Illamasqua Launches at Bloomingdales W/ Live Artistry Experience From Creative Director, Alex Box

Earlier this month Illamasqua provided bloggers and editors with the rare opportunity to see Illamasqua’s creative director, Alex Box, do a live demo of her makeup artistry. These live demo events were just in time for the unveiling of Illamasqua at Bloomingdale stores in New York, Miami, New Jersey and Chicago. If you’ve ever seen an artist at a live painting event then this is the same sort of concept. The model’s face was a blank canvas and Box did her thing in real time with a great soundtrack playing along; as the music got more lively and upbeat, so did her movements and strokes. It was definitely a great experience to watch, especially when she surprised us all and slashed blue color all over what we thought would just be a pretty, but very sculpted face. We should have known better. See her process in pictures below:

No longer only at Sephora, Illamasqua in the US can now be purchased at Bloomingdales counters in Chicago, Short Hills New Jersey, Miami, and 59th, Soho and Huntington LI Bloomingdale stores so, be sure to check Illamasqua out there and shop the new Sacred Hour collection.

***Thanks to Beauty Contributor, Laura of Blush and Beakers for attending the Illamasqua Event with me and covering for My Life on and off the Guest List. Make sure to check out her blog.

Beauty Buy | Illamasqua’s Raindrops Nail Varnishes Now Available at Sephora

Have you been dying with envy over the fact that only British beauty addicts have been enjoying Illamasqua’s coveted Raindrops and Pink Raindrops nail varnishes? Well my fellow US-based beauty lovers, that time is now over for both Raindrops are now available at We finally get to delight ourselves in these coveted nail varnishes which feature a sheer finish with lightly reflective silver glimmer.

To celebrate this exciting new launch, Illamasqua US Nail Ambassador, Fleury Rose, shares two edgy DIY designs inspired by two-tone nail art – a hot (and rather easy) new trend for a sophisticated, graphic look. See the nail looks and how to replicate them below:

Illamasqua DIY Nail Art with Raindrops and Pink Raindrops by US Nail Ambassador Fleury Rose

1.) Prep nail by removing old polish, filing, buffing, and applying a thin coat of Illamasqua Base Coat
2.) Apply two coats of your preferred Raindrops polish, and let dry 5-10 minutes
3.) Apply a swipe of your complimentary polish in Caress (cornflower blue) or Harem (bright mauve pink) to the smallest end of a wedge makeup sponge and gently dab at an angle creating a straight diagonal line. (pro tip: This is a great technique to create easy color block nails!)
4.) Apply another swipe of polish, and dab the nail creating another diagonal line which connects at the tip of the nail. There should be a triangle of your Raindrops color visible at the center of the nail.
5.) Repeat on all nails, and go back in with more polish on the sponge filling in the side triangles till opaque. Allow to dry 5-10 minutes.
6.) Dip a very fine pointed brush in Nail Varnish in Scorch (white), and wipe excess off on edge of the bottle. Carefully outline each nail with a thin line. Repeat on each nail.
7.) Allow nails to dry 5-10 minutes before applying a top coat.

Raindrops and Pink Raindrops are available at Get them before they’re gone.

Be a True Blue Beauty with Illamasqua’s New Blue Nail Varnishes

For nail color, the fall season is all about being blue. Shades of blue adorn the talons of stylemakers and trendsetters on city streets everywhere. Illamasqua will keep you a true blue beauty with the two editions to their beloved Illamasqua Nail Varnish Collection – Noble (cornflower blue) and Cameo (turquoise blue).

Illamasqua’s Director of Product Development, David Horne specifically mixed these two complimentary hues to compliment Illamasqua’s range of over 50 bold shades of chip resistant, long wearing nail varnishes. Illamasqua US Nail Ambassador, Fleury Rose suggests pairing the two colors together. Check out the tutorial video below

“It’s fun to play with the two shades together; I would recommend a modern french manicure or using Noble as an accent nail while painting the rest of the hand in Cameo. Blue nails just add the perfect pop of color! Featuring Illamasqua’s highly pigmented formulation both varnishes are true to color with just two coats, which is often hard to find in a blue varnish.” – Fleury Rose, Illamasqua US Nail Art Ambassador.

Noble and Cameo to be sold exclusively at Sephora, Sephora inside JCP and online at from October 4, 2012 and retails for $14.00.
