tokidoki Beauty Collection Launch Exclusively at Sephora

Sephora, the visionary retailer, has always been at the forefront of beauty, showcasing ground-breaking brands, trends and the latest product innovations. Taking this tradition to the next level, Sephora presents tokidoki (which means “sometimes” in Japanese), a line inspired by the work of celebrated Italian artist Simone Legno.

tokidoki is a provocative and playful mix of colors, textures and must-have accessories. The line combines the imaginative playfulness of the tokidoki universe with the highest quality, color-rich formulations. While the packaging includes youthful shapes, glitter and cartoon inspired characters, the color collection is designed to appeal to every color, adventurous glam goddess.

While pressed for time, I was able to get a record-breaking makeover that included Punk Lash Mascara ($18.00), Perfetto Eyeliner ($16.00), Cromatic Eyeshadow Singles ($15.00), Inferno Bronzer ($22.00) and Prisma Gloss ($15.00). I fell in LOVE with the Punk Lash Mascara! It was a good thing I was in a daring mood, otherwise I would have never tried their vibrant, blue mascara. the color was very bold and high in pigmentation. The eye products are for a confident woman who wants to draw attention to her eyes. The mascara will make your eye color pop! The best part, besides the fun color, was our eyelashes didn’t feel coated or heavy. Some mascaras clump; this one did not. If time permitted, I would have gladly tried the green or purple. The four great colors available are Cactus Rocket (Black), Sabochan (Purple), Mad Rocker (Green) and Baby Rocker (Blue).

Our Editor, Glasgow, tried the Green Mascara and fell in love with it. She usually wears black but has been known to wear Electric Blue but she said the Green really made her eyes stand out.  She also tried the Fantastico Lip Stain ($15.00) in Carnivora, which she said lasted long after several glasses of wine, water and hors d’oeuvres. Other colors include Cactus Friends (Coral), Nana Star (Pink), Peperincino (Maroon) and Rainbow Cloud (Nude)

tokidoki’s collection of eyes, lips, face and body, nails products and “fun” cosmetic bags may seem like it’s targeted to the very young but don’t let the packaging fool you, this collection is perfect for glam goddesses of all ages who enjoy color. We were given a few samples (bronzer, eyeshadow and lip gloss) to enjoy but both Glasgow and I are dying to get the blue and green mascaras.

tokidoki will be sold exclusively at all Sephoras and on in May 2010 but a select few, like Sephora Times Square, already have the collection…… so happy shopping

Talika Lipocils Expert Launch

Many people don’t know this but I have an annoying problem with my eyelashes, I lose multiple lashes a day every day – I’m surprised my eyes aren’t bald. I lose lashes when I wash my face, rub my eyes, apply mascara, walk outside on a particular windy day. This has also made my lashes shorter and thinner than usual. Although I found out something quite fascinating – every human being has 300 eyelashes and we shed as many as 3-5 per day (I’m on the higher side of that range).

This brings me to Talika, a Paris based company that was created in a hospital by “a young woman Doctor, named Danielle Roches, who developed an anti-bacterial cream with plant extracts to help cure people suffering from dramatic face and eyes burns due to war casualties.” I was first introduced to Talika at a Spa Week Media Event when they were introducing their Bust Serum, a product I didn’t get to try because…..well….D Cups. I was also introduced to the Lipocils Eyelash Conditioning Gel and was given a sample, which I also didn’t get to try because of a relative. But this time around, I finally get to benefit. This June, Talika will introduce Lipocils Expert, a gentle eyelash product made from 12 plants plus peptides to nurture lashes and revitalize the skin around the lash line. I promises to give you longer, darker and curlier lashes in 28 days. I would say that unlike it’s competition, Latisse, this product won’t change the color of your eyelids or eyes (there are no side effects with Lipocils Expert at all) but I don’t consider Latisse their competition because Lipocils Expert doesn’t change your DNA in any way.

Lipocils Expert has a two-in-one applicator. A soft wand tip for the roots of your lashes & lash line and a mascara brush for the whole lash so product will coat lashes all the way to the ends. The Lipocils Expert will be exclusive to Sephora when it launches and will retail for $55. Meanwhile, take a look at the Talika Products.

Check out more information about Talika’s Lipocils Expert from the very charismatic Alexis de Brosses, President of Talika on the videos below

I will be testing out the Lipocils Expert for the next 28 days and giving my feedback to see if my lashes grow longer, darker, stronger and I  hope to do away with my eyelash curler.

Whitney Port at Sephora Times Square

Last night, former Hills and current The City star, Whitney Port made an appearance at the beauty haven, Sephora in Times Square. This event was hosted by Sephora and Allure Magazine to celebrate the fall’s style & beauty and to showcase Whitney Port’s Fall 2009 Collection from her Whitney Eve line.

Several people – teens and adults, men and women alike stood on like for her arrival nxious to get her autograph and their photo taken with her

With their purchase of $10 or more, customers received a $10 gift card and gift bag which included Allure’s November issue, with Twilight’s Kristen Stewart on the cover, and Cargo Cosmetics’s Botanical Lipstick in Eve Pinky (a sheer hot pink) which is a collaboration between Cargo and Whitney Port. What makes this lipstick even more special is Cargo donates $2 from the sale of every shade to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Whitney herself was very sweet and took photos with every one who wanted one. Her skin, hair and outfit looked flawless (of course)

The evening ended (for me anyway) with Whitney walking around talking to the events guests, makeup artists and annoucing winners of $100 giftcards from Sephora (of course I didn’t win). By the time I’d departed, she was still there mingling with Sephora’s happy customers.
