Desigual Fall/Winter 2015 Collection

For us, the Fall 2015 season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week started with a collection filled with a dazzling array of prints, textures, and colors. A living, multi-cultural canvas that came to life under the bright lights of Lincoln Center. For the Desigual Fall 2015 Collection, we see a celebration of the many cultures that are brought together at Monsieur Christian Lacroix’s Desigual studio. The mixing of lush landscapes, influences from the four points, and the decorative and pragmatic folk art that influenced this season’s collections, shows how diversity can come together beautifully. We loved seeing the brand’s new face, Chantelle Brown-Young, taking a break from the Desigual campaigns to hit the runway.

If the people at the Christian Lacroix Desigual studio are the artists, then the Fall 2015 Collection is the canvas. The collection was peppered with influences from abstract paintings, stunning upholstery, photographs of Africa, a nod to the historic Renaissance era in Northern Europe, and a landscape filled with an abundance of flowers. We see African-inspired black and white prints, multi-colored embroideries from the world over, oriental carpet motifs, and Baroque tapestries woven into evocative abstraction, all of which continues to celebrate the brand’s message of “La Vida es Chula!” (Life is Cool!)

You can no doubt see the festive mood of the collection just from the photos. With models dancing down the runways adorned with explosions of medieval gemstones, modern artwork, exotic flower bouquets, all presented on printed tulles, jacquards, embossed hair, and duchess satin. We especially love the giant pompoms and wild free-flowing hair, which perfectly suited the collection.

We love the celebration of the unique, being atypical, and self-expression that Desigual stands for. The show, of course had no shortage of celebrities. Brand Ambassador, Adriana Lima, along with Katie Holmes, held court in front row, while Rapper Drake went more incognito and opted for a seat in the back as to not distract from the show.

As usual, the show ended with the designers thanking everyone in a adorable way

Katie Holmes & Kohl’s Pink Elephant Campaign

While we provide lots of coverage of Breast Cancer Awareness products during October, we understand the fight continues the other eleven months out of the year and needs continuous support; this is why we love that Katie Holmes has teamed up with Kohl’s to encourage women to start the conversation about Breast Cancer. In an effort to confront the “pink elephant in the room”, Kohl’s is featuring a special, limited edition pink elephant necklace (available in two sizes)  from the LC Lauren Conrad collection. Katie Holmes, seen below rocking the Kohl’s Pink Elephant Necklace, was out and about promoting the amazing Kohl’s Pink Elephant Campaign.

“Breast cancer is like a pink elephant in the room that women don’t really want to think about, but know they should,” said Katie Holmes. “Women have so much going on in their day-to-day lives, it can be easy to ignore their own needs, like scheduling a mammogram or routine screening. I’m honored to team up with Kohl’s to remind women of the importance of having a conversation about breast health right now.”

100% of the proceeds from the sale of these special necklaces (started Wednesday, February 19th), goes towards the fight against breast cancer through Kohl’s Cares, the company’s philanthropic platform. Priced at only $5.00 and $8.00 each, the two necklaces will be available while supplies last for a limited time in stores and online. From Tuesday, February 18th through Saturday, March 8th, Kohl’s will also donate $1.00 to Susan G. Komen for every pink Kohl’s Cash coupon redeemed, a minimum of $100,000 up to $1 million.

Ann Taylor Summer 2011 Preview

Ann Taylor continues its successful youthful collections at the hands of Creative Director Lisa Axelson, they have even tapped All-American cutie, Actress Katie Holmes as the new face for their Spring Campaign.

Katie Holmes replaces Heidi Klum for the classic yet modern and feminine chic of Ann Taylor, and feminine chic is exactly what the Summer 2011 collection is. Ann Taylor continues to give me reasons to love them and when you see what they’re offering for Summer, you’ll love them too (if you don’t already)

This collection, inspired by the artistry, architecture, bold patterns, vivid colors and artisan details of mexico does not disappoint. My favorite pieces from the summer collection, which have deliveries in May, June and July, are the prints. As you can see above, the prints are young, fresh and vibrant. It makes me think of tropical locations I’d very much like to be at this very moment (and until there is not an inch of snow left on the ground). The first photo features a Jungle Floral print dress that would put birds of paradise to shame with its gorgeous colors. I also love the soft gathers around the hip area – very flattering to the hips. The Palm Print Halter in the third halter catches the eye not just because of the print, the square neckline is a nice change from the plunging necklines we saw in everything in 2010.

The collection wasn’t all prints and the prints were definitely not the only things to catch my eye. Ann Taylor featured several gorgeous pieces in soft shades with iridescent accents and artisan details. I love the asymmetrical details of the first look, the exquisite detail of the embroidered mini skirt in the second look and the creamicle-colored color block cascade shell in the third

Now one cannot discuss Ann Taylor without mentioning their amazing accessories. I must say, after collection several necklaces, earring, bracelets over the years and wearing them once (if that much), Ann Taylor made me fall in love with accessories again. I mean, how divine are the necklaces shown below

and as a self-proclaimed shoe addict, I can already picture these beauties in my shoe cubby (actually, I can picture myself wearing them to some fantastic event )

In my last Ann Taylor feature, you may remember reading about the introduction of their Ann Taylor Weddings Collection, well this summer features more from the collection but that’s not the only new addiction to Ann Taylor

For your mini fashionistas, Ann Taylor introduces “Little Ann”

There was only one look featured but I’m sure we’ll be seeing much more very soon. See below for more looks from the Ann Taylor Summer Collection
