Prom Dress Picks: Camille La Vie Spring 2016 Collection

Although our Prom days are long gone, we can’t help but still get excited to see the latest and greatest prom dresses that are sure to set the hearts of teen girls aflutter as our dress did for us. We sometimes find ourselves wondering which style would we select every time prom season rolls around. The hunt for the perfect prom dress was and still remains the most important thing in a teen girl’s life (graduation is a close second), but just as with weddings, when it comes to prom, it’s always about the dress first. And speaking of the dress, there is one rule, the prom dress must be chic, and fabulous, two words that perfectly describe this season’s prom dresses from the Camille La Vie Spring 2016 collection, the shopping destination for designer prom dresses, party dresses, and homecoming dresses.

Hot trends of seasons past, such as high-low dresses, two-piece dresses, mermaid dresses, nude, and lace illusion dresses are still favorites and make repeated appearances in the Camille La Vie Spring 2016 collection, with many styles featuring two or three trend combinations; for example, bedazzled, or printed crop tops are seen with both voluminous, and sleek mermaid skirts. We especially love the Camille La Vie Royal Print Two Piece with Bow Skirt which combines the high-low and two-piece silhouettes, and the Camille La Vie Two Piece Beaded Illusion Top and Ball Skirt that features the lace illusion and two-piece silhouettes.

Decadent lace and sultry illusion details are a must for this year, making appearances on necklines, backs, and bodice. Another hot trend is color; from pretty pastels to bright jewel tones, bold floral prints, and soft nude tones, color continues a key factor in prom dresses. Fun, flirty short dresses are also high on the list of prom dress picks again this year for those who are looking for a shorter, sassier look. Camille La Vie offers high-low dresses and two-piece short dresses for those looking to stand out in a sea of long dress looks.

For those looking for long, vampy silhouettes, the Camille La Vie Spring 2016 Collection is unsurpassed in alluring prom dress looks that elongates the body and teases you ith seductive details, such as an open back, strategic cutouts, lace illusion, etc. A favorite of ours is the Camille La Vie Allover Lace Dress with Open Back (the 1st stunning green dress in the photo directly below). It is styles like this stunner that has us reminiscing about our prom, and leaves us wondering which dress would we choose today.

Lola and Sophie Spring 2016 Collection

We’re so excited that the weather is warming up nicely (and quickly)….YAY to an early spring!! We begin our spring highlight with the Lola and Sophie Spring 2016 Collection. We fell in love with this label from fashion designer, Gene Kagan, last year when we got a first look at the Lola and Sophie Fall/Holiday 2015 Collection. We loved the easy, interchangeable pieces that compliment each other (and everything else in your closet), and that love continues on to the spring 2016 collection.

Like in his previous collection, the Lola and Sophie Spring 2016 Collection features elegant, key pieces that are a must for the season. Teeming with comfortable yet chic lightweight tops, bottoms, and figure-flattering dresses that are available such fabrications as silk, distressed satin, linen, cotton, etc, you can easily transition from day to evening with a change of accessories. Kagan, known for his affordable, layer-able separates that will never lose their modern allure offers a chic, contemporary spring collection that takes fashion for a walk on the relaxed side. When you add pieces from the Lola and Sophie Spring 2016 Collection to your wardrobe, you are in possession of items that will continue to be timeless pieces season after season, year after year.

There are many incredible pieces from the collection that we love including the reversible, printed Georgette Tank Top and Tank Dress (yes reversible) featured in the photos directly above, the drool-worthy Short Sleeve Sparkle Fleece Jacket, and the must-have Linen Jersey Duster (personal favorites of ours featured in the very first photo and the one directly below).

Other spring wardrobe staples include the Lux Double Georgette Long Shorts with Front Pockets (how comfortable is that waistband), what has to be the most flattering, and perfect ribbed tank. Trust us when we say, there’s so much more amazing pieces to behold from the Lola and Sophie Spring 2016 Collection, check them out and let us know what you think.

Cosmo Mag’s Emerging Designer Showcase: KALLMEYER New York Spring 2016

We’ve stated many times how we like to highlight upcoming designers. If you’ve kept up with us, you read the words emerging or up and coming several times. While we adore several established designers, we like to give the future of fashion a chance. During the craziness that is NYFW, we had the opportunity to view the collection of emerging designer label, KALLMEYER New York, thanks to Cosmo Magazine’s Emerging Designer Showcase, held at The Glasshouses, a perfect backdrop and visual feast for this collection.

The sophisticated, ready-to-wear, KALLMEYER New York Spring 2016 collection, boasted a combination of stunning tailored looks and flowy pieces with a strong voice. We love the chic, modern patterned separates (the only pattern in her neutral and classic color palette), the elegant draping, the effortless grace of the silhouettes; we were excited to see crop tops paired with roomy jackets, loose-fit shapes gracing the body and those amazing flower earrings. There’s much to love from KALLMEYER, as is evident from past collection features in heavy-hitting publications such as WWD, Elle UK, Refinery 29, etc, as well as the fact she’s been labeled one to watch many times.

The lovely showcase was sponsored by Elizbeth Arden, Smartwater (for much-needed hydration), and Air Optic Colors Contact lenses. One of our highlights from the evening was the arrival of Cosmopolitan’s Editor in Chief, the wonderful Joanna Coles, who mingled with the event’s attendees, and posed for photos with fashion designer, Daniella Kallmeyer and her collection. We expect to see much more from this designer and cannot wait to see what else she has in store.

Did this collection excite you? What did you think of the looks from the KALLMEYER New York Spring 2016 collection?

NYFW the Shows: Hanes Hosiery at Bibhu Mohapatra Show

If we’ve learned anything from the long, chilly spring, tights, and basically all types of legwear, were essential. Obviously, Bibhu Mohapatra and Hanes Hosiery anticipate another cold Spring in 2016 because the legwear giant graced the legs of models at the Bibhu Mohapatra Spring 2016 Show during NYFW the Shows. These looks are just three of the runway looks which featured Hanes Hosiery at Bibhu Mohapatra Show. As you can see the tights are perfectly paired with Bibhu’s mix of elegant high-end day looks.

Hanes Hosiery at Bibhu Mohapatra Show

After seasons upon seasons of bare legs dominating the spring collection runway shows and red carpet appearances, legwear is finally getting a chance to shine during the slightly warmer season. Who better to make this debut than Hanes Hosiery, whose smoothing tights and pantyhose were incorporated into the runway show to create a timeless look.

Hanes Hosiery and Bibhu Mohapatra

“My spring collection is inspired by the Bauhaus movement and because of the bold and confident spirit of that woman, legs became an important part of the look,” says Mohapatra. “The Hanes Hosiery helps complete that look.”

Although the fall season is usually the season of legwear, if last spring was any indication, we expect to see many of these spring 2016 looks we saw paired with Hanes Hosiery. We already have our Hanes Black Out tights in reserve, we suggest you do the same. Now tell us ladies, what do you think of Hanes Hosiery at Bibhu Mohapatra Show? Will you be wearing tights with your spring looks this spring?

Eveningwear with an Edge: Michael DePaulo Collection

The best kind of show to attend during NYFW is a presentation. while runway shows are exciting, with fashion presentations, you get up close and personal with the looks to enjoy a greater and closer view of all the details, something that’s difficult to capture as models are zipping by you. One of the presentations we had the pleasure of attending was for Michael DePaulo’s Spring 2016 Collection, a designer whose’s Fall/Winter 2015 Collection we’ve previously highlighted.

His red carpet-ready, designer gown collection was one of the rotation of New York City fashion designers who showcased their looks at the Caravan Stylist Studio in partnership with Save The Garment Center. His collection boasts sophisticated silhouettes with edgy details that have graced the red carpets of The Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Emmys and Tony Awards.

His dramatic and architectural gowns were breathtaking to see in person. Favorite pieces include the gorgeous black and white strapless ballgown, the stunning white jacket with black sequin embellishments below which as you can see, looks very much like the black and white gown. We also adore the dramatic shoulder embellishment on the above red gown, and of course, the beautiful, black  Kimono gown. We see why his looks have appeared on several red carpet, and we’re sure to see more.

De Paulo’s designs are sold at high-fashion retailers around the world, including Saks Fifth Avenue, and he recently launched an exclusive bridal collection with Kleinfeld Bridal.

Eric Javits Spring/Summer 2016 Collection

We’ve always loved the idea of lavish hats. We secretly one to be like those women who strolls into a room looking incredibly chic in a fabulous hat (yes we basically want to be Dynasty character) but alas, we were cursed with a big head some of the thickest hair known to man (cursed/blessed?), so we’ve simply ogled hats from afar which fuels our obsession whenever we see spectacular hats. You can imagine how we felt walking into the Spring/Summer 2016 preview for Eric Javits‘s distinctive hats and handbags.

We fell hard for one particular hat, a beautiful, stark white Floppy Sun Hat with a dramatic brim, that we spotted at the Zang Toi’s Spring 2016 runway show at NYFW the Shows. A perfect compliment to his “Splendor of Santorini” collection. Besides this being a beautiful hat, it’s also quite beneficial as Eric Javits’s hats block 95% UVA/UVB rays. That’s more time outdoors for us and protection for our skin.

If you also noticed that gorgeous bag in the above photo, it’s a favorite as well. Eric Javits’s bags are not only stunning, they are lightweight, durable, and come interiors boasting fun prints. We adore the shape, the metallic tones, and the frayed edge details. Of course, that’s not the only bag we adored. Details played a very important role in falling for the beauty below, specifically, the seahorse zipper pull. Love its combination of chic and whimsy.

There were so much from the collection to fall in love with. Check out a few more of our favorites below, including spring/summer essential – visors
