Getting Gorgeous for New York Fashion Week at the Angelo David Salon

Thanks once again to the Angelo David Salon, we had the opportunity to enjoy a day of glam during the stressful days of New York Fashion Week. we were treated to our now usual fabulous blowout, courtesy of Ivy, who did our hair in February, and our usual amazing manicure from Marjana, who’s now pampered our nails four times now. My glam process started with getting my hair cleansed and prepped by Ivy, snacking on delicious Popchips, enjoying a lovely glass of white wine, and a hand massage with L’Occitane En Provence’s world-famous Shea Butter Hand Cream from Marjana.

Next up was our great fall-inspired manicure with Essie’s Fall 2014 Dress To Kilt Collection. We decided to pair Essie’s “Fall in Line”, an enigmatic jade green with “The Perfect Cover Up”, a powerful peacock teal.

The wonderful Angelo David Salon hair products used on my hair include Long & Strong Detangler, Vital Complex Leave-In Conditioner, and Smooth Fast Drying Hair Cream to control my frizz. As you can see the result is a fabulous head of sophisticated curls that had me ready for the night

LuLu’s NYFW Style Studio 2014

Thanks to the very cool online retailer, LuLu’s, our fashion week experience was filled with more than just the work of running around covering runway shows. At their hours long LuLu’s NYFW Style Studio event, we were in for a night of fashion and fun; a fabulous event full of free fashion and beauty giveaways, delicious cocktails, product sampling and amazing LuLu’s swag!

Upon arrival and after checking in (we thankfully got there early as it got really crowded later on), we were treated to delicious cocktails courtesy of Hpnotiq (who also had a great bar at the back), then it was off to the product gifting suite area for goodies from Godiva Chocolates, Kind Bars, PopChips, Twistbands, LuLu Mirrors, Smith’s Rose & Mandarin Lip Balm, Too Faced Cosmetics Better Than Sex Mascara, NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick, Bodyography Lip Gloss and Shea Moisture Body Butter.

After the gifting suite, it was on to get acquainted with the latest product launches from companies like Pop Beauty, Lush (whose Cupcake Fresh Face Mask for oily skin is amazing), Shea Moisture (I’m addicted to their Coconut & Hibiscus body butter, so we know their body and massage oil will be great), and One Love (a brand I recently covered for Valentine’s Day).

After table hoping, it was time to get a makeover from NYX Cosmetics, mani from Pritti NYC and spin the LuLu wheel to win more prizes (although I wasn’t lucky) and then go upstairs to select one very fab article of clothing to take home free of charge and courtesy of LuLu’s.

As you can see, we had lots of fun at the LuLu’s NYFW Style Studio event, if you ever get the chance to attend, don’t hesitate to respond with a yes. Meanwhile, check out some of the amazing fashions you can snag for yourself on their website,

DSW Presents Step Up & Step Out Event

DSW, every women’s favorite shoe store, collaborated with the Step Up Women’s Network to create a wonderful event, a pop-up shoe boutique held at the W Hotel called Step Up & Step Out, A Designer Shoe Sale for the Mind, Body and Sole.

The event wasn’t just a shoe sale, it began with a Champagne Preview Brunch for the Step Up Women’s Network top supporters (see the end of this post for more information on Step Up)

hosted by Honorary Chair, Vanessa Minnillo, who was super sweet when asked to take photos and suprisingly much taller than I originally presumed.

I got a brief video of her speech but I had to run out a grab photos of the shoes, etc before the stampede of women left the brunch to shop (Kelly Rutherford and Michelle Trachtenberg of Gossip Girl were also there but I didn’t get to take a photo of either)( I unfortunately also missed a moving performance by Step Up teens)

Let’s start with the waiting area to the brunch where we sipped on Mimosas prior to the event. There were quite a few interactive features for attendees to participate. Viv Magazine, the Step Up Women’s Network and some fun “what shoe are you?” cutouts from DSW

Continuing on throughout the event, I came upon Style lounges which featured various companies such as Equinox, which offered yoga classes

and Ann Taylor and Tarte (Tarte gave mini makeovers)

Then it was time to the main reason we were there – SHOES!!! I wanted to buy just about ever single pair of shoes. Heaven was the at the W Hotel that day. Approximately 700 women purchased over 1500 pairs of shoes with all net proceeds supporting Step Up’s charitable programs

Of course I had my ultimate favorites, many of which I wanted to take right then and there, but having a very commom shoe size (size 9) and the fact that my wallet doesn’t quite equal my shoe appetite in size…well…you get the idea

I ultimately left with a very gorgeous pair of purple satin strappies from the DSW Studio, they look very sexy on

We were also treated to some lovely treats from Popchips, Cupcakes from Crumbs and delicious frozen yogurt bars from Jala (a lowfat, active probiotic and anti-oxidant rich yogurt bar)

The best part of the entire event was that we had the first hour all to ourselves before the hour to ourselves to shop before the general public and as time went on prices just kept on going lower and lower. All shoes were 25% off, then 50% off (you get the idea). My shoes only cost about $18

There was another aspect to the event but by that time I was exhausted to do anything other than go home (buying shoes does wear you out) but I think I should at least mention it. Along with the fabulous shoe sale, there was also many wonderful items donated for auction from the companies featured in the photo below

but as I stated, I didn’t stay long after. I collected my giftbag and my purchase and headed home. I loved the entire event and I hope they do it again next year. From what I saw, I can honestly say that this was a very successful event for both Step Up and DSW.

GenArt Shop NYC

If you like shopping events like Shecky’s Girls Night Out, you will love Gen Art‘s Shop NYC Event. Gen Art held it’s 2nd shopping event at the old Fairchild Publications (WWD, DNR, Footwear News, etc)building, 7W Loft . Over 60 womenswear, menswear, and accessories brands, including DRU New York, Vintage Loft NYC, edressme, Bysog New York, Yumi Kim, etc were onsite to offer their products for up to 70% off and there were also the freebies (samples, makeovers, food, drinks) from Degree, Pinkberry, DEX, The Skin Spa, Milagro and Hendrick’s summer cocktails, etc .

I arrived (Kim and Marisol would join me later) to be greated by a large Degree Lounge with three posts which showcased the three new scents from their Fine Fragrance Collection (Delicious Bliss, Sexy Intrigue and Classic Rommance). My favorite (and the one I’m currently using) is Sexy Intrigue whose notes consists of Jasmine, Rose and vanilla but I only took a photo of Delicious Bliss

I started walking around to see what goodies I’d see that would get me in trouble (I was on a budget this week). After I grabbed a glass of wine from a passing server, I heading to the BYSOG New York table (gorgeous handmade Italian Leather bags) in delicious colors

I also eyed the table next to them which had beautiful metal headbands which was very crowded, so I took a photo of a whole distance and continued since there was a lot of ground to cover

The next table that caught my eye was a collection of body jewelry, body necklaces to be exact and I’m not talking bellychains. I’m not sure if the name of the company is MacArt as stated above the necklace on the wall but my searches found no jewelry collection under that name

And since I was nearby, I decided to take a break and grab some Pinkberry (they were also giving out Popchips, but whenever I went back to their table, they were always out) but unfortunately, they were out of the Pinkberry yogurt so all anyone could get was fruit, which was fine by me (healthy thinking), so i grabbed a cup of mango and strawberry and continued on

My next stop was eDressMe, which had several racks of gorgeous dresses on sale, I saw names like Betsey Johnson, Scala, Jessica McClintock, etc. There was a $99, $50 and a $20. Yes a rack of dresses all for $20 each!!

And you might be wondering if I found a dress and I can tell you yes I did and it is beautiful. It is a Bollywood inspired dress and a photo of the style is below (mine is a lighter green)

I did some research and found out the designer is Jovani and it retails for $440. Don’t believe me, check out the details HERE.
