Gold Medal Taste: Toast the Olympics with Cuca Fresca Cachaca

We’ve been so engrossed with the Olympic games, we almost forgot to highlight this delicious spirit. We’re happy to say that multiple gold medals aren’t the only thing we are excited to see come from Brazil. Your favorite cocktails will never be again thanks to the Brazil-originated Cuca Fresca Cachaca. For those who don’t know, Cachaca is a distilled spirit made from the juice of sugar canes.  In honor of the Olympics and the hot summer sun, we present the perfect alcoholic drinks. Why perfect? The words “Cuca Fresca”, translate to “cool head”,  a Brazilian expression meaning “to be cool” or “have a chill vibe.” All words that perfectly describe this Brazilian spirit and the following cocktails.

Cachaca is the most popular distilled alcoholic drink in Brazil. It is similar to rum with the exception of the fresh sugar cane juice in Cachaca, and molasses in rum. Cuca Fresca Cachaca is available in two varieties: Cuca Prata, a premium silver cachaca that is aged for one year in oak after being double distilled and triple filtered; and Cuca Ouro, a premium gold artisanal cachaca that has been aged for four years in Jequitiba, a native Brazilian wood.

We had the pleasure of attending an intimate rooftop party to welcome Cuca Fresca Cachaca with some delicious, signature cocktails made with the national spirit of Brazil. We enjoyed three delicious cocktails, including Brazil’s classic cocktail at Tavern 29, located in Midtown East.

The above cocktail was a surprise one, and included such ingredients as red wine, lime, Cuca Fresca, etc, that wasn’t on the original menu for the event but the Mixologist at Tavern 29 wowed us with its deliciousness. How were we blessed with this knockout spirit in the USA? It’s all thanks to rapper Snoop Dogg! You read that right. Along with being its brand ambassador, Snoop Dogg is also a major shareholder of Cuca Fresca Cachaca.

Both of the 750ml Cuca Fresca Cachaca varieties are available for $25.00 each. Even a limited edition Cuca Fresca Ouro which features Snoop Dogg’s engraved signature is still only $25.00. Cuca Fresca also has a premium ready-to-drink Caipirinha, Brasil’s national cocktail, that’s delicious on the rocks or frozen for only $13.00. Aperol Aperitif Kicks Off Spritz Season at Eataly

We’re having some difficulty keeping up with all the summer rooftop parties we’re invited to, not that we’re complaining. With all the sadness happening in the world, we’ll happily indulge in a little fun escape. We were invited by Aperol Aperitif to kick off summer and the Spritz cocktail season at Eataly’s rooftop pop-up, Sabbia. We had quite a lovely time enjoying a few delicious Aperol Aperitif Spritz cocktails, and some wonderful bites. For those who don’t know, Aperol is the perfect Italian aperitif, thanks to unique taste made of a brilliant mix of herbs and roots (some of which include bitter orange, gentian, rhubarb, chinchona, and others), and its reduced alcohol content.

Attendees of the event were treated to cool Aperol swag, such as t-shirts, sunnies, caps, and even ties to compliment the Italian aperitif. Along with passed around cocktails, the event also boasted two Spritz cocktail stations and a station to add your own cocktail garnishes, featuring Joe Campanale, Beverage Director and Co-Owner dell’anima, L’Artusi, Anfora, and L’Apicio. If you want to know how to create the perfect Spritz cocktail at home, just remember 3, 2, 1! That’s 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperol Aperitif, and 1 part soda. You can’t go wrong with this easy recipe.

Don’t those Aperol Aperitif Spritzes look delicious and refreshing? If you’re familiar with Sabbia on the Roof at Eataly, you know the food is amazing. Guests were treated to a variety of delicious Assaggi (menu tastings) including Insalata Estiva con Anguria E Ricotta Salata, Panzanella, Prosciutto Cotto E Carciofi, Gamberetti Zucchine E Finocchio, Coppa Fontina E Radicchio, and Prosciutto E Melone.

Lo Bosworth enjoyed the classic gin and tonic, and as an aspiring chef was delighted to meet Chef Michael White. We have no doubt she picked his brain and got some great cooking tips from the world-renowned chef. about his life and experience as a . The distinct cocktails and light fare paired wonderfully together, with both evoking the taste of the sea.

World Martini Day with elit Vodka Penthouse at Marmara Park Ave

Whether you like it shaken, stirred, dirty, or dry, there’s no denying the delicious star power of a Martini. We had the pleasure of attending a few fabulous elit Vodka events to celebrate the upcoming World Martini Day aka National Martini Day. Renown mixologists were on hand at the Penthouse at Marmara Park Ave in New York, taken over by elit vodka for the entire month to celebrate martinis, to wow us with some of the most delicious martinis we’ve tasted. We were lucky enough to attend the launch event on June 1st, and the event to celebrate National Best Friend’s Day on June 8th. With one of our besties in tow, we enjoyed a night filled with a wonderful variety of martinis.

elit vodka is Stoli’s luxury, triple-distilled vodka made from grains harvested from a farm in Tambov, Russia. As a grain vodka, elit vodka produces fewer impurities during the fermentation process. Although grain vodka doesn’t need as much distillation, elit is still distilled four times, resulting in a vodka that is crisp, purer, smoother on the palate, and a delicious base for some very delicious cocktails.

Are you ready to dive into some of the smoothest and most delicious martinis you’ve ever had? Keep scrolling to indulge in one of four elit vodka martini recipes we enjoyed at the event, including Spring Thyme, Cloud 18, LED Martini, and La Signora.

.75 oz Sage Infused Dolin Dry Vermouth*
2 dashes of celery bitters
*add 40 sage leaves and 6 thyme sprigs in a bottle for 2 hours then strain out.
In a mixing glass add all ingredients and stir for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a small sprig of thyme and sage attached to a mini clothespin. Express oils from a small piece of lemon over cocktail and discard.

Cloud 18

Cloud 18 2
Created by Anthony Bohlinger (Maison Premier, Seamstress NYC)
1.5 elit Vodka
.5 Superior Vermouth (blend of noilly prat and Dolin dry)
.25 creme de violet
2 dashes lavender bitters
4 dashes Germain-Robin Absinthe Blanche
Place all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir with ice. In a martini chiller glass, place three pieces of culinary dry ice into the bowl section of the glass and add 2 oz of warm water, and give it a quick stir. Top with the martini glass and pour in the cocktail from the mixing glass. Garnish with a sprig of fresh lavender and express a lemon zest over top.

LED Martini Created by Rael Petit, The Roxy Hotel & Lot 45

LED Martini 1

1.5 oz elit Vodka
.5 oz Banana Liqueur
.75 oz Lemon Juice
.25 oz Simple Syrup
6 dashes of pea flower
3 dashes of hibiscus
The LED Martini was inspired by the burgeoning trend of technology and lifestyle becoming one (see: Claire Danes’ dress at the 2016 Met Gala and elit vodka’s own ballerina shown above). With just a few drops of concentrated floral leaves and the light from an LED bulb, the drink transforms from a clear cocktail to an illuminated and colorful concoction. Shake all ingredients and pour into a martini glass over ice. Add six dashes of pea flower and three dashes of hibiscus and watch the color change. Created in honor of World Martini Day and available all month long at Lot 45 in Bushwick.

La Signora Created by Nola Woodall (Sweetwater Social)

La Signora Branded Garnish 1

2oz elit Vodka
.75 Chareau Aloe liqueur
.25 Lustau Amontillado Sherry
2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
Serve: Up
Garnish: Lemon peel
La Signora is a lighter style martini with several layers of flavor and a long finish. The aloe liqueur has replaced the vermouth in this cocktail and the Amontillado serves to balance the sweetness in the cocktail while adding another layer to the palate.

Will you be raising an elit glass or two for World Martini Day? What’s your favorite elit vodka martini recipe?
