’s attack… then again I could be just a wimp.

Glasgow: I have to admit that I had never tried fried Oysters before but I am so happy that La Pulperia Upper East Side was my first foray into this delicacy. As a fan of spice and spicy foods, every bite was bursting with the right amount of heat and flavor. The flavor and texture layers of Black ink tempura, cream spinach, blue cheese, and chipotle mayo is an exciting feast for your taste buds. I must also comment on our slight addiction to the amazing cream spinach the fried oysters are plated on. I can enjoy it on and with just about everything.

Entrees

Mocqueca Mixta

Christine: If you’re like me and you tend to have a problem deciding what to get, then this bowl’s for you. It’s a little bit of everything– mussels, squid, shrimp, white fish, bacalao, chorizo, soybeans, and green coconut rice mixed with dende oil and all cooked to perfection in a creamy curry. This flavorful dish is the heart of La Pulperia, seemingly simple but refined. Every dip into the bowl will find your utensil of choice (be it a fork, spoon, or bread) with a generous helping of any of the main ingredients swimming in the coconut milk based curry. Though the green coconut rice is a side, it is very much worthy of praise all on its own. I could have eaten an entire big bowl of it. It’s the best compliment to the stew, bringing out the unique flavors of both the seafood and the chorizo.

12oz Hanger Steak w/ Spinach Mac & Cheese & French Fries

Glasgow: Since our starters were seafood, I decided to switch it up and try the La Pulperia Upper East Side 12oz Hanger Steak. This succulent and mouthwatering steak comes with great rustic sides including spinach mac & cheese, grilled broccoli rabe, and chimichurri sauce. The spinach mac & cheese was so amazing we ordered another and paired it with a side of french fries. Every bite a foodie’s dream. The variety of aromas, flavors, and textures tantalizes and hypnotizes you before even taking a bite and I happily surrendered.

Much like the Hell’s Kitchen location, our experience of La Pulperia Upper East Side was a dream. From the ambiance, staff, cocktails, and food. We were in culinary heaven from start to finish. We highly recommend treating yourself to this great rustic Latin restaurant.

Eat, Drink, Be French: French Restaurant Week Kick Off at Cafe Centro

We were invited back to French Brasserie-styled, Cafe Centro, to celebrate the kick-off of the 9th edition of French Restaurant Week New York as part of the Bastille Week festivities. From July 2nd to 15th in New York (and July 9th to 22nd in Chicago), participants will experience masterful cuisine and gastronomy while honoring French culture and history. For two weeks, selected French restaurants will offer prix-fixe menus at $17.89, $25, $38, and $178.90 to commemorate the French Revolution in 1789.

Participating New York restaurants: AOC East, AOC L’aile ou la Cuisse, Bistro Vendome, Bistrot Leo at the Sixty Soho Hotel, Boucherie , Boucherie Park, Brasserie 8 1/2 Patina Group, Cafe Centro Patina Group, Cafe du Soleil, Deux Amis, Dominique Bistro, Excuse My French, Fig & Olive, Jubilee, La Sirène, Le Bateau Ivre, Le Rivage, Maison Harlem, Match 65, Pardon My French, Perrine at The Pierre Hotel, Troquet.

French Restaurant Week continues to partner with OpenTable where diners can easily book their reservations online throughout the event. At Cafe Centro, known for French favorites with a Mediterranean twist, Executive Chef Christine Towers offered up a great selection of hors-d’oeuvres paired with two appropriately selected rosé wines (‘Tis the season for Pink Drink!):  Jalliance Cremant de Bordeaux (Brut and Rosé) and Chateau Pourcieux Rosé 2017.

Chef Towers utilizes her French-focused menu to masterfully play with Mediterranean, Italian, Japanese, Peruvian and Mexican techniques on your plate together. We sampled a beautifully refreshing Leek Terrine in champagne vinaigrette, a vibrant red Tuna Crudo (with watermelon beet and citrus), and an AMAZING Beef Tartare Crostini, which we very graciously went back to for seconds and thirds because it was THAT delicious.

Chef Towers was also very interesting to briefly chat with! Not only because of her amazing Michelin-studded resume, but her proven leadership abilities as an executive chef in a notoriously male-dominated industry. I am certain she has a lifetime of stories and pearls of wisdom to share with aspiring top chefs from all walks of life.

Cafe Centro, you have made a new friend in me.  And as the French saying goes,  “Que les invités qui entrent dans cette maison, repartent en amis.”  We will be back to embrace you at your Wine Bar series this Summer!

A New Pop Up Wine Bar Series at Café Centro sees Chef Christina Towers transforming Café Centro’s outdoor patio on 45th Street and Vanderbilt Avenue. On Monday evenings this summer, the French brasserie turns into a wine bar devoted to French pairings. Dubbed Monday Mariage, a nod to the French definition of “Mariage,” meaning “a blend of 2 things”, the wine bar runs from June 18th through September 10th, 2018 every Monday night. Each night will feature a different pairing, starting with Champagne, Provencal rosé, and Armagnac.  For $25.00 – $30.00, guests can enjoy expert pairings featuring French food and beverage menus that highlight a classic French beverage (i.e., Champagne) matched with 1-3 of its perfect counterparts (i.e. caviar). The rotating schedule kicked off on Monday, June 18th with Lanson Champagne paired with Crab Salad, CroqueMadamee with Quail Eggs and Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms. The full calendar is available on www.cafecentrowinebar.com.

ALL of the French Restaurant Week participating menus were so promising to the senses. I’ve already made my reservations for Le Bateau Ivre for lunch, Excuse My French for their Bar Menu offerings, and Cafe du Soleil for Dinner….stay tuned for reviews…

Will you be partaking in French Restaurant Week?

Restaurant Review: Bagatelle New York’s French Mediterranean Cuisine

New York has changed so much, and while the foodie in us does appreciate every new restaurant or eatery opening, the love for staple neighborhood eateries will never change. One such staple is French Mediterranean bistro,  Bagatelle New York. The French word Bagatelle means “a trifle or a little nothing”, but there was nothing little about our culinary journey there. We had the delicious opportunity to feast at their flagship location in the Meatpacking District in New York.

The esteemed restaurant’s menu has brought a European flair to the now, very modern MeatPacking District for years, with their outstanding seasonal cuisine. Their over-the-top-brunches, recurring musical tribute events Whitney Houston, Madonna, or Michael Jackson dance party, anyone?), perfect balance of flavors of their popular signature dishes make Bagatelle New York a New York institution. So, of course, we jumped at the opportunity to partake in this culinary journey.

STARTERS

Salade Bagatelle

We started off our Bagatelle New York foodie adventure with this simple and leafy delight which features butterhead lettuce, fresh garden herbs, Parmesan cheese, and Dijon mustard vinaigrette. We usually go for salads that are layered in lots of different flavors and textures (there’s usually about 8-9 ingredients in our salads); but we were pleasantly surprised when we found ourselves going back for more of this 4 ingredient treat.

Pizza à la Truffe Noire

Next up was a delicious thin crust pizza that boasts crème fraîche, black truffle oil, and smoked mozzarella cheese. The smoking of the delicious, milky mozzarella gave the pizza a crisp aroma and an abundance of flavor, and the crust with perfect crunchy without being too hard.

Tartare de Thon Bagatelle

Possibly the best tuna tartar we’ve ever devoured. The multi-textured, layered, multiflavored starter dish features yellowfin tuna tartar, topped with perfectly seasoned and creamy avocado with a slight kick, a lime soy vinaigrette, and taro chips.

MAIN COURSES

Saumon d’Ecosse

While every dish was superbly delicious, our favorite Bagatelle New York dish was the Saumon d’Ecosse……you can say it was our hero dish. We loved the rustic look and feel of this dish which boasted Scottish salmon, cauliflower, baby spinach, brown butter, pine nuts, and grapes. Each mouthful was a dance of savory, sweet, and earthy flavors that kept us reaching for more.

Poulet Rôti Entier à la Truffe

Continuing the rustic French Mediterranean journey, we dug right into the next dish, a tasty half chicken dish that was tender and homey. This assemblage of country style potatoes, caramelized cipollini, and thyme chicken jus (since we’re allergic to mushrooms, we enjoyed it without the button mushrooms and truffles), was an elegant take on roast chicken and quite delicious.

Le Steak Au Poivre

A succulent 12oz black Angus NY strip steak, topped with a cognac peppercorn sauce, and served with crispy Belgian french fries. The layers of condensed flavors in this mouthwatering steakhouse classic danced in our mouths. Boasting a light char and flavorful browning on the outside, the seared steak was perfectly highlighted by the creamy peppercorn sauce.

Another dish presented to us was the Gnocchi Truffés à la Parisienne de Nicolas, but because of the truffle sauce, we were unable to enjoy. This dish consisting of homemade choux pastry gnocchi truffle sauce and Parmesan is a restaurant favorite that many diners order daily.

DESSERT

Bagatelle Mega Sundae

The final indulgence and we do mean indulgence of our Bagatelle New York culinary journey, was this massive ice cream sundae. We highly recommend not trying to eat this by yourself, it is made to share between 3-4 people minimum, especially when you factor in all the glorious courses you will enjoy before this. This sinful decadence consists of granola, ice cream, brownies, cookies, popcorn, gummy bears, and strawberries with drizzles of chocolate and caramel sauces. This behemoth will definitely bring out your inner child but like they say at Bagatelle New York, Joie de Vivre!!

Bombay Sandwich Co. Flavors Up Ayurveda Vegan Eats in Midtown

For many, the word vegan will elicit many negative reactions, for others, it’s a new way of life that has significant health benefits. For us, it has a different meaning. While we would certainly enjoy the benefits of a healthier lifestyle, going vegan is not a choice for us….why do you ask, because of an allergy to mushrooms. Almost every vegan or vegetarian dish has mushrooms because of it’s almost meat-like texture. Great to those not allergic to mushrooms, bad for us. Thankfully, a semi-vegan lifestyle is not completely out of the picture for us if we so desired. We recently had the pleasure of experiencing the newest and most wonderfully delicious ayurvedic soul food, right in midtown Manhattan, at Bombay Sandwich Co.

The Bombay Sandwich Co. menu is packed with fresh, natural, and nutritious foods seasoned with some of the most flavorful herbs and spices that boast significant health benefits. These ayurvedic spices include Turmeric, Cardamom, Cumin, Fennel, and Asafoetida. All of these are great sources of vitamins and nutrients, are kosher, gluten-free, vegan, and contain antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, all while adding layers of flavor to the menu’s vegetables, legumes, and nut dishes. The result is delicious vegetarian and vegan options that we thoroughly enjoyed. And a bonus, no mushrooms of any kind. Bombay Sandwich Co. offers soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps, bowls, platters, vegan beverages, and desserts. Although we didn’t get to try everything because we had to leave early (this we plan on rectifying very soon), we did dive right into small samples of their Vegan Mango Lassi, Chana Masala, and French Lentils.

SALADS

Pictured above is the Kale & Hearty Salad featuring marinated kale topped with avocado, cabbage, carrots beets and sunflower seeds, with the house dressing; and the Organic Quinoa Salad, with mixed greens, organic quinoa, chickpeas, cardamom, dates, scallions, and almonds, with olive oil & lemon. Also on the menu is a Garden Salad and Small Shepard Salad.

WRAPS

There are two wraps available on the Bombay Sandwich Co. menu, the above Kale & Sweet Potato Wrap with marinated kale, beets, carrots, cabbage with sweet potato, dried cranberries, fresh ginger, carom seed, with date chutney in a whole-wheat wrap; and an Organic Quinoa Wrap.

SANDWICHES

Sandwich lovers will love the six varieties available. Pictured above is the Garden Sandwich, with mixed greens, avocado, cucumber, tomato, pickled onions, and alfalfa sprouts with a homemade kale and walnut pesto, tomato chutney, on 7-grain bread; and the Chana Masala Sandwich, their most popular, with mom’s slow-cooked chickpeas topped with mixed greens, pickled onions, and homemade date chutney on a Tasca ciabatta roll. The other sandwiches include Honey-Fennel Grilled Cheese, Veggie Mashup Sandwich, Organic Tofu Masala Sandwich, and Fresh Mozzarella & Apple.

BOWLS

We may be biased since this is what we sampled, but the Bombay Sandwich Co. Bowls are hands-down going to be an ultimate favorite for us. It doesn’t matter if you’re a die-hard carnivore, you will not miss or even notice the lack of meat in these super meals. There are three bowls to enjoy, the Chana Masala bowl (pictured first), which features mom’s chickpea stew with garlic, ginger, tomato, Indian gooseberry (aka amla) and fresh ground spices (we could enjoy this every day for the rest of our lives and be very happy); the French Lentils bowl, with the chef’s favorite – slow-cooked French lentils with cumin, asafetida, red chillies and ginger; and the third (not pictured), the Veggie Mashup bowl.

Walking us through the menu was Chef Shiv Puri (pictured above), who started Bombay Sandwich Co. as a booth at NYC’s premier food festival, Smorgasburg, with his wife Shikha Jain.

“Our recipes focus on Ayurvedic healing spices so that each dish delivers more than just good taste. Our ingredients are locally sourced, organic and 100% GMO-free,” says Chef Shiv Puri and his wife Shikha Jain. “Our foods appeal to New Yorkers who are interested in healthy eating and that includes knowing what’s in their food and where it comes from.”

Every Bombay Sandwich Co. promises a flavorful and visual feast combining sweet, savory, cool and warm sensations with an equally vast variety of textures. If you’re looking to get away from the mundane tasting vegan food, look no further, your palate will definitely not be disappointed. Bombay Sandwich Co. has two locations, 48 West 27th Street in the Flatiron District, and 224 W35th St. in midtown. Visit www.bombaysandwichco.com for more information.
