Burlington Coat Factory NYC Flagship Store Opening Preview

We at mylifeonandofftheguestlist.com were lucky enough to score an invitation to preview the new Burlington Coat Factory NYC flagship located in Union Square. Ladies (and gentlemen), get ready to indulge in “brag-worthy fashion and home finds” in three floors filled with incredible deals (you may have seen the ads around)

In this economy, being frugal is the new normal and with Burlington, frugal can be chic. Carrying such incredible brands in clothing such as Kenneth Cole, Michael Kors, Free People etc; gorgeous shoes from Missoni, Fyre, Elizabeth & James, etc; home goods from Rachel Rey, Black & Decker, etc at up to 65% off department store prices

Burlington toutes three floors of amazing products – clothing and accessories for men, women and children, Shoes and outerwear, home goods, maternity and a huge baby depot.

Already on my wishlist (naturally from he shoe department) are these to-die for boots from Missoni and Fyre.

The Missoni, which normally retails for $975.00 is available at Burlington for $349.99 and the Fyre, normally retails for $230.00, is only $149.99 at Burlington. You can’t beat those amazing prices.

Jean-Michel Cazabat Opens Flagship Store

Shoe lovers, fashionistas and celebs (including a few noted designers) et al stopped by to celebrate the flagship boutique of shoe designer, Jean-Michel Cazabat. His collections can already be found at the powerful Barneys, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, etc so the chic West Village boutique is right at home on Bleecker along designer brands Cynthia Rowley, Michael Kors, etc.

The boutique is designed to have a welcoming feeling – it seemed to me like a very large walk in shoe closet (if I ever get to have one of those, I want it to look exactly like Jean-Michel’s boutique). The “roaring” faux-fireplace, the plush red velvet seating, the addition of several of fashion’s must have books strewn everywhere, the shoe cubbies (I almost fainted at the back shoe cubby wall – my dream)

With his exquisite designs, twenty-five years of designing shoes and a philosophy inspired by his passion for music, nightlife and spirited women, its no surprise that Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna, etc are counted as lovers of Jean-Michel’s shoes. Jean-Michel’s use of colors, flirty silhouettes, whimsical details and exotic skins allows him to create a brand with its own distinctive styles that are fun, fashionable and feminine. But men are not to worry because there is a newly available mens collection

Welcome to the Beauty Oasis – Sephora Meatpacking

There is an abundance of fashion designer boutiques in the Meatpacking District but until recently, your only real choices for beauty was Inglot for makeup and the fairly new L’Occitane for skincare. Beauty mecca Sephora has changed that with their cool new location on Ninth Ave and 13th Street.

Offering exclusive brands and an amazing beauty experience, though the building’s facade is typical meatpacking architecture, inside is vastly different; inside features a modern sleek design – a bit like being transported to a secret future beauty haven.

The Sephora meatpacking also features a roster of global and exclusive beauty brands such as Sponge Avocado Oil (Greece), Tatcha Blotting Papers (Japan), Absolution Eye Cream (France), Belmacz Gold Leaf Lip balm (UK), 21 Drops, Ellia Faas, Ken Gen Do Cosmetics, etc.
You can expect a free flowing design layout with areas dedicated to skincare, nail products, fragrance, color, brushes and my favorite – the Lash Bar, which allows you to try lashes in various colors and lengths.

This Sephora offers much more than products to purchase. With their Beauty Art Studio, you are invited to master any new beauty look with their Express Services or Customized makeup Application with the cost of each session redeemable in product. Services include Blush & Bronze, Flawless Foundation, Treat & Conceal, Beautiful Skin, Smoky Eye and Faux Lash as well as specialized Services which includes Prom, Bridal and Evening.

Upon entry, you are greeted by a powerful art installation by installation artist and sculptor, E.V. Day. The piece, made from an original flamenco dress and titled “Flamenco Tornado”, is the first commissioned by Sephora. it is distorted to show the power and movement of a woman, much like a tornado – it explores overt female power, sexuality, passion and energy

Another unique aspect to the Sephora Meatpacking location is the checkout system – this Sephora features a complete Mobile Checkout experience for faster, more efficient and easier purchasing.

Grand Re-Opening of H&M Soho I and Soho II

H&M has give their two Soho Locations a fresh new look. Both H&M Soho 1 (558 Broadway bet Prince and Spring sts) and H&M Soho 2 (515 Broadway bet Spring and Broome sts) stores have been given all new interiors and fixtures with Soho 2 expanding by getting an entire new level. “This location will now feature the young trend department, an exclusive lingerie section, and the casual sportswear collections for both men and women in addition to the Ladies’ and Men’s collections!”.

To celebrate of both grand re-openings, H&M Soho 2, along with Nylon Magazine, held an unveiling event last night a packed crowd who were more than ready to enjoy the 25% off H&M’s already affordable prices, cocktails (courtesy of Svedka Vodka), some yummy hors d’oeuvres and giftbags (I missed out on the giftbags because I was too busy shopping, so I couldn’t tell you what was in it)

Unfortunately, I didn’t walk out with much (I’m not talking about the giftbag) – my only purchase was a pair of Dark Denim Trousers. I had two basic Tunics but my friend proceeded to take both out of my hands and told me NO (I’m paraphrasing) and I saw this beautiful medium heavy double breasted jacket (see below)

but unfortunately, they were all size fours which is when considering the size of my “girls”. This gave birth to a was a slight temper tantrum….mostly a lot of “damning” – don’t you just love the pockets but there are other H&M’s so the hunt is on.

Anyway, to continue the Grand Re-opening celebrations, both H&M Soho locations offered an H&M T-shirt and Access to Fashion Pass valued from $10 to $300 to the first 200 shoppers in line at each location. One lucky winner at each location received an All Access Fashion Pass allowing them early entry to the store to shop before doors opened to the public.

Both store locations will be open Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

H&M was established in Sweden in 1947. Today there are around 2,000 H&M stores in 37 countries. H&M has a wide product range that is divided into a number of different concepts for women, men, teenagers, and children.
