Let's Do This Bitches a New Daytime Drag Extravaganza BRUNCH

This Brunch is a Total Drag: Drag Brunch at Haswell Green’s

Have you noticed weekend brunches have become somewhat pedestrian? We mean lacking in excitement. While it’s great to connect with friends, the overall experience doesn’t deviate from the usual mimosas, runny eggs, etc. What if we told you there was a better way to do brunch; a more entertaining way. You can still enjoy connecting with your friends but with entertainment. Welcome to Drag Brunch at Haswell Green’s, an experience that brings “dinner and a show” to your weekend brunch festivities.

Haswell Green’s drag brunch is aptly named, Let’s Do This Bitches; this daytime drag extravaganza stars the very talented Ritzy Bitz and another drag queen for your total entertainment. Get ready for a comedic and lip-syncing extravaganza. On the Saturday we attended, Misty Mountains Davenport, daughter of Rupaul’s Drag Race Season 11’s Honey Davenport, was the co-headliner. Check out our social media coverage on our Instagram page. While the bottomless brunch menu does feature mimosas and Bloody Marys, they also offer a signature “mean girls”-inspired cocktail, ‘That’s So Fetch”, to go along with the hilarious and fun performances.

When one thinks of brunch, pizza doesn’t normally come to mind, but during the Haswell Green drag brunch, you’re able to order from three pizza varieties – Breakfast Pizza, Classic Margherita, or a Sausage Pizza. We indulged in the breakfast pizza which featured onions, peppers, eggs and lots of cheese.

If you want to stick to breakfast favorites, the menu also features Greek Skillet, Huevos Rancheros, Bacon, Egg & Cheese Waffle Fries, Grilled Cheese Benedict, Steak and Eggs, Guacamole Goat Cheese Toast, and Chilaquiles. Bee Pollen Pancakes and Almond French Toast are also available for those with a sweet tooth. Those who love savory will love the Brisket Burger, Mac & Cheese, and the Fried Chicken Waffle (featured below).

Aside from the great food and amazing performances, our favorite part of the event was the crowd participation. Several guests were invited on stage for a Lipsync for your Life challenge a la RuPaul’s Drag Race. Needless to say, thanks to the bottomless brunch cocktails, hilarity, and a few shocking instances ensued. After the show, we all got to take photos with ladies.

Que Viva Brunch: Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch

If you haven’t been lucky enough to enjoy an authentic Mexcian breakfast, we have the next best thing – Rosa Mexicano’s new bottomless brunch menu. The famed restaurant’s new bottomless brunch begins Saturday, May 18th; and we don’t think the great weather we’re going to have tomorrow and the rest of the week is not a coincidence. We think Mother Nature is also excited about this amazing and flavorful brunch. We’ve enjoyed quite a few brunches and while several have been good, most focus on the drinks, rather than the food. The result is usually good cocktails and “okay” food. With Rosa Mexicano’s new bottomless brunch, the food is amazingly delicious and the cocktails are equally divine. We sat down to experience the flavorful feast and we can tell you, every bite and sip is sensational. Let’s begin with the bottomless options

Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch offers unlimited servings of six cocktails, red or white sangria, beer, and wine. As much as you can enjoy in an hour and a half. These are so delicious, it won’t be surprised by how fast some of these go down.

MORNING GLORY – A frozen Mexican twist on an Aperol spritz
LA TRADICIONAL MARGARITA – Frozen or rocks, Blanco tequila, lime, organic agave
FROZEN POMEGRANATE MARGARITA -Blanco tequila, triple sec, pomegranate, lime
FROZEN LIME – Lime, Blanco tequila, triple sec, organic agave, flor de sal rim
BLOODY MARY OR MARIA – Choice of vodka or tequila, tomato juice, horseradish, Cholula, pickled jalapeño, jicama, chicharrón
MANGO MIMOSA – Cava, mango and fresh squeezed orange juice

We started with the Morning Glory, a superb creation that combines an Aperol Spritz with a margarita. Even if you’re not a huge fan of Aperol, you’ll love this absolutely amazing frozen delight; not just for its Instagram-worthiness but it’s taste. Fair warning, this goes down very quickly. We also predict the massive Frozen Pomegranate Margarita and refreshing Frozen Lime cocktail will also dominate during brunch. For those who want to drink less, the Mango Mimosa is a terrific option.

The Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch specials start with Cornbread With Buttered Agave-Lime. It’s available to every table and it amazing. Spread the buttered agave-lime over the warm cornbread to fully appreciate the flavors. We cut our cornbread before slattering it with the butter so it would melt beyond the crust – we highly recommend doing this.

Up next was the Sopa de Frijoles, a hearty Black bean soup with poached eggs and roasted jalapeño with flour tortillas. This vegetarian dish can be made non-vegetarian with the addition of chorizo. It’s a mild soup that can be punched up a bit when you break into the roasted jalapeno pepper….so those who love to up from mild flavors.

The Huarache Con Carne Asada is definitely not your typical steak and eggs. The gluten-free, Mexico City-style huarache is served with marinated skirt steak, fried egg, queso fresco, salsa Norteña, and guacamole. Your tastebuds won’t know what hit them.

Want an even more international touch to your brunch eats? The gluten-free Sopes Benedict Traditional features poached eggs served over corn masa cakes with Canadian bacon (yes Canadian bacon) and Hollandaise. We love the surprising addition of the sweetness the Canadian bacon adds to this dish, and you will too.

We live for anything with pork belly, so of course, seeing the Torta de Desayuno on Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch menu brought us extreme joy. This succulent pork belly sandwich is served with a fried egg, Menonita cheese, avocado, and black beans. You can request it with a side of potatoes or fresh tropical fruit.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Last but certainly not least of our journey of Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch was the Tacos de Huevos. Also gluten-free, this dish features scrambled eggs a la plancha, rajas, bacon and queso Chihuahua. It is finished with chile de árbol salsa, onion and cilantro. We could survive on this all week and be very happy.

Of course, that’s not all that’s available on the Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch menu. Other dishes include the gluten-free Huevos Josefina (named for its Founder) and Huevos Rosa (not pictured), as well as the vegetarian Churros French Toast.

Rosa Mexicano Bottomless Brunch

Enjoy Rosa Mexicano’s New Bottomless Brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am – 3pm for $20.00 per person with the purchase of an entree at all Rosa Mexicano locations, except for Boston. Happy brunching!

Is Boozy Brunchacha at Vida Verde the Best Brunch in NYC?

We had the great pleasure of finding out for ourselves. Join us as we regale the tale of the very indulgent culinary journey we took to find out if the new Boozy Brunchacha at Vida Verde is the best Sunday brunch you will ever experience. If you are not yet familiar, Vida Verde is a Mexican-inspired cocktail bar tucked away in the sometimes stiff neighborhood of midtown west. To say it is a colorful and most welcomed oasis in the middle of a concrete desert is an understatement. Honestly, you can get lost in the eye-catching colors and striking artwork that makes up the decor. Let’s put it this way, imagine walking into a secret room of a grey house filled with every bold color imaginable……that is what we thought when we arrived at Boozy Brunchacha at Vida Verde Cocktail Bar.

The Boozy Brunchacha at Vida Verde promised a fantastic line up of specialty cocktails by Vida Verde’s star bartenders, a Mezcal tasting, an amazing taste of their brunch specialties menu including tacos, tortas, small dishes, and desserts. It did not disappoint! First up was delicious cocktails that celebrated the colors of the rainbow. We indulged in the Mango & Habanero Margarita, Paloma de Tamarindo, Classic Frozen Margarita, Red Sangria, and the amazing Juna Punch Wonder Punch Bowl which is as delicious as it is vibrant. We enjoyed these wonderful libations with a round of light bites including Chips, Salsa and Guacamole….to start.

After we were properly soused with our starter cocktails, it was time for the Mexcal tasting. We learned all about the cultivation, harvesting, cooking, fermenting, and distilling processes of some of Mexico’s leading Mezcal brands. Some of which we got to sample. Vida Verde actually offers classes on spirits daily, so if you’ve ever wanted to learn more about your favorite alcohol or get to know a new one, Vida Verde is the place to be.

After the Mezcal Tasting, we went into full-on brunch mode. The Boozy Brunchacha at Vida Verde menu is decadent. You will enjoy 90 minutes of bottomless brunch and a pinata at two price levels. For $40.00, you can enjoy a brunch entree and bottomless Bloody Marys, Mimosas, Beer or Cava. For $50.00, you also get a brunch entree and bottomless Margaritas or Micheladas, and Palomas. Speaking of entrees, the choices are vast for Boozy Brunchacha at Vida Verde. Feast your eyes on some of what’s available to enjoy:

The extensive brunch menu features so many choices. Some of Vida Verde’s Boozy Brunchacha brunch menu items we enjoyed included Chilaquiles, Mexican Poutine, Grilled Steak Fajitas, Huevos Rancheros, Breakfast Torta, Avocado smash on Tortilla, and Garden Frittata, many of which are pictured above and below. Our most gluttonous moment came when we first laid eyes on the Aztec Pancakes. The word divine doesn’t begin to do justice to how delicious this banana, brown sugar, cocoa, and whipped cream delight, so we’ll just let you droll over the below photo and tell you to visit Vide Verde to experience it for yourself.

As we previously stated, your boozy Brunchacha at Vida Verde experience comes with a pinata, making your time there even more wonderful.

While you are no doubt enjoying your boozy Brunchacha at Vida Verde surrounded by the amazing artwork, let the spirit of Frida Kahlo inspire you to explore Vida Verde’s newly opened Rooftop Margarita Market. This hidden oasis boasts a stunning handpainted mural by renowned artist, Victor “Marka27” Quinonez, wonderfully colorful decor and a menu that promises 10 flavor varieties of margaritas. This is no surprise since Vida Verde is known to have the largest Mezcal and Tequila selections in NYC.

So to answer our question, there is no doubt this is the best brunch we’ve experienced. But don’t take our word for it, try it for yourself.
