Hyatt Regency’s It’s Good Not to Be Home Campaign

Sometimes the best times are spent away from home. Away from your normal routine, your daily stress, so forth. We think a little escape is from your daily grind is an essential need. Whether you’re escaping for business or pleasure, the Hyatt Regency celebrates your escape with their It’s Good Not to Be Home campaign. A campaign that highlights all the reasons it’s good to get away from home and enjoy a few days at the Hyatt Regency. One of the first things we were told to do when we arrived was to exchange our shoes for a pair of plus Hyatt Regency bedroom slippers to be really comfortable during the event……we and several other guests happily complied.

This fall, the Hyatt Regency asked travelers to share their ideas on how to make their business travel experiences and time away from home even better. Now in its second year, “It’s Good Not to Be Home” was created from the very true concept that as much as we like to be home, we humans love and enjoy the freedom to break away from our normal routine while traveling. These innovations, dreamed up by business travelers, will be used for inspiration for future Hyatt Regency experiences and amenities.

Those experiences were debuted at the Hyatt Regency event held at their Jersey City location. The first being Personal trainer Gunnar Peterson’s and James Beard Award-winning pastry chef and Cronut creator Dominique Ansel’s in-room food and fitness routine, encouraging guests to stay fit and eat a balanced meal to be and remain productive during their trip; and the second is Fashion designer Cynthia Rowley pairing up with tech mogul and businesswoman Randi Zuckerberg to create an on-the-go beauty bar where guests can relax, reset, and indulge.

hyatt_regency_innovation_reveal_event7_www-mylifeonandofftheguestlist-com hyatt_regency_innovation_reveal_event3_www-mylifeonandofftheguestlist-com

Attendees of the event had a chance to partake in those experiences, previewing what Hyatt Regency guests will soon enjoy as future Hyatt Regency amenities at all their locations. Thanks to this event, we had the wonderful opportunity to meet and speak with Designer Cynthia Rowley, enjoy an almost unlimited supply of delicious Cronuts, and enjoy a little Hyatt Regency swag

The event was incredibly amazing and we really did not want to go home. The Hyatt Regency made it really difficult to leave the event. The bar was flowing, the food was amazing, almost all of our wishes were fulfilled, constant pampering, no dishes had to be done, so why would we want to go home? Take it from us when we say if you’re traveling soon, let the Hyatt Regency show you why it’s good not to be home.

Urban Oasis: W New York’s Extreme Wow Outdoor Glamping Suite

When we were younger, we considered ourselves the outdoorsy type. Then again as children, we wanted nothing more than the freedom to run. Today, we’re happy with a view of the city and a glass of something tasty. However, we sometimes get brief pangs of exploring and discovering the outdoors, but then we remember the lack of comforts. This had us thinking, how can we relive the wonder of the outdoors with our love of comfortable surroundings…….in the city? The W New York Hotel, located at 541 Lexington Avenue, actually gave us the answer with their new Extreme Wow Outdoor Glamping Suite. It’s the perfect solution for those who want to enjoy a bit of the outdoors, without losing the comfort.

Glamp2_W New York Hotel

The W New York has partnered with Online Interior Design firm, Laurel & Wolf to transform the terrace of the Extreme Wow Suite into an urban glamping escape. With the brilliant lights of Times Square in the distance and a panoramic view of the city as your backdrop, you’ll feel right at home relishing in these outdoor views. The Extreme Wow Outdoor Glamping Suite celebrates everything about camping: a 12-foot yurt furnished in a kaleidoscope of fabrics and textures, glowing lanterns, rattan hanging chairs, and a fire pit that lights up with a flip of a switch. A canopy of twinkling café lights surrounds the yurt, which stands as the central element of the rustic-luxe oasis.

W New York is offering guests the opportunity to book special packages centered around the Extreme Wow Outdoor Glamping Suite. Special deals will include packages for families, honeymooners, girls’ getaways, and more, with rates starting at $2,000 per night. Don’t think just because the summer’s almost over, you won’t have time to partake in this glamping adventure. The Outdoor Glamping Suite will remain open until November, weather permitting of course.

Julie Geer, Director of Partnerships at Laurel & Wolf states: “We are thrilled to partner with W New York, an iconic destination that perfectly complements the vibrancy of this amazing city. Marking the launch of our first hotel partnership, we are honored to work with the flagship property for W Hotels Worldwide, rooted in a city of limitless design inspiration.”

Pablo-Andres Lopez, Marketing Manager at W New York says, “W New York’s partnership with Laurel & Wolf on the design of the terrace is an exciting initiative, the first glamping experience to take place at a hotel in New York City. We’re inspired by Laurel & Wolf’s design work and look forward to working with their talented team to launch more unique guest experiences.”

We had a wonderful time taking in the scenic views, enjoying the cooler air, and trying not to fall asleep in the super comfy Yurt. Thanks to the music from DJ Rose, and the champagne bar, we had a blast reliving our outdoor adventures. Are you a fan of glamping? Would you pay a visit to the W New York Extreme Wow Outdoor Glamping Suite?

Travel With Us: Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Poconos Mountains

If you’re a child of the late 80’s then you certainly remember those famed commercials for “beautiful Mount Airy Lodge”, where all you had to bring was your love of everything. Today’s Mount Airy Casino Resort is still beautiful and just like before, wants you to bring your love of everything, from gambling, to luxurious spa treatments, your foodie appetites, love of concerts, worldly music and performances, and your love of giveaways. We had the pleasure of a wonderful and much-needed weekend escape to Mount Airy Casino Resort, located in the picturesque Poconos Mountains, right after NYFW (we had an amazing view of the frozen lake outside our window).

If you’re expecting to see the old Mount Airy from the old commercials, you will be very wrong, the original Mount Airy Lodge which closed in 2001, was completely torn down, and the new Mount Airy Casino Resort was built from scratch. Because there is already a huge userbase for the top Online casino we can be sure that this resort will be enjoyed by many. The old honeymoon hideaway is gone and has made way to be a family-friendly casino resort. As well as bringing in people who love to gamble, whether that be online using sites like Casino-Korea or those dabbling in other casino resorts, the resort has much more to offer for those who are not of age or don’t enjoy casino games, such as a spa and a variety of entertainment for all ages. The only thing that remains of the old Mount Airy, is the name. Gone are the heart-shaped tubs, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, velvet canopy beds, and the other old remnants the old hotel was known for. What replaces the old decor are modern design elements that are both stunningly elegant and rustic. The hotel’s interior boasts boldly stated panache that’s breathtaking to behold. Every bit of design detail was personally chosen by the new family of owners, who are obviously blessed with great taste.

From its architectural influences, cubism-inspired design details, its mix of rugged and glamorous embellishments (we especially love the stunning crystal chandelier directly over the stone waterfall in the lobby), stunning, spacious bathrooms, and plush pillow-top beds, one can’t help but fall in love with the resort’s modern and sophisticated decor. Our Deluxe King room (pictured below) was exquisitely decorated with subtle tones and hues that beautifully played up the various prints and patterns of its decor.

As we stated before, the Mount Airy Casino Resort is a family-friendly casino. This means that if you are a fan of online gambling websites and enjoy playing Poker Online, this could be the perfect vacation destination for you. However, if you don’t like to gamble, or if you’re not yet of age, there’s still so much to enjoy. A feature we particularly enjoyed at the resort was that the gambling areas didn’t encroach on the other available amenities. There’s no threat of hearing the telltale noises of slot machines and other gambling noises to disturb you from enjoying the amazing food from Mount Airy’s onsite restaurants, the wonderful, full-service spa, the Xanadu-esque Get Wet pool area, golf, horseback trail riding, and skiing. In fact, once you are away from the gambling areas, you’d swear you were just at a wonderful We completely indulged our foodie souls at Mount Airy. You might, in fact, simply come to enjoy the hotel’s amenities and prefer to enjoy online gambling using a sportsbook site when you return home – for which you can find a review here if you’d like to learn more. The hotel’s main restaurants include the upscale Bistecca by Il Mulino (pictured below), casual Guy Fieri’s Mt. Pocono Kitchen, the Pan-Asian Lucky 8 Noodle + Sushi Bar, and The Buffet (pictured below).

Bistecca-Indoor Buffet-image-final

Our favorite foodie escape was Bistecca by Il Mulino, a world-class Italian restaurant where we indulged in the most decadent and unforgettable meal. We’re still relishing in the memory of the flavorful Grilled Octopus with White Beans and Tomato appetizer, delicious handcrafted cocktails, and the perfection that was the Capellini Ai Frutti di Mare.

No matter the season, lounging in one of the Get Wet private luxury cabanas (which boast day beds and televisions) or dipping into the heated, 51,000 square foot, indoor/outdoor Get Wet Pool, Bar & Nightlife is a wonderful way to enjoy a care-free day or enjoy some after-dark entertainment when the sun goes down. You can enjoy a drink or some light dining while you relax inside or relish in the scenic views of the resort’s lake and golf course on the outdoor deck.

Inside-Day_4C Outside-Night_4C

For those of your who need a bit more in the way of relaxation, the resort’s Spa and Salon will finish you with an afternoon or early evening (the spa closes at 8 pm Mon-Sat) of luxurious pampering, which includes massages, nail and body treatments, hair and makeup, spray tanning, etc. We had the pleasure in indulging in the Mount Airy Signature Massage which left our muscles feeling wonderfully relaxed and tension-free. The 55-min massage exactly what was needed to relieve the stress from the craziness of NYFW.

Our weekend escape ended with a night full of fun-filled entertainment at the onsite nightclub, Gypsies Lounge, where we were treated to a night of Vietnamese pop music. The eye-catching nightclub offers a vast array of entertainment including singers, dance performances, comedy shows, and celebrity appearances and performances, as you sip on cocktails or dance the night away. Upcoming shows include Sinbad, Berlinda Carlisle, Gilbert Gottfried, Richard Marx, and Gary Owen.

Gypsies-Stage GypsiesNiteclub_001

Those who prefer to enjoy their drinks on the gambling floor or are looking for a place to “pre-game” can do so at The Glass Bar, centrally located right in the middle of the Mount Airy Casino Resort floor. If you rather gamble on your golf game, the famed Mount Airy Golf Course will officially open for the season on March 21st, 2016. *Quick golf side note, the PGA of America celebrates its Centennial this year and a round or two of golf is a great way to not only enjoy the outdoors but playing the game has amazing health and wellness benefits. The Mount Airy course was inspired by Sports Illustrated’s “Best 18 Holes in America”, the course is known for its distance drives and 6,500 yards of manicured greens.

Golf_006 Golf_005

Before and/or after your golf game, relax in the Mount Airy course’s clubhouse, Drinks & Links, and the Golf Pro Shop. Enjoy the clubhouse’s full-service bar, restaurant and lounge amenities: outdoor deck overlooking the Pocono Mountains, state-of-the-art locker room, and shower facility, and the pro shop’s full selection of apparel, clubs and accessories, book a golf lesson or a group outing, or just do like we did and just enjoy walking the grounds taking in its beauty.

We truly enjoyed our weekend at the Mount Airy Casino Resort, it was a wonderful experience. We can’t wait to revisit the resort again sometime during the summer to either enjoy their July 4th festivities or one of their outdoor celebrity concerts. If you’re planning on any weekend getaways or extended trips away, we recommend adding the Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Poconos Mountains. Whether you’re a gambler, golfer, or foodie, you’ll enjoy every moment.

Untagged Photos courtesy of Mount Airy Casino Resort Pay for Your Air Travel in Budget-Friendly Installments

What if you could pay for your dream vacation in budget-friendly installments? Or lock in a low airfare months earlier when airfares are much cheaper? Or how about both? Thanks to, not only are you able to take advantage of low airfares thanks to their price protection, you take control of your travel plans by paying in installments with either a monthly or biweekly payment plan. It’s your dream vacation, on layaway.

Air travel can be quite expensive, and without any real options aside from extensive saving and praying to the travel gods for decent and discounted airfares, we had no real solution to getting the vacation we desired, at a price we could afford…..until No longer will you be at the mercy of a horrible airline just to hopefully get to enjoy your trip, especially as a frustrating experience can ruin your entire vacation. With airfares ever increasing, and our need to escape our daily lives every once in a while, is the answer, but don’t take our word for it, see for yourself. Stories

So how does Airfordable work? Very much like a department store layaway plan. Simply search for your flight dates on any airline or air travel website (we must note there’s a $2000 price per flight cap on airfare), grab a screenshot of your proposed trip, upload it to the Airfordable website, and they will show you payment plan options. Once you’ve selected your payment plan, just pay 30% of the cost of the air travel as a deposit, and pay the balance in the installment schedule you’ve chosen. Just as with department store layaways, once your final payment is complete, you will receive your e-ticket.

This is especially wonderful for those who don’t want to put the cost of the trip on a credit card. You enjoy a flexible payment plan with no credit check and no incurred interest fees like you would using a credit card, so there’s no buyer’s remorse when your credit card bill comes. Another great thing about Airfordable is if the price of your airfare drops before you’ve secured your seat, they will split the savings 50/50 and your portion becomes an Airfordable credit that you can use towards your next flight on any airline. what more can you ask for!

We’re ready to begin planning our dream vacation, what about you? Where can Airfordable help you travel to?

Travel Highlight: Let’s Go to Maharashtra, India

At one point, we traveled extensively, it was a great joy in our lives as we love to travel. We love the temporary escape from our reality, opening the window to a view that’s not the usual, experiencing new people, cultures, foods, and the wonderful sights each destination has to offer. Today we’re highlighting Maharashtra, a state in the western region of India and India’s second-most populated state. We actually meant to cover this previously but… Anyway, we had the pleasure of being a guest at a travel event for Maharashtra, India and delighted in the music, dancing and food featured at the event.

Maharashtra is the wealthiest and most developed state in India, but you may be more familiar with its state capital and largest city, Mumbai. Though Mumbai is the most popular, Maharashtra has 35 districts. There are lots of things to enjoy, like visiting the Mumbai Monorail, the first mono railway in India, the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, India’s first cable-stayed bridge, the Gateway of India in Mumbai, the Ajanta Caves in Aurangabad, the Statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and a statue of Ganesha. Along with lots of beautiful sights to see, there are lots of delicious culinary wonders to delight in, a foodie’s dream. At the Maharashtra Tourism event, I heartily enjoyed a variety of dishes…..see some of the cuisine I enjoyed below:

Maharashtra cuisine features amazing dishes that range from mild to very spicy. Some of the popular dishes include puran poli (a traditional type of sweet flatbread), ukadiche Modak (a steamed or fried coconut-filled sweet dumpling), and batata vada (potato fritters). The is divided into two wide categories of cuisine – Konkani, and Varadi. Although they are different, both cuisines use lots of seafood and coconut. Some other ingredients used in dishes from Maharashtra include onion, garlic, ginger, red chilli powder, green chilies, lentils, and tamarind. Non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes are generally eaten with boiled rice or soft roti bread, and the most popular fish is bombil, also known as the Bombay duck.

The beauty of Maharashtra isn’t just in its sights and foods, as they have many different types of beautiful dances. The Povada is the dance form that describes the life of Maratha ruler, Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj; the Lavani and Koli dances entertains you with mesmerizing music and rhythmic movements; the Dhangri Gaja dance pays respect to the God Biruba; the Dindi and Kala are the religious folk dances, and the Tamasha is the most popular folk dance. We enjoyed a sampling of, and took video of the beautiful dances performed during the event, enjoy them below:

We hope to visit Maharashtra one day and experience it’s stunning beauty first hand, it is definitely on our travel wish list.

John Legend to Headline Saint Lucia Jazz Festival’s 20th Anniversary

Grammy-award winning multi-Platinum artist John Legend will headline this year’s Saint Lucia Jazz Festival as it celebrates its 20th anniversary of entertaining locals and people from around the world. Travel With Me | Last Post on Tokyo, Japan

Hi all, I just wanted to post some miscellaneous photos from my trip to Tokyo before I continue on with the event posts. Below are photos from the neighborhood of my hotel, the beautiful Shibuya Tokyu Excel, located in the heart of Shibuya. The first photo is the view from my hotel room.

Before I continue I must note that even though I didn’t get shoes in my size in Tokyo (Japanese women have small feet and shoes basically only went to size 8) and only not much clothing (boobs too big), I was on the hunt for a particular color of nail polish. While right now we are reveling in purple and Blue nail polish, I think one of the next hot colors is Grey, not Silver but Grey. Throughout my trip, I searched and searched all over. I had Matt go into every nail salon and any store that had a beauty section to no avail but on the day before I was to leave Tokyo, I hit the jackpot…..yea!!! Below is a photo of my Grey nail polish

Anyway, back to the tourist in me. As I stated before, Matt took me just about everywhere. We went to Harajuku, Shinjinku, ODaiba, etc. There was this place in Odaiba (also called Daiba) called Palette Town. It is a man-made island which has a huge shopping center, concert hall, Car theme park, etc. They even had a huge ferris wheel and believe it or not, a smaller version of the Statue of Liberty

We also did some walking along Japans version of 5th Ave. I didn’t take any photos of the actual stores but it’s exactly what you’d expect – Gucci, Valentino, Prada, etc but I did take some photos of the area

Including some interesting stuff like these this traditional wedding gift from a mother to newlyweds

…..and these two ancient warriors

On my last night in Tokyo, Matt, his friend Yumi and I went to a nightclub in the neighborhood of my hotel called Gaspanic (it was literally like a block from my hotel)

First thing, you can see a little bit of a Zima wall hanging there, yep Zima. It still exists, at least in Japan. They also LOVE, I mean LOVE rap and hip hop music. We spent about four or five hours dancing to mostly dirty south music (seriously). I had to ask the DJ to play some east coast hip hop.

I took some video of people dancing at the club (it’s a bit dark but bear with me). Both include a guy who came straight from the office – suit, briefcase and all; he took off his jacket and just started getting down

Anyway, Matt pointed out something crazy to me. It seems there are some men in Japanese who try to pick up women off the street, just regular women and pay them to have sex with them or try to get them to do pornos. I took a photo of two guys and they were trying to pick up women right in front of us (I have indicated them with yellow arrows in the photo below).

They were not even trying to hide it, it was all very out in the open. The crazy part was they were so polite and respectful about it. Matt said that this was a very normal thing in Japan……..crazy.
