Disney & LeSportsac Launch “It’s a Small World” Handbag & Accessories Collection

Fans of LeSportsac, especially their Artist in Residence Series, will love their latest collaboration. Disney has teamed up with the classic handbag company, to create a Limited edition and one of a kind collection called  “It’s a Small World” . The inspiration behind the collection is to take you around the world and back again. The collection features handbags, totes, and accessories inspired by the mid-century artwork of Disney artist Mary Blair, who created the whimsical look of the beloved Disney theme park attraction “It’s a Small World.” The summer collection includes the “Wondrous Journey” and “Tahitian Dreams” prints seen below, with additional prints debuting during the Fall and Holiday seasons.

Disney It’s a Small World by LeSportsac collection includes five seasonal deliveries, each inspired by a specific country. In addition to celebrating a country, each delivery will be anchored with a Signature Tote and a colorful print that pays tribute to the unique facades and architectural works of Disney’s it’s a small world attraction. The collection kicks off with a celebration of Tahiti that includes two graphic totes and a range of 12 styles in two vibrant prints.

Hello Kitty Limited Edition Collection for Forever 21

Fun Fact – Hello Kitty and I share the same birthday. Yep, yesterday, November 1st, was both our birthdays. As a fan, I feel honored to share a birthday with such a great brand. I’m also ecstatic to hear about the new partnership Sanrio’s Hello Kitty has with Forever 21. For their first exclusive collaboration (hopefully not their last), Hello Kitty will create a limited edition collection for Forever 21 which will include women’s apparel, intimate apparel, hosiery, jewelry and accessories.

The collection contains the playfulness and whimsy of Sanrio’s most famous character and the chic yet fun-loving design philosophy of Forever 21. The broad range of limited edition styles will surely excite both fans of Hello Kitty and Forever 21. It will include everything from adorable accessories such as hats, jewelry, bags, socks, tights and even Hello Kitty’s signature pink bow hair accessory for the more fun set while fashion followers will enjoy the contemporary line of hello Kitty poinette sweaters, logo tees and cardigans.

The more quirky pieces will be available in shimmering sequins, soft pleather and plastic while the fashionable side will feature bow blouses (pictured above), shrunken blazers, canvas bags and even a maxi dress. LOFT & Marie Claire Partner for Front Row Fashion

Attention all you college-aged designers, Loft and Marie Claire has teamed up to give you the chance to win a Marie Claire-produced fashion show with Loft’s inspiring designs at your school. The Front Row Fashion Challenge, presented by LOFT, offers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to plan, promote, and style your very own runway show this October and November 2011.

“Marie Claire has always believed in the importance of personal style, drive, and ambition. We’re launching this exciting opportunity because we know that young women in this life stage are making their mark on the world in a variety of ways. We want to give them the tools to do it with style,” says Joanna Coles, Editor in Chief, Marie Claire magazine.

The application process requires students to provide insights about their personal style, where they find their fashion inspiration, and how they communicate through social networking outlets. Judges will seek out young women who are interested in exploring the multi-faceted aspects of fashion business – from marketing to styling, and fashion show production.

The program offers students the opportunity to prepare for their impending leap into the workplace. Throughout the whole process, they’ll learn the importance of first impressions, the value of networking, and the ways in which their future profession can influence their wardrobes – and vice versa.

Marie Claire’s editors, alongside Alia Ahmed-Yahia, LOFT’s Fashion Director, will be mentoring and ultimately judging each show from the front row. They will grant one winning student a coveted Marie Claire and LOFT summer 2012 internship.

Designer Collaboration – Rory Beca for Forever 21

Designer Rory Beca was on hand at Forever 21 Times Square to introduce her exclusive design collaboration, Rory Beca for Forever 21, with the retail giant. My days of shopping at Forever 21 are long gone or so I thought. Fashion does indeed take flight as the young designer introduces such gorgeous pieces as the Splatter One Shoulder Dress and the Splatter Drawcord Dress – my favorite print from the collection.

Other great pieces that are sure to be key in your wardrobe include an adorable Satin Swing Skirt, which goes great with a tee or a not so basic top, like Rory Beca’s Embellished Knit Top (seen paired below).

and another favorite, the very comfortable Beaded Collar Dress, which can be layered under a hot pink cardigan for a burst of color, worn with leggings or alone. It was quite a popular piece as you can see in the photo below.

I got a chance to speak with Rory Beca in between meeting/greeting the eager young girls patiently waiting to get insight into her design world and experience. She kept them entranced with her approachable and easy going personality.

But back to my interview – her story is an interesting one. Her whole business is literally a family affair. Her brother makes her wonderful prints, her dad  (a Dentist) made her deliveries, etc but I’ll let Rory tell you her story in her own words.

This wonderful collection is available both in-store and online but it won’t be forever. All items are while quantities last and judging by the numerous purchases I saw, it won’t be for much longer.
